A vent and request for updates for headliners rides reopening this week...

Our last trip (May/June of last year) Matterhorn was still under refurbishment, and not only did Space Mtn close down for a short while (right as we were heading into the line, figures!) but BTMRR was down pretty much every time we passed it over our 6 days at the parks. I was disappointed every time we'd approach and it was down. My son (6 at the time) got a huge kick out of the stories the CM's would tell us as their explanation for Big thunder being closed...his favorite was that the goat with the dynamite got loose on the tracks and was running amok! By the end of the week, there had been so much other magic that we didn't even think about the fact we never rode a single coaster (unless you count Goofy's Sky School, haha). I am sending you good vibes :goodvibes for lots of Disney magic pixiedust: that the rides you are looking forward to reopen by then, but I imagine you will have an amazing time regardless!

CMs are holding a paper airplane competition at the Soarin' entrance. Send it far for FP prize.

(((((((HUGS)))))))))

No matter what attractions are up and running while you are there, I just KNOW you are going to have a magical trip. I know it! There is SOOOO MUCH magic at both parks, your son will love, love, love it!!

Please post when you return and let us know how it all went. I will be thinking of you and your family!:thumbsup2

I have a client there NOW and I will text her later and find out if they are opened today. I think Disney will do their best to get the rides up and running as quickly as possible b/c I can imagine the amount of ticked off ppl which I understand! When you save up a lot of times a yr or more that's very disappointing! My client actually flew from Hawaii with her grandkids who have never been!

Id be so grateful if anyone could report back today and let us know if the rides are open today?!

We were at DL yesterday. Everything was running except for Space Mountain and BTMRR(refurb). At 10 am the CM told me that they thought Space Mountain would be open today. We are headed to DCA today. I'll try to post an update.

On the news today they talked about the closures, and Disneyland said they were not sure when they were going to open Space Mountain or Soarin. At least that's what all the news reports were saying (it was on every news channel)

Op here, you guys are just the best friends a person could ask for! :woohoo:

All of your encouragement has boosted my feelings this morning about the whole situation.

After all, we are going to Disneyland :cool1:, not going to work and school this week!

Thank you for all of the newest ride opening info this morning ( Monday ), I keep checking the boards to see if anything has changed.

Really, I can't wait to keep checking for any added info on unexpected ride openings. I have to go to work and so will be checking again late this evening.

I am eternally hopeful that Space and Soaring will at least open up for a few hours some time during our vacation :scratchin

I thought that I read that MB was down for testing this week (weekdays) anyway? Did DL decide to open it to help take away the disappointment over the other rides being closed?

If MB and SOC are open, did someone post that soaring was open yet????, we could get by without Space MTN I guess :worried: .

Thanks again!:grouphug:

i agree - you WILL have a great time! we went with our 4 & 6 year old two years ago. we didn't do ANY of the "thrill" rides - the most thrilling thing we did was POTC. we had a FANTASTIC three days. just trying rides for the first time was so exciting for my kids. seeing random characters here and there. fireworks, world of color, playing on the island in DL, parades, getting treats in the middle of the day, trading a pin here and there....ALL of it was amazing for my kids. i do understand your disappointment (we are going in a month and i hope these rides are back online so we can try them this time) BUT if not, i know how exciting it is to just be there. ENJOY - i promise you will!

another board supposedly reporting what Disney said:

On Sunday, Disney reopened the Matterhorn Bobsleds, but both Space Mountain and Soarin' Over California remain closed (with no estimated time of reopening) while Disney evaluates the situation. In the meantime, Disney has postponed this week's originally scheduled closure of the Matterhorn Bobsleds (from April 16 to 19) while two of the resort's major attractions are closed.

Thanks for this. :thumbsup2 Was considering dropping by DLR today but wasn't going to if there were still a bunch of rides down (i.e. angry crowds/other rides getting crowded).

As of this morning, it appears only Space is still closed.

Mousewait has Space, Splash, Innoventions, Snow White, Goofy's Sky School and Soarin all reported as currently Closed.

They also show RSR closed but that happens frequently anyway... ;)

Not sure if any of these are related to the current issues or not - will be good to hear from feet on the ground in the park!

Interesting, as I also used Mousewait to look just before 10am. Curious if DOSH showed up to inspect and they took them down for the inspection period.

BTW - I didn't recheck Splash this morning, I assumed it was still up from the weekend, which is why I suspect DOSH came in to look and they would rather have the rides down during inspection.

I doubt CAL/OSHA will inspect again until all the rides are ready to be inspected. If anything, I would think that it was the Disney people who were still doing inspections/reviews.

I'm glad you are feeling more positive about your trip. Really, I think you will have a great time, even if Space is still closed! That one can be a little scary anyway... My 5 year old DD was nervous, but she said she liked it, but DS-6 said he did NOT want to go on it again (until he was "really big.") Just a little much for him. There is SO much to see and do, and it will be magical even if some of those rides are still down. Plan to have a wonderful vacation, and keep track of what's open through MouseWait and such if you can! It will be a great vacation!
