A Two Short, Too Different Spring Break Trip (Time to Say Goodbye)

So when we come to eat dinner with you guys, we can expect to see lots of homegrown goodness on the table? :thumbsup2

What time is dinner, by the way?

Food for thought: Why do we call the midday meal lunch Monday through Saturday, but on Sunday the same meal is called dinner. We always say, "Come on over for Sunday dinner!"

Is that a Southern thing? Do Northerners call Sunday dinner, "Sunday dinner?"

Yes to the homegrown goodness. We had squash on Sunday with our meatloaf and mashed potatoes, and today I have been overindulging in blueberry muffins that I baked last night. Yum, yum!

Dinner Monday through Saturday is at 6:00, and on Sunday around 1:00. ;)

AKL has an awesome gift shop, too. Did you buy any of the animal or mask carvings?

You shall see...:rolleyes1

Have I ever told you about how much I hate the speed and bumpiness of Big Thunder? I always close my eyes and hang on for dear life -- I don't know what the ride even looks like once the train leaves the station, and I have been riding it since the early 1980's.:laughing:

We missed BTMRR this trip, and I'm sure Hannah would have loved it! Goofy is cute dressed up for frontier life! We did see him while we were on Splash Mt. though...Hannah was like, "look mom, who's that?"

Big Thunder Mountain. We had gotten Fastpasses, and it was almost time.

woohoo!!!! the wildest ride in the wilderness!!!!! thanks for taking me on the ride with you. i needed a dose of wild today.

i think i'm gonna have to go online and see if that dog drool soap is availabe to buy.

:sad1:

just out of curiosity, do you have to be a kid to do this tour? how about if you're 32-almost-33 years old? and does wendy HAVE to be involved? :lmao:

The tour is so much fun. All the parents are as involved as the kids. The tour guide told us in the beginning that the tour was going to be of the trash cans of the MK but it had to be changed because Peter has stolen Hook's hook and he is po'd. He will let all the villians loose into the MK and get Mickey if it isnt returned so you have to follow this map around the MK to find where Peter hide the hook. But you do all sorts of things as you "walk" through the park. duck walk, walk backwards, crab races, fly, etc plus you get a lot of hidden mickey info and ride some rides. You end up in a private place behind the christmas shop and peter and wendy are there (i have heard of other characters like cindy being there instead) your find the hook then play with peter and wendy before you go on a ride with them. We went about 5 yrs ago now and it is stil one of the best memories I have in over 100 trips.

I call the midday meal lunch 7 days a week. But, my hubby calls the midday meal on Sunday "dinner". We are both born and raised in the North, so figure that one out! :rolleyes1

Avery loved BTMR! That and Soarin were her favorites. Meant to get her a pin-next time! Great pics!

ooooh I loveeee BTMRR too! I really like the one picture you have with the view of the castle. :lovestruc

Those soaps are in Epcot too! I just saw them on someone else's TR LOL I wonder what they smell like?

I didn't even try to smell them. I was afraid!

He sure was a cutie back then....he was about 5yrs old in that pic. Wow, that's 10 yrs ago, how time flies. He would tower over that tree now:)

When he was younger he loved to go on adventures and he would get so excitted at the littlest things in life. He was so happy to see how the peaches grew, I can remember he called my DMom right when we got home and said "Gramma, I saw peaches and ducks". He was more amused with chasing the 'guard ducks' around the property.
It was something new to me too and I was surprized that the trees were so small.
I have seen orange trees in FL. and you need a ladder to pick them. We picked grapefruit once and we needed these poles with a metal grabber thing on the end. That was fun until they told my Dad there might be snakes....we were outta there.

I love the pics of BTMR! It's a ride we all like!

I've never seen that Goofy, very neat.

I think I've filled my water bottle at those fountains before. :thumbsup2

Wouldn't it be nice if we could keep the mentality of a five year old in enjoying the simple things in life?

When I lived in St. Pete, we had two orange trees in the backyard. We had freshly squeezed orange juice all the time, and we gave away oranges to everyone who came to visit. Everybody left our house with oranges!

Isn't it fun to look at other people's pictures and think of yourself right in that same spot? When CP showed her AKL view, I just pictured Brooklynn wading in the first few feet of the zero entry part of the pool. I saw a picture someone had at the bowling pin pool at Pop, and they were sitting at the table we had sat at just about every time, since it was closest to our room. In my head, I just thought, "Hey, that's our table!"

BTMRR..........it's the wildest ride in the weeeeerlderness and also Baylor's favorite ride!

