A trip to WDW w/NO kids? Hubba Hubba! Wink Wink! UPDATE: EXTRA, EXTRA!!! Pg 158

We went to the bus stop for DTD, where there was another couple waiting. They were honeymooners…such a cute couple. We had a bit of a wait, so we started talking with them. Then, Mike started “making fun” of me a bit  , saying I planned our vacation to a tee, and that I frequent a Disney message board. So this girl asked which one, and I told her. And guess what? She’s a DISer! My first DISer sighting!! Unfortunately I didn’t have my LGMH’s because I didn’t want to take my backpack to DTD. :confused3 She had one on her backpack, but I never got a good look at it until she turned around and showed me. I don’t remember her screenname though…I know her first name is Yvonne. Yvonne, I hope you find me!

We waited at least 15 minutes for the bus. :hourglass We arrived at DTD about 20 minutes after that, and we were HUNGRY! It was definitely time to put some of those credits to use. I remembered reading in a lot of people’s reports that the Earl of Sandwich was really good---in fact, I haven’t read a bad thing about it yet. I told Mike we should head there. We checked out a map and realized we’d have to walk CLEAR across to the other end. Could we do it? Only one way to find out!

We trucked it all the way there, me in my heels that I insisted on wearing to look taller! Of course, we had to stop when we saw this…
Disney2007043.jpg

It’s made entirely out of Legos! (well, maybe not “entirely”)
And…this is where I found someone shorter than me (in heels)…so I HAD to take a picture!
Disney2007042.jpg

“Hey, how ya doin buddy?”

Okay, no more stopping….let’s get that food! I could tell Mike was wanting to give up….he kept pointing to buildings ahead and saying “Is that it?” and of course I’d say “no” Then he’d ask again a little further up. I kept promising him it would be worth the walk (hoping the DIS would not fail me ). Finally, we see it up ahead!
Darn…forgot a pic…guess we were REALLY hungry!

We ordered, and went to the end of the line to pay. The only complaint I have about EoS is that their machines apparently aren’t set up properly to quickly process DDP purchases. It took 5 minutes for the cashier to complete each order, and I noticed several different receipts printing out (we received 2 each) and he stapled the rest. Our total came to $19.08…(for 2 sandwiches....whew, good thing Disney's footin' the bill!)

We found a seat, and then Mike took these (upon my orders :rotfl2: ) :
Disney2007045.jpg

I had the Full Montagu

Disney2007046.jpg

and Mike had the Cobb wrap.
We both enjoyed our meal…I also tasted his wrap and it was delicious. We shared his chips, and then this:
Disney2007047.jpg

We made it through a couple bites of this cupcake(or brownie, whatever it was ), then we were full. I just knew at this point that I would not make it through to dessert at any of our table service meals if I couldn’t handle this.

I almost forgot…Mike bought a beer when purchasing his meal. I think it was $4.00 (just FYI)
Disney2007048.jpg

There he goes looking away. Let’s try that again shall we?
Disney2007049.jpg

Okay, goofy face, but at least he looked at the camera.
We chilled as Mike finished his beer. And then spiked our cokes with the little bottle of rum we brought:thumbsup2 Bringing our own alcohol worked out really well for us…except on one particular evening---I’ll tell you about it when the time comes.
We walked to PI and noticed everyone was lining up for the 11:30 seating at the Comedy Club. (The show starts approx. 15 minutes later) We decided we had the energy (and were enjoying our “free” drinks) so we got in line. A rather odd gentlemen started telling me that I need to do ankle exercises (bend them back and forth) since I wear high heels. I won’t bore you with the details of that conversation, but it lasted about 15 minutes. :lmao:
We showed our ID’s and Key to the World cards (we had the water park fun and MORE option) and we were in like Flynn.

I liked the setting, there were lots of old things on the walls---looked like most of them came from within the parks. (I thought I took pics of the walls, but I don't see them. Sorry, maybe I'll come across them later) Just FYI, they tell you where to sit, so don’t expect to go finding your own seat if you attend this show.

