I was reading online that you can use your AAA card and get discounts on dining and merchandise. Do they have to actually scan the membership or do you just need to show them?
I asked about AAA discount everywhere we went in March 2021, all cashiers denied the discount. I've read older blogs of people who booked their Universal vacation (hotel & tickets?) thru AAA & got some sort of discount booklet, but I've never done it myself so I have no idea if this is their current program. I didn't call AAA to confirm any of this since I use Dreams Unlimited to book my Universal stays. I had my AAA card in my wallet but never took it out to show them since they said the only discounts they were honoring were for Annual Passholders, which I am not.
The promotion they were having when we were there was buy a $200 merchandise gift card (not usable at restaurants BUT usable at candy stores like Honeydukes. Unsure if it would work at an ice cream shop?), we got a free non-interactive wand. We could pick up the wand at any of the gift shops (front of IOA, front of USO & in CityWalk but you could only choose from what they had behind the counter at that time, you couldn't pull it from their shelves & get it for free). The merchandise gift cards have no expiration date, so you can use them on another future trip.
Years ago, you could show your AAA card for discounts. If I remember correctly, I was even able to get an onsite hotel discount.
All that is no longer a perk of AAA at Universal.
I bought my HHN tickets from AAA. I saved about $10 per ticket compared with Universal’s website. Not a huge savings, but $10 times three tickets, that paid for HHN parking.
