QOTD for Wednesday, January 14, 2016

Here we go again!!

It's time for another WOOHOO Wednesday!!!

I'm packing tonight for our 1st RNR Half Marathon weekend! :woohoo:

We're heading to Disneyland tomorrow to check out the runDisney expo for the Star Wars race weekend. We aren't participating in this one due to scheduling conflicts, but we at least will hit the merch expo to find some new running shirts from RawThreads and maybe the runDisney merch booth.

#Racecation2016 officially starts Friday as we head off to Phoenix. I am both excited and terrified for the HM. I did see that RNR does something different than runDisney - they pick you up via the sag wagon and drop you further along the course if you're behind... AND they close part of the race and send you further along so you don't lose speed/time. They're wanting you to finish --- unlike Disney and the sweepers. This will be a great year of practice for me before I hit up the runDisney races in 2017.

I am fully motivated to make the best out of January and I know that being sick always causes me to gain weight as I am a comfort eater

Feel better - sending along thoughts of positivity that you'll break even or lose just a little bit this month.

my whoo hoo is that it snowed last night we got about 7 inches

SNOW. That's amazing. We don't get snow in Southern California so I always get a bit excited when people mention snow.

I negative split my run last night for the VERY FIRST TIME.

Congrats on your run times - that's awesome! Now don't you feel motivated to keep moving and running?

Today, the dress is loose! Like really loose! and I don't feel like I'm bursting out of it. I just slapped a belt on and felt amazing.

YEAH!! Look at your hard work. Sometimes it's hard to see progress in a mirror - but clothes tell a different story. ENJOY TODAY :D

my wooohooo is I've averaged 12,000 steps a day for the past week.

Great job. Building up a routine is tough work, but you've managed to do it consistently. Keep it up!

And yes, DH and DD and DS all bought or are buying PB tickets today..... so I will be rich by this time tomorrow!

Good luck on winning. We aren't buying any tickets. I'll be saving my money :)

Another freezing cold day in Ontario. Snowed all day yesterday and the wind is crazy today so I decided to go be a mall walker this morning instead of going to use the dreadmill :) 3.6k

@courtneybeth enjoy the runDisney expo and have a great HM run. You will do great.

Have fun this weekend! You got this!!! :cheer2:

YAY WEDNESDAY! I've got 2 woohoos!

Woohoo #1 - I negative split my run last night for the VERY FIRST TIME. It was an indoor run, 3 mi total. The first mile was 13:03, mile 2 was 12:43 and mile 3 was 12:13. That run ended on a true runner's high and I didn't feel like I was worn out by the end.

Woohoo #2 - This morning I put on a dress that I bought to wear at the beginning of 2015 for an annual work dinner. I was heavier and definitely filled out the dress in a not-so-good way. Looking at those pictures of myself was the first time that I truly saw the fat lady that I had allowed myself to become. Today, the dress is loose! Like really loose! and I don't feel like I'm bursting out of it. I just slapped a belt on and felt amazing.

Those are great WooHoos! Negative splits are tough, so you have my total admiration. That is my goal with every run, because I have a tendency to go out to fast and then fall apart early. But, it rarely happens. I had my first negative split race at a 10k in October and smiled the whole drive home because I was so happy I'd finally done it. Great job!!! And too loose clothing is always a happy thing:)

That's a great analogy! I love that! I am definitely going to think about that when I don't want to exercise!

I am Woohoo-ing that my birthday is tomorrow and there will be delicious cake! I know that's so counter intuitive to this group haha! But I LOVE the bakery it's coming from -- simply divine!

We have a pretty big pool at work-- I'm surprised at how many people and how much they put in. I'd like to believe that we have better odds, but mainly we're all having fun with our 2 dollar dreams this week LOL!

Happy Almost Birthday. I have a busy day tomorrow and may not make it on here, so I didn't want to miss it:)

my wooohooo is I've averaged 12,000 steps a day for the past week.

Nice! I am really struggling with my steps this month so I am jealous;) I have a Garmin 225 that sets a goal every day for me based on recent step counts, and its been going down everyday lately. Gotta work on that. Great job with 12,000!

Good luck at the half Marathon! Have fun:)

I got out of work early a few days this week and I didn't eat much then napped, then got up and ate then went back to bed. So tomorrow needs to break that cycle.

It also snowed. I really need to start accepting that I'm going to be running inside more now. It's not cold enough for the snow to really melt to the side of the streets where I need it to in order to be safe training. All I can think of is the shin splints I'm going to get at my race in Feb if yesterday was my last outdoor run. It's going to hurt.

I just hope this winter stays okay. I can't deal with being the snowiest city in the US again.

