A walk down Memory Lane ??

I am hoping that someone can dig very deep and come up with some pictures from the old Chef Mickey's... when it was at DTD (then Lake Buena Vista, I think). I would also be interested in any menu itmes anyone remembers.
I know some of you afficianados have been going there for a long, long time! Can anyone help??

The Village Restaurant became Chef Mickey's in 1990 on Sept. 30th 1995 Chef Mickey's closed and the location was renovated to become The Rainforest Cafe.

"A cozy restaurant overlooking sparkling Buena Vista Lagoon. A bruncheon menu is available from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Valet parking is available. Beef, chicken and seafood specialties. "


And here's some recipes:

Beef Stew with Biscuits
2 lb Round steak, cubed
4 T Oil
4 T Flour
1/2 c Onion, cut 1/2" pieces
1/2 c Carrots, halves lenghtwise,
-cut on bias
1/2 c Celery, cut on bias
3 T Tomato paste
4 Beef bouillon cubes
2 c Water
3 c BROWN GRAVY
1 t Paprika
1 Bay leaf
1 t Garlic
Salt and pepper
1 c Peas, cooked

------------------BAKING POWDER BISCUITS------------------
2 c Flour, sifted
1 T Sugar
4 t Baking powder
1/2 t Salt
1/2 c Shortening
1 Egg, beaten
2/3 c Milk

Chef Mickey's Village Restaurant, Disney Village
Marketplace In stew pot, add oil over high heat.
Dredge meat with flour and quickly sear a few pieces
at a time until browned. Add onions, carrots, celery,
and water to pot with meat; simmer 15 mins. Add
remaining ingreds except peas. Mix well; simmer on low
until meat is tender and vegs are cooked. Remove bay
leaf and adjust seasoning if necessary. Just before
servng, add peas and serve stew over biscuits. Baking
Powder Biscuits: Preheat oven 425 F.
Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt
into a bowl. Cut in shortening. Combine milk and eggs;
mix into flour with a fork until just moistened. Turn
dough onto a lightly floured surface; knead gently.
Roll to 3/4" thickness. Cut with a 2" figured cutter
and place on an ungreased baking tray. Bake 12 mins or
until golden.


KeyLime Pie
Ingredients:
1 3/4 c. sweetened condensed milk 4 egg yolks
6 Tbsp. Key lime juice
1 9" prepared graham cracker pie shell
1 1/2 cups heavy cream, whipped
1/4 tsp. vanilla
1 fresh lime, sliced



Directions:
Preheat oven to 250 degrees.
Combine milk and egg yolks in a blender or food processor on low speed. Slowly add lime juice, mixing until well blended. Pour into pie shell and bake 20 minutes. Let cool and refrigerate. Top with whipped cream and a slice of lime.

Yield: 1 9" pie

Suns up Breakfast Drink
Ingredients:
2.00 oz Mixed berry yogurt
2.00 oz Plain yogurt
4.00 Strawberries
1.00 Banana
2.00 ts Honey
4.00 oz Orange juice
2.00 Egg whites


Directions:
Place all ingredients in blender or food processer and mix until smooth. Pour into chilled goblet and serve immediately. From Chef Mickey's Village Restaurant at Disney Village Marketplace

Mickeys Meatloaf

2 pounds ground beef
1 pound ground pork
1 1/2 onions, diced
1/8 tsp garlic, granulated
2 cups bread crumbs, fresh
2/3 cup cold water
1/8 tsp thyme
1/4 cup parsley, chopped
1 whole egg
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1/8 tsp salt

Soak bread crumbs in cold water and set
aside. Saute diced onion until tender. Set
aside and allow to cool. Preheat oven to
350 degrees. In a large bowl, combine
ground beef, ground pork, onions, granulated
garlic, and bread crumbs mixed with water.
Mix well and add remaining ingredients. Mix
well and mold into loaves. form in either
loaf pans or a meat pan with sides high
enough to hold juices. Bake for 45
minutes to 1 hour.
Yield: 6 servings

I was just now sitting here reading the restaurnt board and drinking out of a Chef Mickey's Village Restaurant red plastic mug just like the one in the picture its one of my kids favorites and still looks good

LOL-- great minds think alike I guess ;)
 
I had an enormous and delicious rack of ribs here! I have never seen a rack of ribs that big in my entire life. We also used to enjoy eating at the Fireworks Factory back then. princess: pirate: :earboy2:
