A Veggie and a Meat Lover vs Dlx Dining, June 8-18, Closing Thoughts 11/12

Great reviews so far! We're eating at the same places on our upcoming honeymoon too...I saw that you had the bride ears...did you have any luck in getting your DH to wear the groom ears? If so, whats your trick? :rotfl:

ps. super cute dress at CRT!!

I loved your dress too -- really adorable! :lovestruc DH and I loved CRT when we went during our first visit. Of course the menu is different now ... [and no characters at dinner then] but we had a wonderful time there!

You and DH make a cute couple and I can't wait to hear and see more of your food adventures. :thumbsup2

Great reviews of CP & CRT :thumbsup2
Love your dress by the way :goodvibes
Thanks! I looove that dress.....it was a good excuse to wear it and fun to run around MK in.
That asparagus at Artist Point looks delicious!! We have a close-up picture of the asparagus we had at Le Cellier on our honeymoon in our honeymoon scrapbook because I thought it was the best I had ever had - I think Artist Point might top it.

Cute dress in the CRT pics! My DH and I are starting a tradition this year for our 1st anniversary of saying our vows to each other every year at interesting places and making a scrapbook of our adventures. This year, we're going back to Disney and I thought about wearing a little white dress in the parks for the pic of our stealth vow renewal, but I was worried about wearing all white in the parks as I thought I would surely get it dirty. Looks like you did it with ease! I think I will have to try it :goodvibes
It was amazing. I love that you have some in your honeymoon scrapbook! that is so something I would do. I really want the recipe but have yet to find it.

Thank you! I love the idea of saying your vows every year. thats really sweet. I will say that I was more worried they would count it has a wedding dress but there was someone else at CRT wearing a short white dress and hers was way more wedding than mine. It didn't get dirty, maybe *** its short. I even sat on a bag and watched the parade in it and nothing happened to it. It was fun though wearing it around.
First off..Congratulations! :wizard:I am enjoying reading your awesome reviews! I still have not dined at CRT, and after reading your review, I really need to go on one of our next trips! I can't wait to read more! :goodvibes
thanks! I def think its a must do. I had heard terrible things but I loved it and had a lot of fun.
Great reviews so far. Congratulations on your wedding :)
Thanks!

I got him to wear them for like 3 hours one day. So yeah.....not much luck. He was very against them and made a thing about them. He wore them to one breakfast and then got a picture in front of the castle (of course they were the only ones we didn't like!!!) and then he took them off. Good luck getting your DF to wear them!

Thanks!

Thanks so much. I was actually looking forward to the original way it was but they changed it like 3 months before we went. don't really know why.

I have always wanted to go to CRT, but have also been hesitant. I'm glad you had a good time! Your DH's Lavender Chicken looks amazing....I'm going to have to try that now!

And I agree...I love the dress :goodvibes

I think its something you have to do at least one time in your life. You should def try it if you get a chance.

Thanks hun!

Great reviews so far, and congratulations on the wedding, you look like a lovely couple.

Day 3 Part 1

So this morning we were up very early for breakfast at Whispering Canyon. We arrived at around 7:20 and realized that we they didn't open until 7:30 so we had to wait a bit to be seated but we were one of the first to be seated. So first we were asked for our drink order.
IMG_2984.jpg

I got the Mega-berry smoothie and a coffe
IMG_2985.jpg

and DH got the flavor of the day which was mango. and he got 2 because you get two drinks with breakfast on the Dlx plan.
IMG_2988.jpg

Our waiter didn't offer to bring out the chef but he was very nice and said anything I wanted they would be able to work out.

DH got the Our Famous Canyon Skillet All-You-Care-To-Enjoy - Scrambled eggs, Red Bliss potatoes with sauteed onions, bacon and sausage, buttermilkbiscuits, sausage gravy and waffles.
IMG_2993.jpg

DH was disappointed with this because a skillet is usually all mixed together with cheese on top.....and I guess he didn't pay attention and just thought of skillets that we usually get. So this was very much like the breakfast buffets stuff you get everywhere. So he wasn't really into it. I think he was more into the smoothie

I had BBQ Eggs Benedict - Poached eggs on a english muffin with beef brisket and BBQ Hollandaise sauce served with red bliss potatoes and sauteed onions. without the meat.
IMG_2992.jpg

it was AWESOME! I can't even explain how good this was. I am a huge fan of eggs benedict and love trying to new types. I would highly recommend it and your not missing anything by taking out the meat.

2 Credits

I would def go back and I think so would DH he just has to order something different and I think he will be happy. Plus I def want to try the Benedict again!

Just wanted to let you know I am here and enjoying your dining report also!!!

ooohhh yay. I am trying to get back on the vegetarian bandwagon. (I was one for 7 years, but my ex was a total fast food junkie and it became impossible.) I doubt this trip will make it easy, but seeing yummy veggie choices will help. Thanks.

One question though. When we went for our honeymoon no one seemed to care or notice. I have seen that everyone gets such amazing service with their celebrations. We are going to CRT the first night and didn't realize you could get wands and such. Did you make a special point at each place to let them know you were celebrating? Sorry for being nosy, but we both love disney and last trip was rough. I want DH to LOVE this one.

I can't wait for more updates! I think you ate at some of the places we will be so you have 1 month to finish before I get to Disney to try them myself.

Most places are pretty good at accommodating veggies. Best thing to do if you want to make sure your safe is fill out a dietary request form. (the info is on my first post on this thread) That will usually ensure they are prepared for you.

