A Very Lurkyloo Christmas is FINISHED! New 3/16: Last Day of the Trip!

:Throw in a lil' vow renewal at the gorgeous wedding chapel at Hotel Mira Costa, and it would be the ultimate trip report! :cutie:

I'll keep you posted... ;)

Thanks ;) I would looooooooove to read a TR of a wedding over there. Just looking at pictures takes my breath away; I can't imagine actually being there.

Ack! Ack! :scared: I'm freaking out!

I just saw on the restaurants board that they've extended the Wishes dessert parties at the Magic Kingdom, but the only nights they're holding them during our trip are all MVMCP nights.

I called up and reserved our spot at the one on the night we're going to MVMCP, but I'm not sure the DP is something I want to be doing during MVMCP when we're already paying $$$ to be doing other stuff there.

For one thing, if I'm going to be seeing Holiday Wishes for the first time, I want to be on Main Street, dead centered on the castle, not on Tomorrowland Terrace off to the side.

On the other hand.... DESSERTS!!! We could be getting $24/person's worth of desserts during Holiday Wishes...

Ack!

That is insane!!! :confused3:confused3 That makes absolutely no sense (of course it makes financial sense to them  Less people scarfing down free mediocre cookies and water logged hot chocolate ;)). How frustrating!

Totally! I'm now leaning toward NOT doing it, but passing up the chance just kills me. Why couldn't they have one on the MK's EMH nite the day before? I'd even move our Candlelight Processional package if I had to.

Also, here's my new idea - you always hear about people wandering around the paid parties with no wristbands on and irking those who did buy tickets. It seems like Disney only keeps you from riding rides and collecting treats if you don't have a wristband, but they don't throw you out. What if we reserved the DP for another MVMCP night when we didn't have tickets and just stayed in the park for the DP and then left?

Am I going to DIS hell just for thinking about this?! :teeth:

I had the same dilemma about the DP for our trip next week. When they announced they were extending it through October, I wanted to jump on it just to have the opportunity to do it. But $24/person x 5 people ain't cheap. That, and the only night it would really work for us is our MNSSHP night, and we're ALREADY paying to be at the party. So we decided to skip it this time around and hope that we'll have another chance next year.

ETA: About the wristbands.....they *may* check for wristbands when going into the DP. I'm such a dork about stuff like that, though. I'd be super paranoid. LOL

A not so new lurkyloo pre trippie...how did I miss it! Well i gained 10 lbs just reading through the first 10 pages:rotfl: and decide to skip to the end and there is a DIS HELL????? :lmao:

Damn....that sucks about the wishes DP...why on party nights...boo!
We are doing october!:cool1:

OK....off to catch up on the other 28 pages I missed :faint:

Thanks for the info! I'd prolly be all paranoid too...

I agree with you guys - you're already paying to be there, and then you have to pay even more to get dessert? I just don't get why they won't offer it on non-party nights.... >kicks ground dejectedly<

Hey, no, I don't think so... I mean I guess you risk the possibility of them suggesting that you "leave" if they spy you, but frankly then I would say we have DP tickets... Now, that means you have to be in the park and stay in the park for that, right? Meaning before the 7pm early park closing? Eh, why not? I would understand given the circumstances, and it isn't like they are going to grab you by the collar and chuck you out the gate, that would be SO unDisney... It isn't like you are trying to get something for nothing, you want to get something ELSE for nothing ;)

Hi! :wave2: Sorry about the virtual weight gain - perhaps you can virtually lose it all by reading someone's trip report about the marathon! :teeth:

You'll have to post pix of your Wishes DP here after October - I'd love to hear what you think of it! :hyper:

:rotfl2: Exactly!!! OK, I feel bad about my hypothetical idea already. I'm sure guilt would overcome me and I would break down and start shouting "FRAUD! Fraud! I am a fraud!! Look at this wrist - NO wristband! Clap me in irons, Mickey!!!"

