A Year Is Way Too Long To Wait! We Just Keep Booking Trips!

Well discount dates came out last week, and they are not favorable to us. I refuse to pay rack rate for any Disney property, so I will be canceling our stay at CR in January. We have not decided if we will go that weekend or wait and go latter in the year.

Had a great time this weekend but it was HOT! I'll be back latter with my thoughts.

Well I spoke too soon! I called to cancel my CR resie and told the CM that it was because the discounts were not valid for my dates. She was so sweet and so determined to find me a discount that would work for me. She honestly loved her job and the Disney company and makes it her goal to make everyone she talks to as happy as she possibly can. You could hear the excitement and passion in her voice. Well she came through for me! The PIN she found was only good for a CL room at CR, which I really didn't want, so we checked BLT and with help of some pixie dust were able to apply a 35% PIN to a 1BR at BLT :dance3: It is a standard view, but I will work on upgrading that in the future, I was just happy to get a discount!!!!

Now I just need hubby to say ok ;)

With the mood DH has been in, I'll be lucky if I get to Disney at all in January :( I may have to settle for off prop again. Time will tell.

 Sorry Melissa, I hope you get to go! It will make up for the Feb. trip at little! I hope I hope I hope pixiedust:

Yeah not really complaining been 3 times in the last 5 weeks. I think one of the things besides the money that DH likes about LBVRV is that we get two bedrooms and more importantly he gets a balcony that he can sit outside and smoke his cigar at night ;)

We had decided a few weeks ago that we would leave Thursday evening instead of early of Friday morning. We had such a good deal at the Lake Buena Vista Resort Village and Spa (LBVRV) that the paying for the extra night so we would not have to wake up at the crack of dawn and have tired cranky kids (and adults) all day was totally worth it. Waking up Friday morning totally refreshed and mostly rested was a perfect way to start the day and for us girls, the start of Food and Wine :thumbsup2

Since the kids and hubbies were heading to the MK it was easy enough to all drive over to the TTC together and then say our good byes as they went on the Express monorail and we got on the Epcot monorail  If you have never been to Disney without kids, it is honestly a surreal experience. It took us a few minutes to realize we were alone, there was no fighting about who got the window seat on the monorail, fighting about which ride we do first, no trying to keep track of where the kids were in the crowds. It was honestly heaven :cutie:

We arrived at Epcot so before the WS opened with the hopes of finding a cute t-shirt at the Festival Center that we could both get. We were very disappointed to see the selection of t-shirts. There were only a few designs and the ones that were really cute were cut for the tiniest of people. Seriously the adult small may have even been small on Sarah. Having a larger bust there was no way I was fitting in those shirts :sad2:

A little disappointed we made our way over to the WS entrance by Canada. We had decided ahead of time that we wanted to end our day with frozen margaritas in Mexico :p Because it was Friday and early there were little to no lines at the various kiosks. I did not take as many pictures as I had planned, but that always seems to be the case. The Disney Food Blog has some great pictures of the selections at each country.

So just what did we try:
Canada
Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup - YUMMY!

Le Cellier Wild Mushroom Beef Filet Mignon with Truffle Butter Sauce - very disappointed, the meat was dry and tough, which should never be the case with filet, especially from Le Cellier.

Mission Hill Family Estate Syrah - YUMMY! I am a huge fan of Syrah's and this was very good!!

Ireland
Lobster and Seafood Fishermans Pie - was good, a little rich but good flavor with a large piece of a lobster claw and a decent size shrimp.

France
Boeuf Bourguignon (Braised Short Ribs in Cabernet with Mashed Potatoes) - DELICIOUS!!! The meat just melted in your mouth and the gravy was so flavorful!

Eiffel Sour Cosmo Slush (Vodka, Grey Goose Cherry Noir, Grand Marnier, Cranberry Juice) - could this ever really disappoint??? We knew we would go back for seconds for this at some point, and we did :drinking1 We decided that we are going to try to recreate this drink for our summer beach vacation!

Belgium
Belgian Waffle with Warm Chocolate Ganache and Whipped Cream - this was a perfect melt in your mouth waffle! David went back on Saturday and said his waffle was under cooked, but ours was perfect!

Hops & Barley
Lobster Roll with Lemon Herb Mayonnaise - this was disappointing because we have been to the Linda Bean's location by us and had her lobster rolls before and knew we liked them, but this one was dry and just lacked flavor.