It might have been because we had everything booked for us through CL. but then downgraded at the last min. so I never actually booked anything by myself. but I have heard if you tell them they will do stuff when you book your ADRs. Pins are a good way as well to get noticed. Our honeymoon was noted on all our receipts that print out to take you to your table. We didn't ask for the wand it was brought to me...but I asked for the sword because I thought it was unfair that I got to have fun and DH didn't!

Thanks! I will keep that in mind. I doubt I will drag this on longer than a month hahaha.

Your breakfast pictures look so tasty (doesn't help that it is breakfast time right now, and I have none of that available to me :rotfl:). If your DH was expecting a skillet, that is definitely way different than what he got! I knew that Whispering Canyon served that breakfast, but I didn't realize they called it a skillet....kinda misleading!

I would LOVE that breakfast right now. Yum yum.

I know right? He really should have read what was in it and realized that waffles wouldn't be mixed into a skillet.....but still!

Day 3 Part 2

We had an ADR at 2:00 at Coral Reef and we were also meeting up with another disbride (Weedee) and her husband who were also on their honeymoon. We got there a little early but had to wait til the rest of our party was there. We got a pager when everyone was there but were too busy chatting to notice it going off in my hand and the CM was trying to get our attention...for a while:rotfl:

we were seated at the farthest table from the tank :sad2: I would have said something (come ON we are both on our honeymoon! can't we at least see some fishes!?!?!) but we were with other people and I didn't want to make a thing about it. so we were seated (its so dark in the restaurant!) in a large booth at the back. Our waiter came by quick enough, noting that me and DH were on a dining plan and also someone had an "allergy". Now I just go with the allergy notion because......its the way Disney seem to note it. So I said yes I can't eat any type of meat or cooked with anything with meat or mushrooms. Wendy was more honest and said she doesn't eat meat because she doesn't want to.

Because we were on the dining plan we got way too much food and looked like fatties compared to Wendy and her DH. (I did not take pictures of their food tho! or remember what they ate...)

I got a pina colada
IMG_3017.jpg

DH a strawberry daiquiri
IMG_3016.jpg
]

both were virgins and yummy! (and free!)

Now I will blame this on Wendy....I did not take any pictures of apps because we were talking to much! so sorry! but I was having too much fun to remember!

DH had Steamed Mussels - With cilantro Sofrito, fennel, tomatoes, and toasted ciabatta
which he loved. I don't think DH ever has had mussels he hated. though he said these were the best he had at Disney. (should be.....its a fish restaurant!)

I was stuck with a salad (again) Salad of Golden and Red Beets - With fresh Goat Cheese, Garden Greens, toasted walnuts, and Herb Vinaigrette
Okay now....yes after all the crap we ate over this trip it was great to have a salad and feel a little healthier. Not many of the restaurants have other options.....its salad or salad. I thought I could have the soup but it had some stock or pieces of meat that I couldn't eat. SIGH.....rant over

So for the main DH shocked me by getting Wild Mushroom Lasagna - roasted wild mushrooms, wilted Arugula and spinach, fontina, parmesan, mascarpone, and ricotta cheese, rustic tomato ragout
IMG_3018.jpg

which I have to say looks great! (Wendy got the same I believe...) DH loved it and was very happy. I would have loved this but it had mushrooms in it.....so no go.

I got mixed veggie with a tomato type of sauce and cheese
IMG_3019.jpg

While this was very good and one of the better ones. This does get very old if your at disney for more then 4 days....I started to get very sick of veggies with red sauce and started asking if that was my only option and what else could I try. (which you'll see how I did later) But this was very good and they were very nice and accommodating. The veggies were cooked perfectly and it had a nice flavor.

for dessert I had to try the classic The Chocolate Wave* - served with raspberries This is a dessert I had been waiting for. and it did not disappoint! yum yum.
IMG_3020.jpg

DH went with the Baileys and Jack Daniel's Mousse - Topped with a ganache and chocolate cigar which was also very good! DH ate everything bit and even ate my chocolate best wishes
IMG_3022.jpg

IMG_3023-1.jpg

Now one thing I will say I was very clear when making the reservation that both of us were on our honeymoon......but me and DH were the only ones who got best wishes or special treatment. :confused3 which I felt made me look like I forgot to mention they were on their honeymoon as well.....which I didn't! so that bothered me. Also as I said I wish they thought....2 honeymoons...lets put them by the tank! but no. I would go back again...I have heard very bad things about the food but didn't experience it. I think I will put this on our list for places to go on our one year anny. (if I say it enough maybe it will become def that we are going!!!)

2 credits.

Ahhh so many reviews to catch up on!! And they're all terrific!!! Ok, sooo loved your CP review!! We didn't make our ressie this past trip, and have an ADR for before the park opens in November...CAN'T WAIT!! The food looks so good! Sorry about those evil potatoes though, STINKY! But yummm on the pooh's french toast.

Lovvved your CRT review as well. We're eating there for DH's actual birthday dinner in November, and it's great so see a review from a couple with no kids. That chocolate buckle is calling my name!

I love that you had a Disneymooning Dis-meet on your trip!!! That's so cute!! And you guys ate together!!! love it!! That's one great thing about the Disboards, you can make some great friends on here. :goodvibes:goodvibes

Can't wait to read more!

Hi! I saw the link to your dining review in your wedding pj, so I thought I would check it out. I am semi vegetarian and very picky, so I love reading about what other vegetarians eat. That asparagus looks to die for, as do the veggies at Coral Reef. I have never gone to coral reef because I didn't think that there was anything I would eat, but you have given me hope! I look forward to reading the rest of your report!
