A VWL ? For NY'ers

Is there any news as to when people from NY state will be able to purchase VWL over the phone?

New Yorkers will be able to make VWL purchases from home as soon as NY grants DVC permission to begin sales there.

DVC has been working on this for months. Each state seems to have it's own hoops to jump thru. Hopefully, NY will get it's act together soon. Good Luck!

She said that while they weren't sure exactly when it would occur, figured it would be within a couple of months. Also said they estimate VWL will sell out in early 2002.

She put my name on a list to get called when they get approval for NY sales. Maybe you'd like to do the same?

It Takes a long time for NY state to approve a New time share. DVC is Approved in NYS but not WLV. When we closed on or 3 contracts we got 2 hugh books the size of phone books just for the copy of the state approval.

You guys might want to look at the post regarding the downgrade of MB at VWL. I know I would not be happy to find out that I missed out on MB because DVC did not get NYS approval in time.

Does anyone know if a New Yorker who wants to buy at VWL will lose out on the MB program even if we have been assigned a sales rep and have stated that we want to purchase?

Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Hopefully I will be finding out today Pooh&Piglet. We called a month or two ago to buy at VWL and were told it wasn't approved for NY. We are going down on the 7th and were going to do the purchase then. If we can't sell back half the points at $10, I guess we will just bank them all for next year. It just doesn't seem worth it for $5 a point.

If MB is changed, as I was told by a DVC guide may be happening within a few months, why not just rent out half of your first year points for $10/point? True, you won't have the money immediately to help you with the downpayment, but you'll get twice the amount. Would make sense to even cash advance a credit card for a month or two to make $5/point extra, I would think.

As for taking advantage of MB as it currently works ($10/point), I would think that just because you have expressed interest doesn't mean you will be "grandfathered" in and get to take advantage of MB at that level if NY approval comes later. DVC should be able to tell you for sure, I would think, at least in a month or so

I would not hold out hope for the MB at the 10.00 rate. If VWL are selling this fast NY'ers may be in trouble.
We bought BWV BEFORE it was licensed in NY. We were on vacation in Disney and staying in the BWV's. We just loved it! We did the DVC tour and bought on the spot! This trip was in November. When we returned home we decided to add more points to the contract. We called the guide but could NOT purchase BWV from NY, so we added OKW which was licensed in NY. I don't know the exact date that BW began sales in Disney. If it was Januaury of 1996, then by Nov. 1996 and into Jan. of 1997 , it was NOT FOR SALE in NY!!!!!!!( Is it possible that it took a year????)
Good Luck to my fellow NY'ers, I hope you get your points! I would DEFINATELY contact my guide and voice my hope/concerns about getting the MB at the 10.00 rate. Disney sometimes can work some magic.
