A Trip of Magical Memories-Princess 1/2 Marathon Weekend-March 5-8, 2010 Updated 6/24

I love the picture of you when you finished with your arms up!!! That is priceless!

And dang if I didn't tear up reading this! I can only imagine your emotions when you finished. Congrats on your accomplishment! I'm so happy for you!

I almost forgot...do you get your things back that you leave behind??? Like in a big lost and found area? Or is that just part of it?

im so excited about my first 1/2 next year thanks for the extra motavation in all this heat :goodvibes. I didnt even think about have to go to the bathroom :lmao:

I'm glad that you're excited--you should be. It is definitely a fun race and worth all the effort. I think you will love it, and I'm glad that I've motivated you!:thumbsup2

Wow, what a journey! I loved the race report. I could tell how emotional you were, I got goosebumps reading about it! Congratulations on that AMAZING accomplishment. You should be so proud :goodvibes

Awww, thank you! I'm really glad that you enjoyed it. It was a lot of fun to write about and to re-live!

Thanks, that picture happens to be one of my favorites too. I felt like I was on top of the world at that moment!

Oh, I totally forgot to mention what happens with all the articles of clothing that gets tossed. What happens is that Disney comes along and picks them all up, and they then get donated to a shelter, which I think is pretty cool. I'd went to JC Penney a couple weeks before the race and found the fleece jacket that I was wearing for like $5, so I had no problem letting it go, not to mention it going to a good cause helped as well! I just hated to part with my gloves cause I'd had them forever!

Oh my gosh what an accomplishment. I got teared up reading it too. Amazing story and Im sure it was an amazing trip. It is so nice to have a husband who is there for you. Mine has been so supportive of me running and doing this and is willing to stay home with our 2 kids while I go selfishly to disney by myself (well with my mom). I really wish he could be there for me too and reading your report makes me a little sad that he wont be. How was mikes experience with getting around to see you and where did you meet him after. I am trying to get a plan together for my mom and aunt who will be with me. I think you said before the chear squad package is worth it, right? Did he have to use his park tickets at all that day. I know the finish line is outside epcot so he did not go into epcot at all right? We were not going to get the park hopper to say money and we were hoping to go to MK that day so I dont want them to have to use their tickets for epcot. Sorry for all the questions and again thank you so much for sharing your experience with us. You told it so well and it is such an inspiration!:thumbsup2

I'm sorry that your DH won't be able to be there at the race, but I'm glad that your Mom and Aunt will be.
As far as the ChEar Squad package goes, Mike told me that he was happy that he had it, but he wouldn't do it again next year. I think most of what he paid for was the t-shirt and the other items in the bag. There was a "reserved" spot at the Castle, but according to him, the area wasn't that big, and he could have saw the same thing by just hanging out on Main Street. And as far as the "reserved" spot at the finish line, he said that there was a section of grandstands that were reserved, but the view was better right by the rope. He told me that he really wasn't able to get anywhere with the package that someone without it couldn't. You are right, he didn't go into Epcot at all. When he left the Magic Kingdom, he took the monorail over, and then walked to the finish line in the parking lot. So, the MK, and the finish line were the only two places that he saw me.

I hope that helps at least a little. If you have any more questions, please, ask away. I'm more than willing to help with what I can.

By the way, since you're planning on being there, I hope we can at least meet up and say hi sometime!

Congratulations! That is an amazing accomplishment and you should be so proud!:cheer2:

Thanks, Lessa!

Finally catching up on your TR. Great pictures!

Glad you found your way back!

By the time we made it back to the resort, my muscles were already starting to get sore. Thankfully, our room wasn't too far from the bus stop, so we didn't have too far to walk.

Once we made it to the room, I crashed on the bed. I was so tired, I just wanted to nap! I think I only slept for an hour or so while Mike watched TV. Even as tired as I was, I was also hungry. And knowing that I was in Disney made it harder to sleep--heck, I could sleep when I got home!

Since neither Mike nor I had any breakfast, we were really starving by this point. I really didn't want to mess with the food court at SSR, and I was craving a big juicy hamburger, so I decided I wanted Wendy's! We jumped in the car and used the GPS to find one close by. I was so hungry that I wolfed every last crumb down!

After we made it back from Wendy's I decided to rest a little more. The only thing on the agenda for the remainder of the day was dinner at 'Ohana, and we still had plenty of time until then.

So, we lounged around in the room, watched more TV and napped on and off. It really was relaxing, and probably the only time I've napped in Disney!

Our ADR for dinner was at 8:10, so at about 5, we finally got up and decided to get ready for the rest of the evening. My muscles were really, really sore by this time.:scared1: I had to laugh at myself, because when I went to blow dry my hair, I flipped my head over and nearly did a tumble right there. My body was so stiff that the whole thing nearly flipped over instead of just my head!

I decided that I wanted to wear my "I Did It" shirt to dinner along with my medal. I almost felt a little weird about it at first, kind of like I was bragging on myself, but then I was proud of myself. Not to mention, I knew that everyone else with a medal would be wearing their's as well!

We finally made it to the Poly at about 7:30. I was hoping that the wait wouldn't be long, but when we arrived, the waiting area was packed. Thankfully we only had to wait 5 minutes or so before our buzzer went off. We took this quick self pic before we were seated...

I really didn't take any pics of this meal since we'd just eaten here in September and I took lots then. I did however, take a pic of my cool drink that I ordered.

I think this was my first official alcoholic beverage from Disney! It was okay, but it looked a lot cooler than it tasted...the alcohol was pretty strong.

We really enjoyed our meal, and was even able to catch some of the fireworks from Wishes. It turned out to be a great way to end the day.

Once we were finished, I was too tired to do any exploring, so we headed straight back to SSR. We watched a little more TV, then packed up everything except what we'd need in the morning, then called it a night!

thanks for the advice. I might buy my mom and aunt the package just as a thank you for coming with me kinda gift. It might make them feel part of my big day even more. I will let them know about the grandstand at the finish. Im sure my mom will want to be right there to see me cross.:lovestruc Well hopefully I cross, I guess Im getting ahead of myself:laughing:

I would love to try to meet up before the race. i am participating in the BL challenge and have joined the incredibles team. I have met a bunch of ladies all doing the race so I hope to meet alot of disers while there. Its also my aunts first time to the world so I feel like I have to try to crunch alot in in 4 1/2 days since Im not sure if she will ever get back to visit.

Your day ended so nice. That drink looked like alot of fun! Glad you just relaxed and enjoyed the moment. I was cracking up about you almost falling over.:lmao: I have a full day planned after the race to tour the MK. I figured I would go back rest a little and shower and meet up with my mom and aunt once Im ready. Hopefully I can do it. I figure its disney I cant waste away the time laying around:rotfl2:

What an awesome experience! I was all teary-eyed by the end, just imagining how you must have felt. Someday I want to do a race at Disney, it sounds really fun!

What an amazing race. I just started traing for the princess half marathon, maybe i'mm see you there.

I had the same problem! I was SO tired after the race, but, like the commercials say, I was too excited to sleep!

What a great TR, i'm all teary eyed at your accomplishment, what an awesome thing to do!! :cool1:

I hope one day (maybe soon ;)) I'll get to do one of these for the first time. Your TR is very inspiring, thank you! :thumbsup2

You can add me to the teary eyed group too. I will be running it next year and I am super excited! But, I am pretty darn sure I am going to cry. ;)
Great TR :goodvibes