Disney2007054-1.jpg

This is a nightly improv. show, much like “Whose Line is it Anyway” if you have seen that. They take suggestions from the audience, and they happened to take one of mine. When they asked for a sentence with the word “Shenanigans” in it, I swore I could hear crickets chirping. So I raised my hand, they called me, and I said “Enough of all these shenanigans!” So they made a song about it. Here’s some more pics:

We laughed a lot, and were really glad we decided to see the show. But we had to get back to the room and get some sleep…because tomorrow we’d be going to….the Magic Kingdom!!! :woohoo: Would we wake up in time to be there for opening at 9 AM? What “land” would we explore first? Would we spot any characters? All this and more…in the next update!

And FINALLY...Day 1 comes to an end. Are we sad? NO! Because there's still 6 more days of Disney to come!!!!

NEXT: Day 2: Part 1--MK Rope Drop or Bust!

Great update!!

Cute heels. I could have never walked around DTD in those:goodvibes

Like the pic with the lego people:rotfl2:

We went to comedy club on our honeymoon and it was hilarious:rotfl2:

That was cool that they picked your shenagians phrase:thumbsup2

Hmm....I think you make it to park opening.

I think you start out in Tomorrowland??

Am I close??

So we sampled a few of these. I had told Mike about Beverly before, but apparently he forgot what I said. I told him he should try it, and even pointed out the sign above (see, I’m not THAT mean)
Beverly.jpg

I read it aloud…“Beverly, with its BITTER flavor….”

He decided to try anyway, and said it was the most disgusting thing he’s ever tasted. (He said it almost came back up  ) I wish I had a picture of his face, but sorry I don’t. :confused3

Mike can't say that he wasn't warned. ;) They have a similar area at the World of Coca-Cola in Atlanta where you can sample products from around the world. I can't remember if I ever tried Beverly.

NOTHING. No luggage. Our plane landed at 12:45, we checked into our room at 2:30, and still no luggage. I made a phone call to the front desk. I’ll spare you the dialogue. They said it was “at the resort” but just had not made it to our room yet…and that it shouldn’t be too much longer. I asked if I could just get it myself, and he said that wasn’t possible. I think, okay, I need a little downtime anyway. Mike falls fast asleep. I watch some TV…not sure if the OJ thing started then or if that was the next night. At about 6:45, still NO luggage, I call again. (I know, I should’ve bugged them MUCH sooner) I tell them what the other guy told me, etc, and he says that he would check to see why it hadn’t been delivered yet. He puts me on hold, and then tells me that it’s “on the cart” and should be at my room in about 10 minutes. 10 minutes goes by…and you guessed it, NO luggage. I am going NUTS at this point, looking outside the door to see if I could spot whomever would be bringing it. Mike woke up, and I told him what the man said. Now we were BOTH outside looking. 20 minutes...no luggage. I suggested going to the gift shop to get a box of those Entenmann’s donuts with a snack credit. So, we did…looked around for a few, ended up buying a box of donut holes. I bet Mike that our luggage would be in the room when we got back. (He didn’t believe me…I shoulda put money on it!)
We returned to the room, and I was right!

Sorry you had to wait so long for you luggage. I knew that was one of the drawbacks to using the Magical Express service, so we made sure that we had everything we needed that day (and clothes for the next day in case the airline lost our luggage) in our carry-on bags. But unlike you, we arrived too early to be able to check-in to our room when we arrived at Pop before we headed over to MK to spend the afternoon. Fortunately, my friend Kirk flew in the night before, and we were able to stash our stuff in his room until that evening. ;)

thanks! and Thanks! That was the first time I wore those. I'm used to wearing heels a lot because I'm SO short and I rarely wear flats.

Those lego people are so cool! :thumbsup2

Hmm...if I told you, I'd have to kill you. :rotfl2:

Yeah, Disneydad toured it and posted a mini report on his PTR. It looked really cool! I'm a big fan of Coca Cola so I'd LOVE to go there.

I think you'd remember if you had Beverly....it made Mike gag.