I take it a city in Northern Arizona of all places had the title some what so far. 30 inches in Flagstaff so far. The ski resort was so busy they had to turn people away. Whoa! I don't think they even had to add man made snow on the ski hills this year. lol Of course down here near Phoenix we get none. I miss it, but not the extremely cold days or the shoveling. I've never driven on snow it would be scary. :scared:

QOTD for Wednesday, January 14, 2016

Here we go again!!

It's time for another WOOHOO Wednesday!!!

CONGRATULATIONS - you are now halfway through the week, and almost halfway through the MONTH. January is just FLYING by! I'm so proud of everyone for making it this far. I have seen some amazing progress - both numerically and with NSV's - and I'm really just so excited for all of us. Remember, if you're feeling discouraged, or down, or just kind of "blah", DON'T GIVE UP. That feeling is temporary but the changes you are making can be permanent if you just stick with it, even through the rough patches.

What's got you WOOHOOING today?!

Anyone playing Powerball tonight? ;-) We've got our tickets ready - DH's office is doing a pool. Fingers crossed a Dis friend gets it - how cool would that be!?

I just realized I never got the results posted. Ugh. So sorry! That WILL be happening today!!

I guess I'm woohooing 3 more hours on my ridiculously low schedule. I had some fill ins and turned some down because it leaves me on call 24/7 all week. They think I am anyway. It gets old. But my work history in the last 8 years or so has not but great so I'm sticking it out just reaching a year soon and just started early stages of finding something new. My other woohoo is I did an hour of dance game with my dd yesterday plus some strength(arm weights and squats with weights(or gallon jugs actually) and my legs sure feeling it today. So woohooing sore legs(in a good way).

Nope not playing powerball. I don't even have $1 to put in it. Broke until Friday. But my brother is likely buying one and said he'd get me a house and car. hehe :rolleyes1

my whoo hoo is that it snowed last night we got about 7 inches and I came to work today.. LOL sometimes I just cant get in passenger seat and come in (takes about 35 mins on a good day) today I got up tried not to stress about, when my hubs pulled out of the drive I pulled out my phone -now I sometimes get motion sick so it was a crap shoot- but I added a DD card to my app, then I surfed around FB for quite a bit then I sent some text messages then we were almost at work and no motion sickness .. there was really only one town that didn't do too good of a job plowing.. and drinking 3 -4 of these full of water per day at my desk doesn't seem so bad.. my Disney on Ice splurge ($12 lemonade!) be back at lunchtime to see what everyone else is whoo hooing about..

View attachment 144985
Yay for making it. Do you just not drive in snow? or the slippery movements cause the motion sickness more? I get vertigo which is so so close to motion sickness the symptoms similar mine happens when I get fluid in my middle/inner ear. Saw an ENT years ago. Meclinzine helps some I know its used for motion sicknes too. But I found a essential oil based product that helps quite a bit. Walmart has a cheaper version. The one i had came across years ago is a brand that still runs $15 but I get the other brand at Walmart(not great value but cheaper version for sure) for just under $5 before taxes.

YAY WEDNESDAY! I've got 2 woohoos!

Like really loose! and I don't feel like I'm bursting out of it. I just slapped a belt on and felt amazing.

Nice times. I don't think I can walk one mile in 15 minutes anymore but with some more work I can get back there. I used to. Most of the last few times I went out I did about 20 minute walking miles. The one 5K I did for Autism walk, I did in under an hour around 45 minutes I think. They didn't have these fancy apps back then and if they did I didn't have the "fancy" phone for it. Or free in case of my mapmy walk app.

I am Woohoo-ing that my birthday is tomorrow and there will be delicious cake! I know that's so counter intuitive to this group haha! But I LOVE the bakery it's coming from -- simply divine!
!

In case I don't post tomorrow. :bday: :cake: Enjoy. I've been in the mood for cake. I had red velvet in Nov for my birthday. I wanted pineapple upside down cake but didn't want to bake it with the small amount of propane we had at that time. Next birthday in the family is Feb but the kid is in San Diego and we may or may not make it out for his birthday. I know in March I'll make or buy a cake for my brother. Been craving plain vanilla cake and vanilla frosting. A lady commented on me buying ONE donut in a bag once at the grocery store. My dd wanted to get some and I told her pick one. I told the cashier it was to keep that junk out of my house. lol I just buy the one for the kid. But for celebrations I'll have a slice. Or in my birthday case I usually have one on the night of and for breakfast next day. HEHE

I think last nights revelation was you're more likely to get struck by lightning while also being attacked by a shark.

Yep. I'm in the "pool" of pretty sure my brother is buying some and possibly in pool at work too(usually they do one). I just rarely buy a tickets. I bought one ticket that I recall in the last 10 years. Odds are not great but definitely can't without one. My brother usually does $2 I guess lately. One he picks and one quick pick. I think. If he won I'd have a house and car. ;)

my wooohooo is I've averaged 12,000 steps a day for the past week.

Yay nice step count.

