Friday, April 8

We decided to sleep in a little today as we were totally exhaused from the last 2 days. We had donuts and cereal in the room that we had bought at Target, and we were at the park about 45 min. after opening. I had read that this park didn't require a full day, so I wasn't too worried about being there first thing. We dallied a little bit at the trails near the front of the park, but I tried to get the troops moving toward Safari. I promised we would have plenty of time to look at the animals on the way out. Boy, was I wrong. We got PF for Safari. We saw It's Tough to be a Bug. We didn't need FP for this as the standby time was posted at 5 min. Kristi hated it of course. It seems the 3-D movies just really freak her out. We returned to ride the Safari, which was very good. I couldn't believe how well some of our pictures turned out considering we were on a moving truck. It is a little rough, but no more than if you were driving down a gravel road with potholes. (Some of you may have never experience that, but there's a lot of farm roads around here.) We got FP for Kali River Rapids, ate lunch, and saw Lion King. We really liked this show. There were gymnasts dressed as monkeys doing tricks in the center of the room. My girls are both gymnasts, so we liked that part. The singers were all exellent and really got the crowd involved. I liked the way the room was set up because there were no bad seats and no one was very far from the action. After this we returned to Kali. Emily got more drenched than anyone else on our boat. Next we saw the bird show, which we all enjoyed. We went to Tarzan Rocks, which I didn't really care for. There's a guy on stage who's totally into himself (and not nearly as cute as he thinks he is) singing songs from the Tarzan movie, and a bunch of people doing tricks on roller blades. Tarzan and Jane aren't even on stage for half the show. The part they are there was really good, but I didn't understand why they needed all that other stuff that didn't relate to the story at all. We hurried back across the park to see the last showing of Pocohantas. Kristi insisted that we could not miss it. We got held up by the parade on the way, but still made it in plenty of time. Both the girls liked this one because the kids get to sit right up front, and it was nice and calm and not too loud. By the time Pocohantas ended, the park was closed! We didn't make it to the rides in Dinoland at all, and we hardly got to look at the animals on the trails! If I had known this was a full day park, we could have saved it for the next day, which was EMH eve. hours and it was open til 8:30. I hope they still offer that program next time we go. We will definitely plan a full day for this park. I guess if you're only into rides, you could do this park easily in half a day, but we really like to go to all the shows, and we love to look at the animals. We went back to the hotel and were going to go swimming. We got changed into our suits and when we opened the door to leave, it was absolutely pouring! The rain was blowing sideways instead of down it was so windy! We changed back into our regular clothes, donned our ponchos, and headed for the arcade. By the time we changed out of our suits, it had stopped raining! It never fails! The girls played in the arcade for an hour or so while I browsed at Everything Pop. I kept going back to the arcade every 10 min. or so to check on them and give them each a couple more quarters. Scott grabbed a quick nap while we were out. We went back to the room and Scott was ready to get up and go to dinner. We went to ESPN at the Boardwalk. We were very disappointed in the restaurant. I felt bad because this was something special I had planned just for Scott since most of the things had been planned for the kids. We were told there were 2 dining rooms, one with tables and one with booths. If we wanted a table, we were to give our name and there was a short wait, only one party ahead of us. If we wanted a booth there was no wait. We usually prefer a booth, but we asked if there was any difference between the 2 rooms. They said no, both rooms were the same, so we took a booth. We then found out that only the other room has the basketball court floor, and they were interviewing 2 guys (sorry, don't remember who) live on ESPN in the other room. You think the hostess could have mentioned that?! The room we were in had dark carpet, there were TVs at every table that appeared to have playstation plugs, but we couldn't even figure out how to turn the channel, and it was on a game that Scott wasn't interested in anyway. The service was horrible and the food was just so-so. After dinner we hopped on a bus to DTD to do some shopping. It was late, so we didn't stay long. I was on a mission for a sweatshirt. I knew exactly which one I wanted, but I hadn't found it anywhere. I thought surely World of Disney would have it, but no luck. We went back to the room and got to bed before midnight.

Tomorrow: MGM

Were like you. We are doing AK on late EMH when we go in August so we can fit in everything. Many people say this is a half day park, but they are missing something. Can't wait for the rest of the reports.
