Since I can't get an answer from my AAA agent, I will ask this here where I know it will be answered!!! :goodvibes I currently have a package with AAA but plan to go with AP rate if they come out. Does anyone know what the cancellation policy is for AAA??? I was assuming it was the same as Disney, but I'd like to know for sure...If there is a cancellation fee, I'd still be about $300 ahead with AP rate based on the rates we got last year.

My AAA TA said full refund 45 days before travel. Within the 45 days there is a penalty.

I was looking into the cancellation policy for AAA as well and mommykds is correct about cancelling before the 45 days to get a full refund, however I if you purchase the vacation insurance with them, that that is NON-REFUNDABLE. Usually the insurance runs about $120.00. That is one of the reasons I haven't booked my vacation with AAA yet because I don't want to risk losing $120 if a better discount code comes out afterward.

You don't have to get the insurance when you book more than 45 days before travel; it actually makes no sense since your deposit is fully refundable. Only when you approach the 45 day window should you get the insurance.

BDKlein-

If I don't get the insurance throught AAA when I book. Can I still get it when I have reached the "44 days and less" period. Or do I have to get that through another company?

Not sure what happens if you don't get the insurance at the 45 day mark.

Our AAA paperwork also says 25 per person fee for cancellation. I believe the FULL refund outside of 45 days is standard refund for Disney packages no matter where you book but AAA is going to charge you a fee if you cancel for their time lost. At least mine is. :(

I can handle the $25, but I didn't want to have a large amount for a fee. Thanks everyone!!! :goodvibes

I've been told you have to get the insurance by the time you make your final payment on the package.

It's pointless to get it before your final payment.

Example:

You book your package w/no insurance and pay the $200 deposit, the next day you change your mind and cancel--- you'll get the $200 refunded.

You book your package w/insurance and pay the $200 deposit, the next day you change your mind and cancel--- you're out $120!!

I have yet to add the insurance to my AAA package, final payment is due March 1st. My agent will add it when I call to make my final payment. I too didn't want to risk paying for insurance if I were to cancel/change my plans.

nin8jc, so you were able to book your package (hotel and tickets) without the insurance with AAA and then had your agent just add it before you final payment, that is great. I am going to tell my agent to do the same thing when I finally book. I am not going until september, but don't want to waste time and risk rates going up higher later on. I just didn't want to risk being out $120 for the insurance if I decided to cancel.

I just booked through AAA this morning. The $25 and insurance if you bought it is non-refundable. Additionally if you cancel 44 days to 6 days out there is a $100 charge by Disney. If less than six days the charge is $200 by Disney.
I don't buy insurance and after the 45 day mark I don't watch anymore so if an AP rate comes out in that time frame I only loose $25 but the AAA price already saved $400+ over the online Disney quote for 7 nights LV at the GF with 7 day hoppers. :goodvibes The countdown is on!
