Hi everyone,

Looking to save some $$$ on food eating offsite?

Here's what we had one night earlier this month at the Steak/Shake chain restaurant in a little strip mall by Cypress Pointe in LBV.

(3 adults eating)

l double burger loaded, fries, salad, soup, strawbberry shake

l spicy chicken sandwich, fries, salad, soup, baked bean, pop

l spaghetti (only) platter and l pop

total $18.70 plus tip

Here's what we had the night before at Olivias at OKW

l soup and ice tea for ds

l hamburger/fries meal split between dd and I.

l free drink courtesy of DC card

Total $19. plus tip

Quite a difference in the amount of food for the same $$$. Food at both places was very good. Service excellent at SS, poor at Olivias.

We live in the town where the original Steak & Shake was:) I am good friends with the original owners grandson. Cool, huh? We love Steak & Shake. I think there burgers compare to Culvers Butter Burger. Have a great evening!

they must have done something wrong by the time they opened the Steak and Shake around here, because the food is truely horrible, everyone thinks so.

I also love Steak and Shake and make sure to go on each trip to FL. Wish they had them in CT. Great food and a great value. And much better than the all you can eat places on 192
I get the burger, cottage cheese and cole slaw and of course a Chocolate shake and it fills me up for the rest of the day. Just leaves me enough room for a Beaver tail in Canada. lol

We looked in Crossroads, but only saw Taco Bell. Could you give me directions from the All Star Resorts? I would love to eat here. Do they have anything other than burgers, like diner food?

Hi,

The S/S is NOT in Crossroads shopping center.

Go north at the intersection of downtown disney /crossroads intersection.

Go a couple blocks to just past Palm Parkway. S/S is on your right in a little strip mall with Gioradnos (sp) pizza.

p.s.

Jeez, I can't remember what else is on their menu besides spagetti and burger.

Maybe someone else knows.

Nothing beats the Steak'n Shake for a really cheap but great meal!

We stay at Cypress Pointe everytime we're in Orlando and it's just a short walk to the restaurant. I like the idea of getting a salad included with your burger & fries too.:)

Frann when you come up Hotel Plaza Blvd. to the Crossroads turn left and continue up the road until you see the Steak' Shake on your left in a small plaza.:)

Here's the web site for the restaurant too.

Alisha that's too bad! :( Maybe the ones in IL are better? Although, I've had meals at Steak N' Shake's in Ft. Myers, FL, St. Louis, and the one referenced in the orignial post and all were excellent! I have loved Steak-n-Shake since I was a little girl "In Sight It Must Be Right" ;) The ones I grew up with in Springfield were always a favorite with my mom and I...the original ones in IL were drive ups and you could eat out in your car with a tray on the window :)
My favorites...steakburgers w/cheese, chili, and chili mac. In the last 15 years or so the menu has expanded in a big way. They have typical family restaurant fare, BLT's, chicken strips, etc. I would say it's worth a stop!

Steak & Shake is a great value...and open all night, I believe. My husband swears by their chili. I just love the milkshakes. :)

Funny, we're in Ohio as well and our S & S just isn't that good!

Thanks for the info - I have never tried the Steak N Shake....but I will now!

After the plane lands in Orlando--first stop--Steak N Shake. It is by far the best deal going in Florida! I wish we had one in NY!!

Try the grilled chicken on sourdough with thousand island dressing, cheese & ??bacon. Its great.

Their soup is normally A#1 too!

And the best malts in the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am going to have to agree, Steak n shake is soooo good. We were in DW for 2 weeks in august and ate at the one in orlando 2 times and the one in daytona 1. We are from buffalo, ny and there isn't any in our state. I even came home to look that up and realized the closest one is hours away. I find myself craving their burgers at least once a month. Hands down one the best inexpensive restaurants with great food.

The SnS restaurant in Orlando is the only one we've ever etaen at.

None here in Mn that I know of, unfortunately.

Let me preface this by saying that my DH has an allergy to MSG. I know that they don't use it at all on-property, and Steak and Shake sounded like a place that would be right up his alley (food wise).
I wrote to them on their website to ask if they use MSG in any of their menu items, and this is what I received in reply:

Dear Steak n Shake Patron,

Thank you for your patronage of our restaurants. We are glad that you enjoy our food enough to request nutritional information regarding it, but unfortunately we do not issue such information. You can rest assured, however, that we use only the finest ingredients and preparation methods in our offerings.

Again, thank you for your interest in Steak n Shake. We hope that you will continue to enjoy our superior food quality and customer service.

Sincerely,

Dear SteaknShake-

My spouse is allergic to MSG (Monosodium Glutamate), and before we make the choice to eat at one of your establishments, I'd like to make sure that he won't have to go to the emergency room after his meal.

Can you give me this information?
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Sincerely,

Now, was I being too demanding about inquiring about this information???

I can't believe they don't think you have the right to know! It's nice to know that WDW doesn't use any MSG. How did you find that out?
