AAA cancellation policy?

I did it! I paid for my vacation in full yesterday (45 days out) Very excited!!!
However, very confused too. After paying in full, I asked my TA with AAA about the cancellation. I do not intend on cancelling, but I have a very sick sister in law... Anyway, my TA said there is no cancellation policy.

I remember reading on another thread a few days ago that there was a penalty, but that you got most of the money refunded if you cancelled prior to 5 or 6 days before your arrival date. Does anyone know?

Also, if there is in fact no cancellations available, I want to buy travel insurance. I have been on insuremytrip.com and received a quote. How long do I have to buy insurance? Does the amount increase as you get closer to your departure date?

Any information would be much appreciated. Thanks.

One thing to watch for on the travel insurance - they often exclude pre-existing conditions. So if you cancel due to your sister-in-law, it may not be covered.

I think AAA would follow the same rules as if you had purchased from WDW direct. If you reserved room only, you can cancel 6 days or more ahead for a full refund. If you have a package, $100 fee 6 to 45 days ahead, $200 fee less than 6 days ahead.

I would agree with the previous poster. When I asked my AAA TA about cancellation, she said let me check with Disney, then came back on the phone and told me I would lose $100 if I cancelled within 45 days (cause I have the dining pkg). So I would assume they are following Disney policy.

My AAA agent says that AAA follows Disney's policys for cancellations. I have taken the following information directly from my itinerary that I received last week when I booked my June 06 vacation:

"Vendor Cancellation Policy: Cancellations made 45 - 7 days prior will result in a $100 penalty/cancellations made within the 7 days will result in a $200 penalty plus hotel penalties. As stated in the brochure: Cancellation penalties apply. Access America Insurance is recommended"

Thanks for the information. I didn't think my AAA agent really knew the rules. She doesn't seem very knowledgeable about Disney in general. Your information really helped.

AAA does not have a cancellation policy for WDW. The cancellation policy IS WDW. AAA has to follow it. And it is as stated above.