If you didn't have Kirk, the resort would have held your stuff for you until your room was ready. Even through all of that, I still think we'll use the service whenever we fly to WDW again...it's worth having less hassle. I will only use it if we arrive before noon though.

well, I gotta head to bed now. I hope everyone enjoys my update tonight...I worked really hard on it! :thumbsup2

LOVE the shoes! Sounds like a good night out, thank goodness you saved the comedy act by coming up with a sentence for shenanigans. :lmao:

 6 more days!! I love the beginning of a disney trip. Oh how I wish I were there NOW! :sad2:

LOVE the shoes! Sounds like a good night out, thank goodness you saved the comedy act by coming up with a sentence for shenanigans. :lmao:

thanks! I got them in Destin...last pair, my size, on clearance for $15.00...My mom teased me about buying yellow shoes, but I just LOVED them so I had to buy them.

yes, thank goodness! :rotfl2:

To elaborate on that, it started out with them asking a person at one of the front tables what their name was. Her name was Sharon, so then they asked for a word beginning with the letters "SH". Another guy shouted out "Shenanigans"! So that's when they asked for a sentence with the word, and it seriously got quiet...it was funny. After I said my sentence, everyone cheered, and Mike said "how'd you do that?" :rotfl:

:lmao: that's what Mike gets for teasing you about the DIS. You never know just who you might be talking to. That's awesome that you met your first DISer on your first night. I hope she finds you on here too

yeah he was pretty strange. At first he seemed alright, and then he started the achilles talk and I was ready to knock him out. Okay, maybe not knock him out, but I wanted to go get seated (and NOT next to him)
By the way, I think he was from GEORGIA! :rotfl:

thanks...I don't know why that pic of Mike came out such a funny color, but he took a great pic of me. (Is it the lens operator, or the subject? :confused3 )

 6 more days!! I love the beginning of a disney trip. Oh how I wish I were there NOW! :sad2:

Me too!!!

Great job Cheri! Super pictures!

You and the little lego guy... :rotfl2:

thanks! Mike takes some pretty good pics...so I'll pass on the compliment.

Hey don't mess with my lego boy.

Sorry, Dan I got my mom hooked on Sunshine months ago:cool1: :cool1:
Darn it,

Hey cheri, I am over 5 points already so do you get your referal points from me now?

You know you can feel free to send me a portion of that disney gift card you get now. :thumbsup2

Just kidding you can have it.

I did not get into the scracher game again this morning and I tried at 7:30 my time, must wake up earlier.

Have you ever gotten it later than that?

Ohh yeah great update. those sandwiches look awesome.

That stinks that it took that long for your luggage to get to your room. I would have been steaming, especially because we have kids. I'm glad we got our own luggage. A bit of a pain but well worth it.

I am shocked at your too for trying to rob Disney out of all your dollars!

“Enough of all these shenanigans!”
Did you ever see that movie that there are a bunch of people that work at a restaurant called "Shenanigan's"?

Great update!

You showed us what you had at EoS...but you didn't say if you liked it! Soooo...didja??? Didja like it? I looooooooved EoS!

Loved the lego pic. I think we're the same height...so I would be taller than that very large lego person as well!

Sounds like you had lots of fun and those sandwiches are making me hungry. It's time for lunch.

WAITING!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 LOVE that movie!! We've talked about Ryan Renolds on this thread before. He's so hot. And he's dating Scarlet Johansen...did anyone know that? I read that in my weekly edition of OK Magazine (yes, I like to know the "dirt" on celebs it makes me :rotfl2: and keeps me entertained)

Hey, they make a decent drink, but I couldn't bear to keep buying $10.00 drinks. What can I say, I majored in Finance, and I know how to save my money. :rotfl:

Yes, "Waiting" It was funny! Dane Cook was also in it, I think it was his first movie. It was filmed at the Bennigans in New Orleans (which closed shortly after...:rolleyes1 )

Great update!

By the way, you were one of the people I was trusting about it being good. :thumbsup2

I'm 5' nothin' Very large lego person...:lmao:

Sounds like you had lots of fun and those sandwiches are making me hungry. It's time for lunch.

yeah we did! It was a great way to start the trip...although I was a bit worried about waking up for MK the next morning...

hey everyone, my wonderful husband just brought me a latte from PJ's! (it was his punishment :lmao: for making me bring his truck again last night to pick up siding, and I didn't get to sleep til 1 AM!) I was so tired this morning that I didn't wake up in time to stop on the way to work.

And what do y'all think of my new avatar?!

Hi Cherbear- jumping onto your report, I'm glad you linked installments because I could no sift through 99 pages worth! Love it so far! We had to wait forever for our luggage too (there goes the 3 hour rule). My dh wants to try the Segways, they look fun! I tried to get him with the Beverly and he had no reaction, thought it tasted like Zima.
