How much is the AAA discount? Is there a discount for Easter? Would it be worth joining just for a disney trip?:cool1:

I believe that during peak season it's 10% off rack rate. The savings really depends on where you were planning to stay- the higher priced the resort= the more money saved.

Easter is Peak Season. AAA discount is 10% off Deluxe, and 15% off the Moderate and Value resorts. But the All-Star Suites are not available for an AAA discount, so don't get AAA planning to stay there.

I am already booked through disney at POP April 6-14 with dining. Should I join AAA for $20 and try to get the discount added? Total trip is about $2500.:confused3

I would call first and see if there are any rooms still available for the AAA discount. Supposedly there are only so many that are eligible, so if those are already booked, then it wouldn't be worth the money to get AAA unless you were going to get it any way. BTW, how do you get it for $20? Is it through your job or something? I know that if I join here it's about $42 for the year.

If there is availibility, discount is 15% off room portion of your package(value hotel, peak season according to mousesavers), so assuming standard room priced at 119 a night

119X.15=17.85 X 8 nights = 142.80 +tax =about 161 savings.

We just booked Poly LVC for August and received a 15% discount for AAA.

For us, staying during value season for 13 nights, getting the membership just for Disney was more than worth it. Even after paying for that, we saved 10% off the price of the whole package w/dining and park hoppers for all days.

Give 'em a call, and see what they can offer you. They'll still give you quotes even if you're not a member - at least, that's what they did for me!

The only way to get both the AAA discount off the room portion of a MYW package and the dining plan is to book directly through a AAA travel agency. Discounts are subject to availability, so sometimes certain resorts/room types are sold out. For that very reasonable $20 AAA membership fee, I would call and rebook through AAA. The savings are worth it. Plus you can save with other hotels and businesses for the rest of the year.

We always do AAA discount. We've used it from value rooms, to one-bedroom suites! Last year, the CM tried to get me to give up our discount at the BWI to pay rack rate and get the free dining. So the "free dining" would have cost us hundreds of dollars (what we were saving with the AAA discount). And we wouldn't have used all that food!

So do your homework! And crunch those numbers - everyone's family is different.

You didnt actually recieve a 10% discount off the package price althought that may be what the savings amount turned out to be equal to. AAA discounts are only off the room or room portion of the package. During value season they are 15% off deluxes and 20% off of values. This I guess could end up being the same amount as 10% off your package would have been.

I booked with AAA here today. It was a $168 savings from Disney on Port Orleans Riverside. Not a HUGE savings since I paid $98.00 for the AAA Plus membership, but still a good deal and having the AAA membership is handy to have regardless.

Does AAA give you a discount off of the dining package?? Is this available for april/may, do you know? And, do you know how much the discount is?

(Sorry for so many questions. But, my AAA TA quoted me a price via email with the dining plan and when I went to book it yesterday, she or Disney, according to her, had misquoted me and now after many hours on the phone to both of them won't honor that price. So now I am trying to look for any other discount available.)

Here is exactly what our reservations are for:

June 23-30
7 nights Port Orleans Riverside, standard room
6 days MYW base tickets
Disney Dining

When booked through WDTC, the package came to: $2889.76

When booked through AAA: $2682.98

All the same perks through AAA, yet, $200 cheaper. We had to pay $50 to join AAA. They waived the $15 application fee because we booked a package. Well worth the investment, plus we now have AAA for a year.

I already have a package booked through Disney for AKL in August. If I join AAA do I have to cancel my reservation and make a new one or will they apply discount to reservation. ( Room was hard to find, had to snatch it when someone gave it up)

Also, it is free dining OR room discount right? What other Disney discounts can I get that my Disney Visa does NOT offer??

Thanks

Also, anyone anticipate any codes for August? It seems like they are due to come out. Does AKL usually fall in the codes? Not sure what to do first.:confused3

Yes, you would need to cancel through Disney and rebook through AAA if you want a package. However, don't cancel with Disney until you book through AAA first just to make sure you get what you want. That is what I did. Also, AAA will waive their application fee for you if you book a package through them.

**Even if you join AAA, you are not guaranteed a discount on your room/package. As someone else mentioned, there are a limited number of rooms available at the discounted rate, so all of the AAA rooms may already be booked and you may not be able to save anything. Don't simply assume a 15% or 20% discount.

**Only the room is discounted, whether you book room only or a package deal. The bottom line is that you're only saving off the cost of the room itself.

**You can book a MYW Package with Dining and the AAA discount, but only through a AAA travel office. As stated above, the room is really still the only portion that is discounted. BUT...this is the only way that you can combine a AAA discount and the dining.

**The cost to join AAA differs depending on where you live. I have the Plus membership for both my husband and I and we pay about $116 per year. The additional benefits make it well worth the cost. First, there is the peace of mind of having the emergency roadside assistance. The travel discounts help too. And there are also a number of shopping discounts. We have the Wrentham Village Outlets near us and AAA has a free coupon book which you can get for various discounts at the outlets, but also, just show your card at some stores (i.e. Reebok) and you save 20% off your total purchase.

This is exactly why I suggest that you do not cancel your other reservation before looking into AAA. A good AAA agent will tell you if you can make your exact reservation before you actually join AAA. That way you can see what is best for you!
