a whatever S.O.

The first year we went as a family was 2000. I hadn't been since 1976 as a VERY young child. My DH did not get involved with the planning at all, but, whenever I would ask him his opinion and he would respong, "Whatever you want to do", I made sure I replied there would be no complaining, whining or any form of negativity allowed if the "Plan" did not work out nor would he be allowed to spontaneously change the "Plan" at any time!!!! We had a great trip, everything worked out well, and now he is very active in the planning of our trips because he has become a huge DISNEY FREAK,lol!!

I just asked DH about his "whatever" responses, and he said two things--"Whatever you plan is always good," and "It's a man thing" Granted, he teases me about my Disney addiction and how he's an enabler, but he certainly loves it when I can manage getting an Epcot Illuminations Cruise, or Cindy's Breakfast (all kudos to the DIS of course). I print out some things -- like reviews of Backstage Tours-- and ask him to decide. And he's extra happy when there's a day for Typhoon Lagoon--just loves Castaway Creek.

The reason my DH doesn't do the planning for our WDW vacations is simple: He's too spontaneous!! ;) The first time we went (with a group of 8), he teased me that "all this planning is going to stifle me!" It was very...umm...nice, then, to hear him thank me over and over for all my work after the trip was done. He had the BEST time!! We leave in 11 days (!!) for our next trip (first time with HIS family), and he has since learned that WDW is best done with a plan of some sort. He helped me a bunch with his opinion on rides/meals/etc. for this trip-granted, I still do the majority, but I'm a planner by nature.

:p IVY :p

My husband is a 6 handicap golfer, so you know where his interests are. My marching orders from him for any trip are: "I want to play golf every day, I won't take a jacket or tie, and don't spend an obscenely large percentage of next year's income."

Other than that, my choices are wide open. My son and his wife were both in the college program, so I'm leaving the minutia to them. I'll get us there and back, book where we stay, get tickets and rent a car. We try to leave most everything else pretty much open. I definitely DON'T overplan each day. It's never worked well for us in the past. We just go with the flow and have fun.
