AAA Discount

I saw in a few threads that people have gotten AAA discounts. Is this something that I needed to go through AAA to get? I booked online and was never asked if I had AAA. Is it too late to get one?

They won't ask you if you have a AAA or offer any discount. You have to ask if they have any rooms available with the AAA discount yourself. You could go through your AAA, but I prefer to call myself. Of course, you have to have the AAA card. AAA usually gives 15 - 20 % disc on values, 15% on mods and 10% on deluxe, but some years that varies. But they only have so many rooms set aside at the resort that are able to have the AAA disc applied. When those are gone, then no more AAA disc. If someone cancels, they don't put that room back in the AAA system. I used to use the AAA disc but in the last few years I've been able to get other discounts that have been better! But, to find out more info on AAA disc and other discounts available, go to the code and rates board here and you'll find lots more info! There are several threads there right now! I would think it's possible you may find a discount of some sort if you do a little checking on the codes and rates board, not definite, but not out of the question for sure! Good Luck!!

The deepest discounts AAA offers is generally in January when they have their "magical month of Disney special" I saved 40% at the BCV this past Sept because of that.Now it does vary throughout the year ,and from year to year.ALSO,If you want a pkg with tix and or dp , you can not book that thru Disney.You need to book it thru AAA.If you only want a room then you can call Disney directly and see if they have any AAA discounted rooms for the time you want to go(Once you want to adda ticket of any kind or dp it falls under a pkg)

we've used it by calling Disney directly (room only.) This upcoming spring break trip, however, they had already run out of the room we wanted and we weren't able to get the AAA discount on it after all.

Oh, that's right, sorry about not mentioning that. When I booked directly through disney I did room only at that time, and I forgot the part about packages w/tickets or dining when I wrote my post.

Thanks for the info. I'm sure that I am too late for this Christmas since almost everywhere is sold out. I also booked a package, so that won't work! I also booked a camping at FW package for next Christmas week. I have AAA, but since I booked a package, that won't work unless I went through an agent. Is there anything I can do with next year's package since it's already booked?

When I booked my room last year, a code came out that I applied instead of the AAA discount and I saved an additional 300 over the AAA disc. would have been. This year, same thing happened. Then FD was offered and it was an even better deal with the fd and a slight room discount. You just have to have some patience in waiting for codes. Depending on your dates, there may be other codes available that may cover your dates. You can check the codes and rates board to see what's out there. then you would ask to apply them to your ressie if anything is available. Btw, you can only use one deal at a time, you can't combine offers.

Yes, you can call AAA and have them take over the reservation. They should then be able to apply the AAA discount. This is apparently not unusual.

Oh good to know! Does anyone know if there is a AAA discount at any of the Disney restaurants? I know in Disneyland you can use it at a lot of them, but I wasn't sure about WDW.

It came out to the same exact $$$$ amount. She even checked on my ressie for next Christmas week at FW, and that was the same price too. Oh well, no discount for me. What was I thinking???

Have you checked the codes and rates board at all? I just wouldn't give up so soon! Especially for next year, codes for that time haven't come out yet, but when they do you can try to apply them to the ressie you alreay have! But even this year. When are you going to wdw? Depending on when your dates are you could possibly get the FD code applied to your ressie. As long as you check in by the last day of the discount, many are reporting getting the discount. Sometimes a CM will say no it won't work but then try putting the dates in and find it goes through. One of the CM's said in her notes it said as long as check in was by the last date of the code, the FD would be for the whole trip. And, if the first CM says no, just call back, some CM's aren't as knowledgable as others. I just read a post of someone who got Free dining Xmas week, the 20th to the 26th, after talking to a couple different CM's, and I think the 20th is the last day for check in. There is a whole thread on the discount. I'll give you the link just in case you might want to check it out. I hate for you to give up when there are other discounts besides the AAA one. At least it's worth a try!

Thanks so much for your help. I will check out the link. We are going this year 12/24-12/30 and next year 12/24-12/31. DH and I are both teachers so we can never travel when there seems to be codes/discounts! I'll keep looking, but I'm not getting my hopes up. I can't wait to go!!!

Your welcome! You are right, that is peak time so harder to get discounts. But, with the economy, maybe disney will surprise us at those times! We can hope, right? Anyway, sounds like you two are going on a great holiday vacation. I hope you two have a magical Christmas at disney!!
