AA Discounts

I have been reading on the US side of this Dis about people getting discount at places in DTD and other places with their AAA cards. As far as I can work out AA is the same and can be used in the US like the AAA cards?

Can anyone tell me if this is correct and have they used their AA cards for discounts?

If so where can you use it and what sort of discounts can you get?

I have used mine in the past at Hard Rock and also room discount with Disney

Like Nigel we have also used AA as AAA at universal/Hard rock. We took out AA membership just for the discounts (at the time it was £7 via Quidco)

I just bought another years AA cover, needed breakdown cover anyway but the AAA discounts are a bonus.
I got Roadside Assist, Accident help, Home start & National recovery for both myself & DW in any vehicle for £134 less £60 Quidco = £74 paid.
If you don't want the AA cover then as Rob says you can buy basic cover for £7 to gain AAA discounts in US.

Once you have got into the site you can search for local discounts using same ZIP code.
Just seen Mimi's Cafe offer 10%, never knew that, one of our favourite places to eat.

Thats great thanks for the advice, we have been AA members for a while but for some reason its only recently I noticed this

Mine was done at time of booking, but not sure if this applies to all bookings
I was not asked to show my card when checking in or out of the hotel

AAA discounts can only be applied to US bookings not UK bookings. And as you can cancel a booking right upto the day before check in you can get AAA discount applied to existing reservations. Just check you can't get better discounts elsewhere. AAA and AP discounts are not usually the best around.
