That's great that you got to see your girls, even for a few minutes! What an awesome surprise.
I hope your students did well with their testing. I hate the whole idea of standardized testing. Last year, for my english class, my argument and research papers were about the MCAS testing (Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System) that we have here -- students have to take it starting in 4th grade, I think, and in 2003, it became mandatory that high school students pass it in order to graduate. They give a lot of chances to pass, sure, but it bothers me that graduating on time basically rides on one test, that teachers now have to teach TO the test, and that students are being assessed by how well they do on that one test.

I'm not even a teacher or a parent and it bothers me!
With that said, I'm going to be better at keeping up and commenting -- I'm coming up on the last few weeks of school! Then I'm going out to Ohio (and maybe -- still up in the air b/c I'm not the one driving the whole time and I'm not sure where we'll be stopping along the way) -- meeting
DisKate! Even if I don't then, we've been tossing around the idea of meeting up at some point and I'm wicked excited about the idea. I'm excited for the whole summer. Just working and not doing schoolwork around it is going to be awesome.
Me too! I do not handle that kind of thing very well at all. Animal movies make me cry, and if there's ever a dog in any movie, I always have to make sure that nothing ever happens to it. I read "Marley and Me" and I cried so hard at the end, and at some other parts in it. I won't see the movie, though, because that will absolutely kill me. My b/f does not understand why I can read the book and not see the movie. Writing it out makes me wonder why, too, but it makes perfect sense in my head
Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend, MeMom!
I'm glad you are at a point with school that you'll have some more free time. It'll be good to just work and play this summer and not have reports and projects hanging over your head.
I have heard that
Marley and Me was so, so sad. That's one I doubt I will ever watch. The Earth movie did a good job off just suggesting what the ending would be, but then it whisked away to something else before the viewer had time to get too deep into the trauma of the loss.
'Teaching to the test' has become the catch phrase, and there is a reason for it. That's exactly what we have to do. We have a book that tell's what will be covered, and we spend the year introducing and repeating those skills. There's no room for creativity.
I hope you get to meet
DisKate! We'll look forward to hearing about your summer travels. I was trying to think of something fun for us to do between now and Disney. Jill and the girls are going to come up here for a couple of days during our Vacation Bible School week, but we won't be able to do much, since I've got to teach summer school every day until lunch time. I was thinking of going up to check out Beech Bend Park in Kentucky, because I've heard how neat that is now.
I have that one on request right now. I would love her to work at Disney. She says she will and I qute here, "be a dr. to animals, but noe the cows." We don't know why she says she won't work on cows but she is adament that she won't.
I love that I can be here on the Dis. It is my happy place. If I have bad day I can come here and find something that makes me smile.
I guess working with cows just doesn't mooooooove her, huh?
You knew I had to do that, right?
One of my teacher friends, the one who is villain crazy, has a twelve year old daughter who is all into animals. I keep suggesting she can go to work at Animal Kingdom someday. She likes that idea!
I appreciate the DIS, too. It's full of new information and ideas, fun trips to read about, and great pictures. You can socialize, sort of, with people who also love Disney things. It's a nice escape from real life - a good place to forget you worries and focus on fun things.

Sorry! I wish I did and
I wish every woman with children could be a SAHM. It has been a major financial challenge, but the greatest blessing imaginable.

I'll keep my eye out for a nice 50 something fella though!
So glad you enjoyed the movie. It was all amazing, but the time lapses were soooooo cool!!
Me, too, but the younger generation seems to want to work. My older teacher friends who have to work are all envious of the younger girls who get to stay home if they want to, but the younger girls seem to be anxious to go out and work. I think a 2-3 day a week job would be a happy medium. You could get out in the world some, but get to stay home with your kids some, too, and both would stay good.
Let me know about the 50+ fella when you find him. Make sure he's tall, since I'm 5'8', and be sure he likes to eat. Think Paula Deen with a little less southern accent and a lot less desire to be in front of a camera.
Oh, and a LOT less money!
But I can cook.
The time lapse photography was amazing and beautiful!

It is time for us to make Advanced Dining Reservations, friends!
Jill is calling this morning to try to get the following:
Saturday, 25th, arrival day,
Crystal Palace This was a hit with us last year on arrival day. We're going to try to get a time right after the afternoon parade.
Tuesday, 28th, the day Trent, Jarvis, and maybe Drew arrive
Teppan Edo It looks interesting.
Thursday, 30th, Four Parks in One Day
Cape May Buffet for brunch after riding Soarin', and then
Hollywood & Vine with the Fantasmic Dinner Package so we can be assured of getting into Fantasmic that night
Saturday, 1st,
Whispering Canyon Cafe This is the one the guys are all looking forward to the most.
That gives us two we've already done and three we haven't. Jill, John, and Brooklynn have done the H&V breakfast, but not dinner. None of us have been to Cape May or Teppan Edo. Crystal Palace and Whispering Canyon are repeats.
We'll see what she ends up with in a few hours.