One of my favorite, too. Not too wild and not too mild - just right.

I love squash casserole! How do you fix your squash? What about zucchini? Do you do those?

I shall wait, and I'm guessing that means yes!

Do you do Everest? I think BTM is child's play compared to EE.

We missed BTMRR this trip, and I'm sure Hannah would have loved it! Goofy is cute dressed up for frontier life! We did see him while we were on Splash Mt. though...Hannah was like, "look mom, who's that?"

I can't wait to see loads of Hannah and Owen pictures having fun at Disney World!

It's cool to see the characters dressed up in all of the different costumes. That was the first time I had ever gotten Goofy's picture in that outfit, I think. If I had it before, I don't remember it.

Why? Was your day dull? I can't imagine Dawn have a dull day ever!

You can let us know what it smells like, then.

We'll have to check into this. It sounds like a lot of fun, and I'm sure it would be a great memory.

It's a mystery! :)

What an awesome DISmeet! And memom it's so great to see you in the picture too!!

Congrats on getting to stay at Wilderness Lodge for 2 nights. Can't wait to see all the pictures from that!!!

The meet was fun, and I look forward to more in the future, hopefully with many more people on this report.

There will be tons of pictures. I am already preparing for that with extra batteries and memory cards. ;)

Avery loved BTMR! That and Soarin were her favorites. Meant to get her a pin-next time! Great pics!

Two of my favorite! Good girl, Avery!
If you want, I can send your girls a postcard from Mickey (or whoever) saying how much they enjoyed having them visit. Just PM and let me know.

Good Morning MeeMee! I'm almost finished my report!

Love the Thunder Mountain Pics! I didnt notice MOST of the props you posted!

Hi there everyone
wow I think our plans just changed and got 3x better! We have to go to Tampa in July for a PTA conference so I just made ressies for after ( 7/19 & 20) at the Dolphin. With my teacher discount it came to about $45/night more than Music or POP would have. Yea! an extra wdw trip. Plus my mom and dad may go for a weekend in oct with us to meet family from Tenn visiting. (they are staying at bay lake towers so we may get a look at it :) ) So right now I am stillplanning a quick day trip with DD only either july 30 or 31 so i may still run into Memom and the gang. who knows. So 2 extra unplanned WDW trips just popped up!

Did anybody ever tell you you were silly?

You've gotta slow down on all that running from big ride to big ride and doing all that fine dining so you can see all those little things along the way! :) See, while you're in Boma or somewhere awesome, I'm out there taking pictures of trashcans! :upsidedow

Sometimes I just steam the squash and zucchini and sometimes I make them into a casserole with cheese added.

I do, but I keep my eyes closed on that one, too.

Squash with cheese and a little bit of mushroom soup, then covered in a Ritz Cracker and butter topping - good stuff! Zucchini is good layered in a meat and sauce like you'd do a lasagna, too. Yummo!

See, you eat them plainer, so you're skinny.
I eat them covered in other things, and you see the result!

I've ridden Everest once, and although I will probably someday ride it again, I am in no hurry.

BTMR is so much fun! :thumbsup2 And another great shot of a water wheel! :cool1:

That is such a peaceful resort, and the water wheel just looks cool in pictures. I have not stayed there, but Jill and John have.

Just let us know. The 30th is our Four Parks day, so we'll be on the run. We'll give you our schedule, and hopefully we can meet. Where will you be if you go on the 31st?

Great BTMRR pictures MeMom! I have fond memories of the ride. It's the first coaster I had ever been on and the first for my children as well. I screamed louder than any of them however! Like a little school girl high pitched screech. It was awesome! :)

More shopping in Frontierland.

Something big sisters might want to put outside their doors for little brothers.
Or vice-versa.

Eeyore was happy to be a part of the trip again.

It seems the residents of Frontierland were in an uproar about a haven of sin that was going to be opening soon.

disney3-18-09MK144.jpg

Bird dislikers can be dismissed for a moment while I show a duck.

disney3-18-09MK145.jpg

Now on to...

more birds!

But not real ones.
Are unreal ones okay to show?

Ok so since I posted the picture of the human capsule, I guess it's only fair that you posted the duck picture. So I forgive you. We're even.

Torture.... to have to go back and find out the surprise and catch up on all the pics. I must admit to having a tear or two as I thought to myself I just saw that!

Yea for the WL.... love that place! I am sure that will make the blues of the trip winding down less knowing that is where you will end. BTW split stays are an adventure... especially if you don't plan them!
