AAA discounts

The link in the show notes takes you to AAA south. Being in the ugly north - it asks for our zip code and then sends us to AAA north jersey. None of those good discounts are listed for us.

Also it says the target discount is only good online. So once again I would really rather be in Florida.

That is just so sad that they don't offer the same for everyone. When I did the research, it asked of my zip code. I guess I should have tried a few other zip codes to check it out.

The iTunes deal appears to be south only

One discount she didn't mention was t-mobile. We get about 10% off per month, which is a nice chunk of change on a family plan.

Some discounts are available regionally, but you can use your card any where you travel for discounts in those cities. There is an Iphone App for AAA members that will read your location and give you discounts for that area. They also have a APP for Roadside Assistance.

I used AAA for the free Maps, too. They have most major city maps and the state maps, and also some international locations. TripTiks are nice for road trips as they will tell you where to expect construction delays and give you possible route changes.

Walter's experience with Roadside Assistance was a rare one, but He could have used another service and then requested AAA cover the portion of the bill in his contract level with them. In the north during bad weather, they will eventually come, they just don't guarantee a time frame of showing up. They take those in dangerous situations first. If you break down on the interstate you have a higher priority for assistance than if you are broke down in your driveway.

I think it was Walter who said he called AAA and they wouldn't come out. Then he said later on in the show that it was raining that day and that there were too many accidents.

Being up here in the northerly climates when it snows we have the same trouble. If you ever find yourself in that situation, call another tow company, pay them, and then make sure you get a receipt from them that shows how much you paid. You can then send that in to AAA and they should reimburse you. This happened to me and it took me about 3-4 weeks, but I did get a check to cover my expenses.
