Just a warning and FYI of sorts - without getting into too much detail before I go and talk to the lawyer, because I'm thoroughly confused at this point - if you are the beneficiary or one of them and the executor (or co-executor) of that person(s) that has passed - make SURE you understand how it works with taxes and the such and who's taxes what gets claimed on BEFORE you do anything with any checks that you may receive from ANYTHING as a beneficiary.

Hopefully I can elaborate on this more after Saturday but since it's tax time - and I know there are several DISers who have lost loved ones, perhaps they were even the beneficiary and executor of the estate, make sure you talk to someone about how to handle the 1099's for anything you may have received (or might receive).

I probably shouldn't be posting this but I just wanted to give people a heads up in case they have not consulted with the estate attorney (if you had one) or an accountant (if you have one) on how to handle the taxes.

Sounds like excellent advice, 99. Thanks

I hope everything works out for you Chris.

Thanks for the advice.
We only got a used car, but we will look into what, if anything we have to do with that.
Good luck!
