Hello Pin pals,
I was just sitting hear reading the boards, enjoying the stories and the many good things happening to many at this most wonderful season we celebrate.
It makes me reflect back to a year ago, my how time flys. My Pop-a-dop had just passed and I was wondering how I was gonna do at Christmas with him gone. Untill hubby came along, he was the one who always made sure I got a POOH at Christmas.
When I shared my loss on the boards, the support was overwhelming. I began to recieve cards, letters and yes, even a few pins. Then someone with the last name Gregory from If I remember right, Alabama, sent me the most wonderful package filled with Pooh!! No card, no name, board or otherwise. But I have always been sure of one thing...it was a pin pal!!
A group of special friends, Ed, Donna, Michele,Manny, Dana, Micheal and kids, Micheal, Corey, Bob & June, got together and sent me the most beautiful card when I missed last years Christmas pin event. That one made me bawl.
It just struck me as nothing short of amazing how the pin community reached out and touched me. Many that I have never and may never actually see in person. But just as special, those I have met and become such close friends with, that I would never had known were it not for these small metal pieces that we cherish.
I have slowed down somewhat in trading, mostly because my collections has grown so, but I think mainly because when I go to a meet, I just enjoy sitting and visiting with my friends.
the pins have become secondary. Although it has become something special that I can now share with my sister.
We were separated for 15 years. And it's like we're getting to know each other again, which is really awesome!! She is my best friend, confidant and now my pin pal!!
I hope everyone has a very blessed Merry Christmas and a joyful prosperous new year.
