Soak a paper towel before going into the stall.
Wipe off the seat with dry toilet paper.
Rinse the seat with the wet paper towel.
Dry off the seat again with more toilet paper.
Flush the toilet twice. You may have to step outside the stall and back in to make this happen if this is an automatic flush toilet. At this time you will hear it flush from not quite so close and can judge how scary it is for your child.
Past the sticky over the electric eye if this is an automatic flush toilet.
Now the toilet is ready for you or your child to use. If water does splash up on you, it is now cleaner than had you found a "clean" toilet in the first place that was sitting unused for more than 30 minutes.