I'm packing tonight for our 1st RNR Half Marathon weekend! :woohoo:

So nice that they move you further ahead and let you finish. But in some ways I see Disney's idea to keep to hours for volunteers and workers. I know a lot of other races will sweep too.

Love reading everyone's woohoos! Always so much positive energy!

My woohoo for today is that I managed to pack some carrots as a healthy snack at work today!

I missed breakfast. Got called very last minute to start a new client today. I said yes because I'm out that way anyway(its about 20 miles from my house) those days. I'll add up to 8 hours maybe now. 12 if my other one comes back. My hours currently are set so I can just be home for meals. But before I packed a lunch(usually leftovers) when I was at my clients or traveling between from 7:30 to 2 and always needed something to eat. I packed fruit a lot too its quick to grab. I like carrots though and many years ago on Weight Watchers I did baby carrots. I got soooo sick of them. They just don't taste right to me anymore. I started having teeth problems and they were too hard. Now I get whole organic ones(organic is same cost at my store so I figure why not) that taste so much better, I just need to prep them some to have ready.

@Zoesmama03 looks like flagstaff just got taken off my where to move to list haha.

It's so nice to see all the positive energy in here. Yay for wenesdays!!

I do have a wooo hooo but I'm scraping the bottom of the barrel here because its been a rough day.

I got enough money in extras from work to pay off my April and May trip, or just CSR in April.

Thoughts on Pop for someone who didn't like an all-star? Should I give pop a try?

I'm packing tonight for our 1st RNR Half Marathon weekend! :woohoo:

Good luck! Post pictures and updates! But don't tell me if it's terrible so I don't talk myself out of one lol.

And too loose clothing is always a happy thing:)

Thank you! It's so hard, especially running outside. On the treadmill it's much easier to control the pace because I know what's slow and what's fast just looking at the speed. It's not always easy to "feel" it when running outside. So that's a whole new goal.

Thank you! It definitely took me a long to build up to those times. When I very first started it was more walking than running and it was slower than a 16 minute mile (that was my initial goal for runDis sweepers). So it's taken over a year and 35 pounds to get going. So you can definitely work your way back up there!

I like it up there. This year seems to have gotten much more than usual. It's really nice to escape up there in summer. It shaves at least 10 off the crazy temps.

That is great. Now you can keep payments going towards your next trip. :)

Hey, everyone! LOVE the energy in here today! Woohoo Wednesdays are my most favorite QOTD's. I love all of the positivity!

It's been a crazy couple of bad days here. Yesterday was somewhat productive, but definitely more out of frustration than anything else. Today was a definite wash - thanks to a migraine that hit about 10pm last night, I ended up going back to sleep after this morning's QOTD and sleeping until 2pm... Completely not getting done what I needed to. I'm working on an order of 2 Mickey wine glasses that I want to get out this week, but I wasn't happy with a couple of the Mickeys on the 2nd glass, so DH & I ran to get a replacement and a few other things we needed... Halfway through the 2nd glass, I realize it's chipped. UGH. Definitely not sending out a chipped glass, so it's on to glass #3 tomorrow. Sigh.

A little late, but here are the results from our first progress report! LOVE the numbers that I am seeing here, you guys! We are doing an amazing job this month!!!! What a way to start off the new year!!

QOTD for Thursday, January 14, 2016

"This represents discipline. This represents strength. You need both to reach the arrow."

Y'all, this movie is so deep.

Haha, ok, maybe it's not that deep. But, it is relevant!

That arrow at the top of the pole? That's your goal weight, your ideal size, your perfect image. That's what you are fighting for, that's what you're training to reach. But, boy, will it take some strength and discipline to get you there. It won't be easy. Just like Yao, you might take a running leap and fall flat on your... well, you know. But you can't get discouraged! You can't quit!! You must be swift as a coursing river! With all the force of a great typhoon! Like Mulan, you might have to approach the challenge a different way, but as long as you don't give up and quit when it looks like you can't keep going, you WILL reach that arrow!!

Let's talk about our tools and weapons today. I know a lot of use MFP, WW, and Fitbits to stay on track, and of course we have our group! Are there any other tools or apps or support systems you have to help you out? I heard about three iPhone apps tonight - Spring, CharityMiles, and Shopwell - that I plan to look into over the next few days. Has anyone tried any of them, or any others?

LET'S GET DOWN TO BUSINESS TO DEFEAT THE HUNS. Donny Osmond, I love you. :lovestruc

I started using Charity Miles as part of the Hogwarts Running Club (they're announcing their next event in two days!). It's pretty neat that you can use your workouts to help people in need.

Otherwise, it's the MFP and FitBit for me.

QOTD- My tools are WW, this thread, and my supportive family. I don't use any apps.

