Hi Everyone!
I am still reeling over our whirlwind trip to Epcot yesterday and just had to share! As a birthday surprise, I had arranged for my friend and I to fly down to Epcot for a VERY special birthday lunch at one of our favorite restaurants!
First thing in the morning we flew down from the Northeast and arrived at about 10:00 to MCO where we were greeted by Tiffany Town Car and whisked off to the Boardwalk. We walked in through the International Gateway and proceeded to activate our first time annual passes (yeah!) and were in the World Showcase for the rope drop at 11:00am.
Quickly ran over to Test Track for Fast Passes but they werenâÂÂt until 4:05-5:05 and we needed to get back to the airport (LOL!!) so we had to forego them. Standby wait was already an hour â it was very crowded there!
By the way, lots was being done in preparation for the Flower and Garden Show and it was very beautiful. The entrance to World Showcase was lined with topiaries â maybe they are permanent but I didnâÂÂt remember them there in December. They are adorable though!! Mary Poppins was transplanted from UK, Gepetto and Pinocchio, Bambi, Thumper and Flower, the Pooh Crew, Snow White and the Dwarfsâ¦I loved them and hope they stay there â very special!
Anyway, we decided to begin our âÂÂfast passâ to Epcot with a visit to Spaceship Earth. As an aside, I really donâÂÂt like the new Epcot logo on it â maybe IâÂÂm a purist at heart but it just seems too showy for Epcot â of course there was a crane next to it which didnâÂÂt add to the overall view at all!!
My friend works for AT&T so we went up to their lounge at Spaceship Earth for a cold drink (it was in the 80âÂÂs at least and absolutely beautiful there!) and then were escorted down to the ride. The very nice woman who works there had recognized us from December and was absolutely shocked to find out we were just in town for lunch!! Of course I think everyone we told was â as well as my friend who had no idea until we got on the plane that morning! LOL
After SE we traveled to Mexico for our 12:00pm PS at San Angel Inn. I just love this place! We had a great meal and a wonderful corner table on the water. My friend had Plato Mexicano which was a soft beef taco, chicken quesadilla and a beef and bean burrito. I had an excellent vegetarian plate which consisted of a black bean and veggie burrito, a cheese enchilada with a wonderfully spicy sauce and a black bean salad. Very good!
After lunch we made our way around the world, making a mini âÂÂbeer around the worldâ trip. Between us we tried the beer in Mexico, Norway, Morocco, France and the UK. Visited every country and all of our favorite shops and shows, as well as some new ones we had missed on previous trips. Grabbed dessert at the bakery in France and ate outside at the bistro tables. It was such a beautiful day and neither one of us could believe we were there!
At 4:30 or so we started back for the Boardwalk and met up with Tiffany who drove us back to the airport. Both flights (Delta) left on time â return got in early â and worked out great. I was back home by 9:00pm.
Everything worked out perfectly and it was one of the best afternoons ever! Especially knowing that IâÂÂll be back in June!!!