Same here! Right now, we aren't scheduled to attend MVMCP, but we are scheduled to be at the MK EMH on 12/14. It would be nice if they opened it up for all days---but chances are if they did, it'd be sold out by the time I heard about it anyway. Ah well, gotta be happy with what you've got, I guess!

I know, I was scratching my head when I read that over on the restaurant board :confused3. I don't think I'd wanna give up party time to do the DP but it sure does seem like it would bring in some extra cash-ola on non-party nights.

Harrumph! I HATE being happy with what I've got!

:rotfl:

Let's keep each other posted on this - some people are saying the non-MVMCP nights do have the party but are sold out, which I hardly believe, since the news just hit the DIS today. I think they've been speaking to clueless CMs... still, maybe they'll release more nights!

Exactly! When will Disney start listening to YOU! :thumbsup2

So after some frantic text messages with Jensey (yes, this was the most exciting thing to happen to me all day), we've decided to keep the DP ressie for now but that DH and I will dash off to Main Street just before the show starts to view the fireworks from there (J. isn't a huge Wishes fan so she doesn't really care where she watches from). That way we'll have about 45 minutes of dessert-chowing time AND still see the fireworks from where we want to.

...Just don't tell me there won't be any good spots left on Main Street by then - la la la, I'm not listening!! :music:

Remember what happened to me... the dessert party extension was announced, and it was sold out hours after.

But also remember that several people on the dessert party thread called every day and managed to get their date through persistence.

I thought I'd call repeatedly, but I only called twice. I'm going to try the twenty-four hour cancellation/walk-up period instead of wasting long distance.

Just keep calling, and you'll get the date.

Of course you will be able to find a good spot.. just be "forceful" in your walking, and then plop yourself in the best spot you can find. :rolleyes1 As long as you don't trample a child, you're golden!

And the 24.95 worth of desserts have to be better than the complimentary Christmas cookies, right?

Just read about Wishes Party being extended and jsut got off the phone with Dining. Mine said the WP is *not* on MVMCP nights since the fireworks will not be going off. :confused3:confused3

However, the non MVMCP night that I wanted showed no availability. How's that for being confuzzled? :lmao:

ETA: About the wristbands.....they *may* check for wristbands when going into the DP. I'm such a dork about stuff like that, though. I'd be super paranoid. LOL

Yeah, I'd be worried about that too. I wonder if they don't care though? I would call and ask if that's possible (just like in the "old days" of MVMCP it wasn't common knowledge that they let you in without park admission around 4 p.m. and people would get all worked up discussing it on the DIS. Now, that it's common knowledge it seems like it's ok (not that I do that, only because I don't think I've spent a solid 8 hours at any WDW park in my life!). It may be a thing where they'd rather have you in the park spending money than not (but then if a clueless CM tells you it's ok and you're at the park and the CM says it's not ok...).

Oh, and don't worry about getting a good spot on Main Street. It's crowded but not too crowded where you can't find a good spot to watch Holiday Wishes (even at the last minute). We've never staked out spots before.

I think you got a clueless CM :). The regular fireworks won't be going off but "special" Holiday fireworks will. Maybe she was thinking about the regular ones? :confused3

I think so too, but at least, she was really nice. :goodvibes

I'm going to call back and see what happens. :thumbsup2

Carrie after I saw your post last night I immediatley got on the phone with dinig to book the DP for DF and I and I got the night we are doing MVMCP (17th) but I also found this out. They ARE only doing it on MVMCP nights and you have to check in with your confirmation or hotel information to get into the DP cause I asked how will they know I paid since there are no tickets. So, I don't think your plan would have worked. :confused3

I will tell you though DF and I are actually now thinking about cancelling it. This will be our very first one and we don't want to miss anything by being in the DP for an hour plus the added cost. :confused3 we are still thinking about it. I really tried for other nights but she said they either weren't doing it that night or they were booked. :headache:
