Last Friday I posted how our small town greeted reservatists that came home after a year in Iraq. Today we found out that a young 19 year soldier, the first from our area, was killed. God Bless him and his family. He had just graduated from hs last year.

My sympathies for the loss of this brave young man from your community. I know exactly how you feel, as about two weeks ago our town also lost a young marine who was killed in Iraq. This young man was only 23 years old and went to school with my son. He actually stayed in Iraq and extended his leave when he had served and was able to come home..but felt he was needed there. No matter what your thoughts on the war, you can't help but admire and support these folks who sacrafice so much to serve their country. Sometimes making the ultimate sacrafice. My heart breaks for their loved ones. A very different world they face, than the one they had just a few short years ago. It really brings it home when it is someone you know..with a name..and a family..and loved ones who live on your street in or in your town..it is very personal...not just another number on the news of reported killed. I know I cannot look at the flag on my home without thinking about the young man our town lost.

I am so sorry to hear this. Our community has lost 6 soliders so far and it is so hard to comprehend. The most recent was due to come home in 10 days.
