AAA 09' rate / Watch thread

I'm on the lookout for these as well. Do the AAA rates on packages come out at the same time that the package prices are released by Disney?

I would love to know too... Does anyone know an approx discount on the packages booked through AAA opposed to booking with Disney directly? (I have always booked with Disney but I am thinking of joining AAA for the discount):) Thank you

I booked a package for 5 of us last year through AAA which included dining staying at POR. Our travel party included DH, myself, DD14, DD9, DD6 and the total price was around $3400 so I figured that I saved somewhere around $200-$300. We traveled in May during regular season if that helps. Oh, and my AAA agent said that I didn't need to join to get prices. She priced the package, I liked it and didn't have to put any money down for 2 weeks(complimentary hold she called it), and then she suggested that I not join AAA until right before I leave for vacation because Disney might ask for it but she didn't need proof of membership. I joined a month before I left (it was $60 for the year) and of course was never asked by Disney for proof. Hope that helps!:goodvibes

Thank you....

I just booked a AAA package for 10/8-10/13/08. I don't know the exact savings, but I was able to get a preferred room at All-Star Movies cheaper then a standard at All-Star Sports. Sports was my main choice, but I'm all for the cheaper rate.

We will be away for 10 days in the middle of August..I hope they come out soon, so i don't have to try and call from the Bahamas..

I am considering signing up for a AAA membership for a discount on my Disney trip but I want to book a package so I guess I would have to book with AAA. How much of a discount (if anyone knows) do they offer on packages or would it be the same deal as booking with Disney directly.

I did extensive cheapskate searching on my May trip since I was paying for three rooms and 10 people and staying at the Grand Californian. I found the best deal was to book the room with my AAA, but NOT do an AAA package. Then I got the tickets through Disney, at the time of room booking, but they gave me the website discount. Then I used my DVC card for food discounts..although AAA has some as well. I did not find that any package beat booking components on my own. Of course I didn't get the little extras, but those were not worth it for me. The closest deal, and one I might choose in the future if the extras are appealing, was offered by Getawaytoday. I felt AAA was worth it for the discounts and I think I'll renew. I had only gotten the card for this trip (train discounts too) but I used it quite a bit.

But, booking for WDW can be very different than booking DL trips. I did a DL trip in May and am doing WDW in August. AAA was the way to go for my trip to WDW. To me, the prices and the perks are better for WDW.

BTW, for those of you who just joined AAA, if you do other (non-Disney :scared1: ) travel, check the AAA website before you book hotels. You do have to enter your AAA number there, but I've generally gotten better prices that way vs. others I've tried. (Wish I could get the government rates!) My membership pays for itself every year.

What are the "perks"??? I am all about perks...... (I will enjoy the discount prices too)

I would love to get a AAA price. Is this how soon you have to book? I dont mind just always wondered, cause I always miss out.

Thanks
Sarah

I totally agree! Whenever we get the AAA travel specials booklet in the mail the quotes for Disneyland seem WAY to expensive and they don't even include food! That's why I'm glad I'm a local and have an AP! But the hotels are still to expensive with the AP rate ($320! Are you kidding me?! I could stay at a Deluxe at WDW for cheaper!!!:scared1: )

I don't know how much we saved when we went in 2006 but we ended up paying $4500-$5000 for five of us (four adults, one child) to stay at POR for six nights/seven days with the DDP + airfare. I think it was rather good considering we went in June!:)
