Day 1. July 12th, 2007.

The car service comes to pick up Scott and Biff at 8:30am. We were all meeting at La Guardia in NYC to fly down together. We get to the airport within 40 minutes. Check our bags at curbside and realize that American Airlines now charges for this service (I liked the days of getting all the extras included) and proceeded to security. Go through this in 5 minutes.
5 minutes later we are all together, I take a pic looking out the window at New York City.

11:10 was the departure time, however, they made an announcement the plane would not arrive till 11am so now 11:30 is the departure time. Well yes u guessed it this was changed also. 11:30 the plane arrives.

then we board and i took this.

OK now I have heard on these boards about the Brazilian tour groups that go to Disney in the summer, well we had 2 on the plane with us. This 1 girl though wanted to sit next to this guy and would not sit elsewhere even with the flight attendants yelling at her, yours truly telling them to arrest her after 5 minutes of this and everyone else screaming at her to sit.
10 minutes later she takes a seat and we taxi. Then she stands again and gets yelled at but sits. As soon as the plane leveled off she was up and in the back next to the tour leader again and then he got up and got a new seat. Only 5 in the group were really annoying.
it was a nice flight as u can see.

We start our descent into Orlando and are told to expect turbulence, OK no problem. None of us are great flyer's but hey you do what u gotta do. Well as we go down all of the sudden the plane drops now JM is sitting behind and is 6 so she screams "weee". I turned and said JM you just had your first Disney ride. well that calmed everyone down. We then proceeded to land without any other incidents.

This was my 1st time flying into Orlando and I love the monorail from the terminal to the main terminal.

Such fun....

Anyway we proceed to the Magical Express. What a fantastic perk this is for staying on the property. i loved it, it was so easy. We waited about 7 minutes for the driver to come aboard and then we left for WDW. It was 3pm so like everyday at 3pm the skies opened up. By the time we got to Riverside it had stopped.

Great pictures. I tried taking pictures from inside the airplane, but my digital would not focus and take the picture. And, I forgot about the mono-rail at the airport.

Thanks, It was quite a gang there. It took 7 adults to take a 6 year old. Wait till the fun pics we took and bought. Some should not be shown but they will be.

Thank you. I had to delete 600 pics for blurry or just not good but it left me with 1000.
I got the idea of plane pics from this board so I tried it and was happy with the results.

OK so we make it to Riverside and can I just say what a gorgeous resort. We get off the of the ME and walk through the lobby doors and it is beautiful. three of us go up and check in as we have 3 rooms. Check in was quick and painless. It is a Grand Gathering for us and 1 room was around the corner from the other 2 but that was perfectly fine.

We then proceed out the door to the mansions. here is the sign above the driveway.

AND THEY REALLY DO....

I just cannot say enough about the room and the location. We were about 1 minute from a quiet pool and about 4 minutes from the bus and restaurant and bar. Add 2 more minutes for the big pool and Muddy Rivers bar.

I had ordered a basket for JM and the card said from Mickey. it was a big hit she loved it.

This was waiting in the girls room for them. All other rooms got nothing all weekend.

Coming up, Riverside tour continued and then dinner and DTD.....

I gotta go sleep and see if I can get rid of this flu.

So after out little tour of the resort we had 6:40 ressie at Boatwright's.
(Side note: 3 days earlier I called the restaurant to see about a personalized menu for JM and was told it was close but)
OK so I'm told to go 15 minutes earlier than everyone else and I go to the podium and explain what I was told and they got the manager who had Jm's personalized menu welcoming her to WDW for her 1st trip.
I take a buzzer and go back to bar and 5 minutes later we r buzzed (by the buzzer not the alcohol) so we proceed to the table where there r balloons on the table for JM and they present her with the menu and also an autographed photo of Mickey Mouse. Well she was excited and so was everyone else. No one knew I did this and everyone was surprised and happy.
We order dinner and the Jambalaya was delicious. We then proceed to--

to go to Downtown Disney. here are some things we saw along the ride...

OK so we got to Downtown Disney and we walk around and here are some of the things we see.

Then we proceeded to walk around and i saw this thing.

oh my I could really do damage in this place. I controlled and only bought 1 thing.

Here I am again with an old friend.

Then it was time to go back to the resort and first we stopped at

MMMM. so cold and delicious. I know I should not be eating food like this but hey, i tried to lose 50 lbs but only lost 30. Now i am dieting again.

So then we jumped on the boat and had a nice relaxing ride back to the resort where we then went to out rooms and went to sleep.

The crowds were light in my opinion. We found benches to sit on to eat our sundae's and never once did we feel crushed. Will it remain this way through the parks?????

Hey! I am loving your trip report. We are staying at POR in January. I love seeing all the picstures of the resort. Only difference is we'll be staying in the Alligator bayou section because we have a family of 5. Looking forward to more!

Thanks. It was really beautiful. We made the ressie right away when we booked so that was 3 months in advance. Now when we were leaving the restaurant it was beginning to fill up so a reservation I think is definitely needed. Good food there also.

I heard about the menu's on here, with more notice I could have had a picture put on it but there was no time to send one to them and have them send it out and get it done. The menu was just perfect as it was.

Hey! I am loving your trip report. We are staying at POR in January. I love seeing all the pictures of the resort. Only difference is we'll be staying in the Alligator bayou section because we have a family of 5. Looking forward to more!

Thanks for reading. I think no matter what section you are in you will love the resort. We are thinking of going again in January and deciding if we will be staying there again or trying a new resort.
