A Very Chit-Chat Thread

I have a blanket story for you all. When my sister married my BIL my nephew was around four years old. Ryan was very attached to his blanket. Being from a split home it was a true source of security for him, and moving away from my parents and I where I had been his major caregiver. Well BIL didn't like him having a blanket so he took it away from him while he was a sleep and threw it away. I to this day think that was one of the cruelest things I had ever seen.

My Dad used to take mine away and hide it. I would hate him for it for so long. I eventually found it every time, but to this day I am still mad at him for doing it. It is cruel. What's wrong with having a blanket?

:scared1: That's horrible!!! Nothing like scarring the child for life! My 24 yr old still has his baby blanket & sleeps with it. :goodvibes

I slept with mine until just a few years ago too. The only reason I don't now is cause it's really worn and I don't want to wreck it anymore than it is.

Well I just got into a bad accident...my car isn't totaled but the front and back are pretty smashed. It involved three cars and I happened to be in the middle. Ugh....

I'm having so much fun reading about all the halloween plans! :) I don't think we'll get to go this year if I get hired (which would be a VERY good thing ... so .... :rolleyes1 .... I guess I should say I hope we don't get to go. But I think all of you can relate to how that is not easy to say :grouphug:

And oh - I'm feeling pretty good, but DD7 got the brunt of it today. She had a fever, tylenol brought it down so she started bouncing around and picking fights with her siblings, so it's been a loooooooooong day :( My friend texted me to see if wanted to do a fiesta friday at the pool, I had to decline, ugh. Looking forward tomorrow though, DH and I are going to a wedding in the Napa (wine country) area :) And on Sunday we're running the wharf to wharf (Santa Cruz to Capitola 10K run). Good thing I managed to squeeze in 3 early runs this week, this mornings run was the first one where I didn't feel like I was gonna die :rotfl:

I'm pretty upset about losing it, as those were the blankets we got for the twins when they were still in the NICU.....so it was like losing a piece of her past. :sad1: Getting choked up just writing that.....

This is gonna be a long one.....

Yeah I am fine....It just sucks because this is not the first time something like this has happened to me. I have been involved in 5 accidents, 2 of which totaled the car. And none were my fault. Well, in one instance I let my friend borrow my car and he totaled it. So it was kinda my fault but I didn’t directly cause the accident. So I don’t know.

Anyways, here is what happened…. There were two like air conditioning utility vans in front of me. The first one turned, and the 2nd one stopped waiting for traffic to pass so he could also turn. Well I saw him because I was paying attention and I stopped. Then there was a lady in a minivan behind me, who did not see us both stop, and she proceeded to hit me, which caused me to be pushed into the van in front. So I got the most damage, front and back. And the lady just appeared clueless the whole time. We were kinda blocking the lane, and didn’t wanna move until the cops got there. And people behind the lady were honking, not being able to see what was going on. She didn’t have her hazard lights on or anything! I told her “maybe you should turn on your emergency flashing lights so people know whats going on” and she had to search her vehicle for the button to turn on the lights. And she never apologized! Only said like “oh I didn’t see…” um yeah obviously. She didn’t even get out of her car to talk with me and the other guy who was driving the air conditioning van. The guy was from another town and didn’t know any local number so I called the cops and everything. I mean, I know it doesn’t do any good to just get out of the car and stand around, but it at least shows you care about what just happened. I guess the air condition guy was having a rough week too. The van he was driving was rented from another guy in the company because he blew out the engine in his van. And the van he was following was his boss! He barely got any damage so I am sure he will be okay. As for the lady…well I know nothing about her expect that, after the police spoke to her, he found out she was (in his own words) “messing around in the mirror” and that’s why she didn’t see us stop.

It’s just that this couldn’t have come at a more inconvenient time. I was supposed to take my car to DLR next Sunday, but it looks like we’re gonna have to get a rental because my friend’s car isn’t that reliable. And my parents just left for the weekend to Pismo beach, which was a thank you present my sister and brother in law got them for helping out so much with the wedding. And I really do not wanna ruin their relaxing weekend by telling them what happened. So me and my sister dealt with it, talked to insurance, got the car towed to the body shop, all that stuff. So it’s taken care of really. By telling them what happened will only stress them out. They might initially be upset that we didn’t tell them, but really there is nothing they could do about it. I will wait until Sunday afternoon to stress them out haha. We have to pay a $500 deductible, and that will get reimbursed to us after the insurance claim goes through and it’s proven that it indeed was the other lady’s fault and her insurance will pay us back.

The only thing that is stressing me out is how it's gonna make my parents feel. I am ok, I know it wasn't my fault, I know we don't have to pay for damages, I know it's all taken care of. I hate putting them through this, because I know how they react with these situations. My dad will initially freak out, my mom will be more understanding at least. Then in an hour or so, my dad will calm down and start trying to help me out. I think I might be at work when they get home Sunday, So i already have it planned that I am gonna write a note, address it to my mom only! Explain what happened, and hopefully, when I get home an hour or so later, they will have time to calm down and process it. i know they are gonna call my sister and speak to her about it first though, so I feel bad for her for having to deal with my dad!