That being said, I'm struggling this week. I'm tired and have sinus congestion - haven't been exercising as much and have been eating more. It's freezing out! Just makes me want to eat and not go out to the gym. I will break out of this funk today!

@JacknSally, can you post a link to your Etsy shop?

@Zoesmama03 - I just hate driving or riding in the snow.. I am such a nervous nelly .. I am afraid of sliding off, someone hitting us, us hitting someone just evertything that has to do with snow and ice on the roads.. I get motion sick when I read in the car - so FBing in the car is very similar to reading lots of scrolling etc so sometimes it makes sick to my stomach - I also get vertigo same like you wet inner ear thing! UGH..

@courtneybeth while the Snow is pretty - it makes things horribly messy (and scary for me) for at least a day I would like it much better if I could just hermit in the winter and just be out in the world mid March - late Nov I'd just like to skip DEC - early March HAAAA

@flvy I LOVE THE POP!!! it has it's own busses, the food court is yummy, the pools are no thrills but good to dip into .. however that being said I travel as 2 adults, no kids and we are gone from sun up to sun down most days ..

@JacknSally you must have missed my weight in I am at 45% of my 4 lb goal

@Lady Marie Happy Happy Happy Birthday - enjoy every bite of your delish cake!!! Hope your day is Magical and sprinkled with Pixie Dust !!

@CruisingKate feel better - my sinuses have been acting up for 3 weeks, they can't make up their mind if they want to be a full blown sinus infection or just a bother!!

QOTD -- I use WW and my WW journal mostly.. I like the Live Strong for my online app.. My family is doing a good job of supporting me.. That being said - I need to add activity in :( don't really like anything, don't have room in my small mobile for treadmill, and its FREEZING out most days when I get home from work to go for a walk.. I do have a hula hoop and I should do at least.. I think that will be my goal for next week since I am doing very well on my goal so far of making sure I drink enough water..

Today is the sign up day at work for our WW program and they have made some changes to how it works , it now depends on how many signup on week 1 as to how many classes you get for your $$ - we have 15 paid members already and have 15 more who said they coming to the meeting today to pay and signup making our total over 20 people so we get the max # of weeks which is 20 for $112 that is just over $5.50 per week.. gotta love that!!! I also heard that if you buy the new calculator today it will only be $10 so I hope the leader has enough! I am shooting to lose 15 lb in these 20 weeks so that would put me at 160 to start the summer (and hopefully be able to wear the bathing suit I got a few years back when I was doing atkins)

well that was novel.. have a great day everyone be back after my WW weigh in..

Good morning everyone!! Still trying my best to fight that horrible bug and so far seems like I might win the battle without having to fight very hard for it. That would be nice!

QOTD: my most important tool is my kitchen scale. When I am at home, I put nearly everything I eat on it. Exceptions are packaged foods when I use the whole package, for example I eat the whole 150g tub of yoghurt, I don't weigh it, I just go with the manufacturer' declaration. I find that this helps so much with tracking and also with learning about what portion sizes should look like.

@courtneybeth good luck and have fun at your event this weekend!! :cheer2:

@Lady Marie :bday:

I don't know that I posted a woo hoo actually yesterday I took the recovery day option as I felt I really needed it. My step count was awful and I went over calories. It was a boo hoo Wednesday for me :worried:

Today I'm back on my WO program and today's looks intense! But I will do it! I have the day to myself with nothing scheduled so no excuses!

My tools are MFP, Fitbit, the 8 week program I enrolled in through www.fearlessandbalanced.com or fearless and balanced on FB and so recently adding in HIIT (high intensity interval training), classes at my local gym, Walk with a Dog app, similar to charity miles but donates to local shelters, and my Aria scale that links to my Fitbit account

Charity miles question - I joined a team, but I could figure out how to get a walk started? Am I missing something? I joined a smaller team that I had to search for, not one that popped up as suggested

Hummm tools... I use my garmin mostly, mfp when I remember, and map my run when inside because I don't want to buy a foot pod. For someone who sells it I'm not really into a lot of tech, apps or gadgets.

I'm in such a funk right now. I'm giving myself today and then I'm snapping out of it. I have to much stuff to accomplish I can't really be taking time to wallow.

I just downloaded Charity Miles so I'm going to look into that! One thing that I rely on heavily is my Garmin watch. I'm in looooove with this watch. It keeps track of calorie burn and steps and I can sync it with a program that I have at work that gives me points for every exercise that I do. So it's great. I also regularly am on Instagram and I lurk quite a bit on the weightwatchers and NSV hashtags. People from all different diets use these and they post food and recipes, workout motivation, and before and after pics. I find it so motivating to surround myself with these, plus I like being able to see what other people are eating to try and give myself new ideas. And then personally taking before/during pics has also been a great tool for me. I haven't done it in a while, I was waiting until I got under 200. But it really shows the progress and that helps on days when I feel like I'm not getting anywhere.
