Dh bought a beautiful pork roast this week. Not wanting to do the regular potatoes, carrots, etc we decided to go old school. I made homemade dumplings. I learned to make them from my grandmother. It's been way too long that I've made them. Boiled up some bavarian kraut. Made some gravy out of the pork drippings, open a beer to drink with dinner and voila a meal from my childhood. With every bite I could see my grandparents and my dad sitting down to this very same meal. It kind of brought a tear to my eye.
