I am finally going to start this! A few things prompted me to kick this into gear.
1. people keep asking when I'm going to start, and they have finally shamed me into it.
2. my sister is taking her family in May. After hearing the news I'm slightly (only slightly) ashamed to say that my eye started to twitch, and my ears may or may not have had steam coming from them. Like I said. I am not proud.
3. I am in the process of manipulating (did I say manipulating, I mean pitching the idea..) DH to take a trip in Oct. The jury is still out. For many reasons, all of which will be revealed in due time.
The Cast:
Me, 23 year old dental hygienist. Well sorta. I am a hygienist, license and all, however, the lovely economy has made it impossibe for me to find a steady job. So I currently am a hygienist, an employee at an ice cream stand, and a housekeeping supervisor at a hotel in my town, as well as cleaning a bank in town with my mom 4 nights a week. Whew, it makes me tired to type all that. I work 7 days a week, up to 3 jobs a day, although that is rare, it happens.
DH, 24 year old.....well not sure what he is yet. The economy has been tough on him as well. Bachelors degree and no job after a year now. FINALLY last week he started with a security company doing security for a proctor and gamble plant about 15 mins away. I still do not have the greatest feeling about the job, I cannot explain why, but I'm not thrilled. It could be because it's 3rd shift. I am hoping for the best however...

This update will be word heavy and picture light (sorry!)
I had hoped that my packing over a week or so would eliminate the night before madness we always seem to encounter before any trip. I was wrong. It helped, but we were still running around crazy. I am really glad I decided to drop our dog off at the boarder early that day instead of waiting until evening or on the way to the airport. At about 10pm DH tells me that he forgot to tell me that our landlord called, and she would be showing our apartment while we were gone.
Now it wasn't a mess, but so much had been scattered around in the packing rush. On top of packing, I now had to worry about cleaning and getting our apartment "show worthy". I was slightly angry. Just a little. I believe we went to bed around 12 that night. We had a 6am alarm.
I rose bright and early at 6am, got a shower and packed my last minute items before waking DH. I rushed him around as well as I could, he is not a morning person, and is in fact one of the slowest people I have ever met. Anyways, if memory serves me correctly, we had a teeny tiny fight that morning over the fact that he was moving at slower then snails pace and we had people waiting on us. I left at 710 am to head to my parents house. I was leaving my car there and they were driving us, and DBIL to the airport. We all finally arrived and were on the road well ahead of schedule. It's a 2 hour drive to the Columbus airport and we wanted plenty of time since we are all rookie air travelers.
About 20 minutes from the airport DH started to fidget in the seat beside me. He looks as though he is looking for his wallet, which has his ID, which he needs to board the plane, which leaves in 2 hours, and we live 2 hours from the airport. Needless to say in the 10 seconds he was looking, I may or may not have had a heart attack, and the terrible things that went thru my head are not appropriate to post here on the Dis.
Alas, he found it and it was an uneventful ride the rest of the way.
Now DH has never flown. Everyone else in our group had flown except him. He was nervous, but wouldnt say so. I think this is what contributed to our fight that morning too. But after security we all felt much better, found our gate, grabbed some starbucks and hunkered down until departure time.
Our plane was 30 minutes late, but the flight was uneventful. I had forgotten how loud it is in the plane. We landed in Orlando to a bright sunny sky and 80 degree temps.
After a brief bathroom break, we rode our first monorail ride, stepped off and low and behold, there is DH's family. They met us and we talked for a few minutes before my dad hurried us all along. Backstory: My dad and DH's dad are oil and water. I am exactly like my dad so you get the drift. We all had been traveling since 8 this morning when not much more then a muffin to eat, and it was now after 3pm. We were hungry, tired, and ready to get out to the airport. My DH's family wanted to talk about plans for the week. Ok, after 10 mins we decided that DH family would meet us at DTD sometime that night, and my parents would let us know if they were comiing. Fine. lets go people, I've got the magical express to catch!
We waited in like about 20 mins before boarding, and I got my first dose of Disney "magic" on the bus. A mother and her kids were in front of me, we were some of the first to board. The mother and kids walked halfway to the back of the bus, then decided they wanted to sit up front. Insted of excusing themselves and waiting for others to take their seats, they just barreled thru me. I literally took an elbow to the ribs. Another family saw this and looked horrified. I believe I said something to the tune of "dont say excuse me or anything!" The mom who saw the action laughed and we had a nice conversation before the bus left. It was an awesome ride and I loved seeing all the palm trees!
Finally a picture! Us on ME!
We were the only 2 people out of the whole bus going to All Star Movies, and we were the last stop. Check in was quick since I had checked us in online. We were super eager for a sweet upgrade, but no dice. We went off to find our room. Mighty Ducks, bldg. 3.
Next: A huge rookie mistake, a delicious dinner, and what made me almost burst into tears....[/B][/B]