At this point we were at the American Pavillion and decided to take a break in the Chase lounge so we could get some soda and water and cool off a bit. The sun was blazing and it was HOT outside, even for us southern Floridians ;)

DH loved that the master was faaaaarrrr from the kids (and DMIL) ;) I thought about switching for December, but I can't do that to my poor TA :lmao:

I could get DH to agree to a kids free WDW trip in a heartbeat....the snacks and slushies...AHHHHH Heaven. I take them all!!! It's SO relaxing without the kids..I didn't even have mommy guilt :rotfl2:

Where have I been that I did not know about this PTR :confused3

But I am here now after seeing you and Jeanette mention it on the RC thread :)

Cooled down and hydrated we made our way back out into the :sunny:

Florida Local
Florida Grass Fed Beef Slider with Monterey Jack and Sweet & Hot Pickles - it was good but nothing special.

Florida Orange Groves, Hurricane Class 5 White Sangria - I am not usually a sangria drinker but this was very good and refreshing on a hot day.

Italy
Ravioli de formaggio all’emiliana - another disappointment. It wasn't the that the ravioli was bad, it just needed more sauce and was a little to cheesy if that is even possible :confused3

Italian Margarita - oh my! This was dangerous  Tasted like frozen lemonade, could not taste the booze at all!!! Very, very yummy!!!

Germany
Apple Strudel with Werther’s Original Karamel and Vanilla Sauce - I hate to say it, but this was another disappointment :sad2: The crust of the strudel was good, but the apples were very tart and it also had white raisins that just did not go with the taste profile. I have had some fabulous homemade strudel and this one just did not compare.

Cheese
Artisan Cheese Selection: Flagship Reserve Cheddar, La Bonne Vie Triple Crème Brie, Wijngaard Goats Gouda - the brie was the best part of this, the others were not bad, just not as good as the brie.

China
Mongolian Beef in a Steamed Bun - we were skeptical with the appearance of the bun, it almost looked liked plastic, but OH MY GOODNESS, it was delicious, everything was perfect about this dish, the flavor of the beef, the tenderness of the bun, the toppings, definitely a WINNER

Happy Lychee with Vodka and Tequila - now I know I like Lychee, had it before in various drinks. I took one sip of this and made a face, Brenda looked at me and said "oh no are we throwing this out" to which I replied "taste it". The best way we could describe it was "lighter fluid" :crazy2: So that quickly got dumped in the first trash can we could find. GROSS!!!

Starting to get very full, we pushed forward becoming even more selective in our choices.

Last week when I was at Epcot I had stopped in Mexico for a Fiesta Margarita.

So we knew we had to get those again ::yes:: at the Margarita kiosk in Mexico. (It was a separate kiosk from the Mexico kiosk set up for F&W)

It was so hot out they were melting very quickly.

Mexico
Taco de Ribeye with Salsa de Chipotle - another winner, the ribeye was super tender the taco itself was very tasty!

Argentina
Beef Empanada - absolutely delicious! The crust was super flaky and buttery and the meat was perfectly seasoned.
Grilled Beef Skewer with Chimichurri Sauce and Boniato Purée - another winner! Very flavorful and tender.

We really wanted to try more items, but we were just so full and hot that we decided to call it a day and head over the to the MK to meet up with our hubbies and kiddos, even though we really wanted to go back to the resort and take a nap :cloud9: :lmao:

We made our way back to the MK, met up with the hubbies and kiddos and rode POTC and the Jungle Cruise. We somehow convinced the kids to have ice cream and head out. Lines for ice cream were getting long as people were starting to line up for the parade so I suggested we take the monorail to the Contemporary and get ice cream at the Contempo Cafe and this way I could stop and get MagicBand covers for Sarah and I, as they are only sold at the test resorts right now. We also picked up some fudge while we were there. Once again, love that everything is under one roof and so accessible at the Contemporary. Here are our MagicBand covers, I chose the black with Mickey heads and Sarah chose the pink. There were a lot to choose from including Star Wars, Pirates, etc. After the our stop at CR we headed back to the resort for some swimming. As the evening went on we decided not to head back to a park and instead just order dinner in and keep enjoying the pool and pool bar . Luckily we had stopped and picked up a can of baked beans for Steven so I knew I had something he could eat. We had gotten friendly with the bar tender so she tipped us off on a great take out place that they all order from. We never even had to leave the pool, our dinner was delivered right to the pool area :thumbsup2 If anyone is interested we ordered from Flippers . They had great pizza and salads! After dinner the kids went back in the pool and even got me to go down the water slide which is dark to begin with, but at night time it is pitch black  Here is the pool area at night We were on the 15th floor and had a fireworks view and it did not disapoint! We saw fireworks from MK, Epcot, and DHS. Of course they were somewhat far off as the resort is a few miles away, but still a nice way to end the day.
