I have to admit that part of the very reason we love WDW is the very bubble we all talk about, but...
With all the masks and restrictions and park reservations with no guarantees and no park hopping, etc. going on, we are, for the very first time since being DVC owners; considering venturing over to the forbidden areas during our early August trip.
Don't get me wrong, we would much rather be at WDW parks, but given the newness of the re-opening there at that moment in time and all the restrictions we already know about going in, I'm really starting to believe that Universal and Seaworld may very well be ahead of the curve (pun intended) by the time we get down there and may have loosened some of their original re-opening parameters.
Before somebody insists that going down the rabbit hole is the only thing to do because they have a personal responsibility to mankind to put their two cents worth in, this post is not about the masks. That has been argued ad-nausea on this very board, so there's no need to re-hash it here, but I am firmly in the camp of not wearing one. Anywhere. Anytime. Unless it is my own decision, so let's just take that at face value. If you can't do that, please argue it somewhere else. This thread is not the place for it. Thank you in advance for that.
I know under normal circumstances, many here do venture outside home base while staying DVC. We will have a car, and outside the monorail, we don't use Disney transportation anyway. We usually drive over to Celebration and eat at the Tavern every couple of trips, and mostly venture outside property to eat anyway outside one or possibly two table service meals on a very special occasion trip. What I'm saying is that transportation isn't a problem. I'm very comfortable driving the greater Orlando/Kissimmee area and know it fairly well. I'm even familiar with the back way into Universal from property. I have Sunpass.
Universal has already announced lifting blackouts for AP holders, probably due to smaller returning crowds than may have been expected, and I'm guessing there may be some ticket incentives for the near-term to get people over there. Seaworld may very well find itself in the same boat. It may be a good time to venture out. Our DD, now 15, has never seen the FL parks outside WDW. Maybe it's time. She loves thrill rides and roller coasters. Who knows what it may look like in August, but right now at least, Universal is mostly a barren wasteland and ripe for the picking if it's ever going to be.
What has been your experience? How much of a pain is it? Any tips? Advice?
We haven't decided yet. That's the good news. We really don't have to yet. What we are doing is considering possibilities because they have presented themselves to us.