This has not been my finest week, that's for sure. :sad2:

Oh man Jillian! That totally bites! I'm glad you are okay but you will probably still feel it tomorrow. You might want to try and take a hot bath if you can or a shower as your muscles are likely to get pretty sore! Also make sure you have some Ibuprofen or Tylenol on hand. The effects usually take a few hours to hit but then can be pretty painful!

Did the police ticket the gal behind you?? You're really lucky if you didn't get one.....I can't tell you how many times I've heard of the middle car getting ticketed as well because they didn't leave enough space between them & the car in front of them at the stop.

I'm so glad you're ok, but tomorrow will probably be a rough one......never hesitate to get checked out & add that to her insurance bill. Her insurance will call you immediately & try to settle quick & cheap.....don't do it! Wait to make sure you're medical ok & you know exactly what the damages will cost. They can get really pushy, but just say, stop pushing me or I'll let my attorney talk to you....that usually shuts them up!!!!

She probably did get ticketed, or will. My sister was in a situation like that lady, and she did get ticketed. Not at the scene but I guess she recived it later? :confused3
I really hope I am not getting ticketed. The police told me about leaving space etc, which in fact I felt like I had left enough space but oh well. I guess he would have told me right then and there the possibility of me getting a ticket, but he didn't.
We were not going fast at all, no air bags or anything, so I am sure I will feel fine tomorrow. The one accident I was in where the airbags did deploy...I really felt that one!

Oh man, oh man, oh man. I am so sorry this all happened Jillian. But I'm glad that you're OK but definitely think you should try and get checked out just to be on the safe side. You can't be too careful. But man, can I just say you're a heck of a lot more responsible than me. I would be freaking out without someone by my side to deal with all the other stuff. I know, some adult I make, right? It's just hard with my anxiety levels and I porbably would have been the evil daughter calling the parents despite the weekend away. Eh, who knows, I am an adult after all.

I was really mad at my sister too because she didn't stand up to the bully. I let my kids keep theirs as long as they wanted them.

Back from work. It figures that after an awesome day yesterday today was just lame. Someone took my food, someone misplaced my equipment and I have no idea where it is and 100% need it tomorrow night, I could go on but I'll spare you all the details. Sigh. But I have a plan to make it as OK as it;s going to be under the circumstances

Hehe. Us. :grouphug:

I hope that is all resolves itself Jessica.

Why are men so mean sometimes? Jerks.......

Oh Jillian. That sucks. I read the other post and didn't quote it. I am glad you didn't get hurt.

Ooh have fun at the wedding! And kick but at the 10k!!

Well, I finally went and saw Harry Potter today and I am quite possibly going again tomorrow to take Loren's best friend. I will bring tissues tomorrow.:sad1:

I cried just as much wehn I saw it again the other day. I think I want to go see it again tomorrow morning.

Oh Jillian, I am so sorry to hear about your accident. I am glad you weren't seriously hurt, but I would take their advice and get checked out! Or at least take Paula's advice and have a warm bath and some tylenol! Such bad timing! Hope it's not going to cost you extra to rent the car!

It will be an extra expense for the rental but I guess it's not that big of a deal. I was actually just getting super comfortable with driving again (after my 2008 accident) and then this happens :sad2: I hate being a nervous driver, so hopefully I can get over it quicker this time.
All the bad stuff happening to me this week better mean that my Disney trip is gonna be flawless

Not looking forward to walking to work in the morning...it's only about a 15-20 min walk depending on how fast I go, and I have done it before. But at 6:30 am it's not my favorite thing to do. And Sunday I open, at 5:30am! So I need to figure out what I am gonna do then. The girl I open with isn't the nicest person and she is probably my least favorite person at work, so I don't wanna ask her for a ride. I bet if I did ask her she would tell me that she was planning on taking her motorcycle to work that day anyways...
Eh, we'll see.

Oh that's too bad it will cost extra for the rental. Sometimes they are covered under insurance in situations like this. At least they are here.

Walking to work that early doesn't sound fun. It's probably still pretty dark at that time hey? Actually here the sun has been rising at about 5am, so maybe you'll be ok?

I hadn't thought about that. You need to be careful Jillian.

Our insurance has rental car. They were so great 5 years ago when we had our accident. I took it is to them, and they had the car rental place come get me with my rental car. Easy peasy.

Great minds think alike.

About the rental....I don't know all the details, something about it covering $30 a day or whatnot. I haven't looked much into it yet. And in all honesty I am not even comfortable driving a rental after being in an accident. Especially not all the way to So Cal. My friend has a family friend who worked at a car place for a while and has been able to get her some great deals on rentals, so if she ends up renting the car, she will be the primary driver for the trip and I think i would feel much more comfortable that way.
