A thought for the Day

Very nice thoughts here.

A lot of people have gone farther than they thought they could because someone else thought they could.

I agree, such wonderful thoughts have been posted here! Thank you all :)

Imagine it so

Not only can you see and understand what is, you can imagine what is to be. It is a precious and wonderful ability that can make all the difference in the world.
There is no limit to what you can imagine. No matter what may have happened in the past, or what the reality of the present may be, you can imagine the future in any way you wish.

Valuable and flexible as imagination may be, there is something even better. And that is your ability to take the best you can imagine and make it real.

When you combine imagination with action, discipline and commitment, you can literally change your world. Look at any achievement, great or small, and you'll see a case of imagination that has been forged into reality.

Even as a child, with much less knowledge and experience than you now possess, you had a strong imagination. Just think how much more powerful that ability to imagine has now grown.

Put your imagination to positive use, and focus your efforts on bringing about the best you can imagine.

When asked.....
how do you divide your love between all those whom you love....
perhaps a better answer is: "I don't....I multiple" :)

Delight in the journey

Those who delight in the journey will also get the most enjoyment after reaching the destination. Those who whine and complain all the way there will continue to be miserable even when they arrive, if they ever make it that far.
Find joy and fulfillment in the process of achievement and the rewards will be most fulfilling too. For the real value of the reward is in the effort, the commitment, the substance of life that goes into reaching it.

Certainly it takes a great deal of effort, focus and discipline to achieve an ambitious goal. But who says those things must be unpleasant? Actually, whether something is unpleasant or not is usually just a matter of opinion. And you are free to change your opinion at any time.

Imagine what would happen if you could truly and sincerely enjoy those activities that are necessary for reaching the success you desire. Consider how much more interested, enthusiastic, skilled, committed and persistent you would be.

Take delight in the journey, enjoy what you're doing, while you're doing it, whatever it may be. And you'll truly arrive in style and grace, wherever you wish to go.

What lies behind us and what lies before us are small matters compared to what lies within us.

We must be prepared to acknowledge that there is no simple definitive answer to the "Why?" of suffering. Instead, we may approach the problem from a different perspective: God is a God who suffers alongside us.

John Stott once said, "I could never myself believe in God, if it were not for the Cross." God is not a God who is immune from suffering. He is not looking on as an impassive observer, far removed from the suffering world.......God was "in Christ," reconciling the world to Himself (II Corinthians 5:19). He became one of us, He suffered in all the ways in which we suffer. He does not just know about suffering---He has suffered Himself.

Great thoughts CRB! God identified Himself with us in becoming like us and putting on the nature of humanity with all that we feel and experience. He does not stand up above enjoying watching our pain, but instead sustains us and goes so far as to say that in our weakest moments HE is our greatest STRENGTH! AMEN!

I haven't been over on this thread for a LONG time!

Lanshark, I love "Footprints" you posted on page 66. This is a newer one I saw a couple of years ago by an anonymous author and I just had to post it!

New Footprints In The Sand

U N K N O W N

Now imagine you and the Lord Jesus are walking along the beach together. For much of the way the Lord’s footprints go along steadily, consistently, rarely varying in the pace. But your prints are in a disorganized stream of zig zags, starts, stops, turnarounds, circles, departures, and returns. For much of the way it seems to go like this. But gradually, your footprints come in line with the Lord’s, soon paralleling His consistently. You and Jesus are walking as true friends.

This seems perfect, but then an interesting thing happens; your footprints that once etched the sand next to the Master’s are now walking precisely in His steps. Inside His large footprints is the smaller “sand print,” safely enclosed. You and Jesus are becoming one; this goes on for many miles.

But gradually you notice another change. The footprints inside the larger footprints seem to grow larger. Eventually they disappear altogether. There is only one set of footprints. They have become one; again this goes on for a long time.
But then something awful happens. The second set of footprints is back. This time it seems even worse than before. Zig zags all over the place. Stop. ..start. Deep gashes in the sand. A veritable mess of prints. You’re amazed and shocked. But this is the end of your dream.

Now you speak:
“Lord, I understand the first scene with the zig zags, fits, starts, and so on. I was a new Christian, just learning. But You walked on through the storm and helped me learn to walk with You.”

“That is correct,” replied the Lord.

“Then, when the smaller footprints were inside of Yours, I was actually learning to walk in Your steps. I followed You very closely.”

“Very good. You have understood everything so far.”

“Then the smaller footprints grew and eventually filled in with Yours. I suppose that I was actually growing so much that I was becoming more like You in every way.”

“Precisely.”

“But this is my question, Lord. Was there a regression of something? The footprints went back to two, and this time it was worse than the first.”

The Lord smiles, then laughs.

“You didn’t know?” He says. “That was when we danced!”

I absolutely love that. It so mirrors my walk with the Lord (the zig-zag part anyway. It was so wonderful to read this today. It was exactly what I needed.

I haven't been able to come in here and look much lately but you all have such wonderful words and thoughts!!!!

Just as each day is a new beginning, so is each night also a new start. Each night can be a chance to recharge ourselves after our day's batteries have run down. Each night can be a chance to start anew on our goals, our growth, our good thoughts.

Instead of reflecting on the past events of the day, we can look forward to the moments to come. We can be unafraid of the darkness of the night as we prepare for tomorrow by using positive energy.

Although the day is done, tomorrow is yet to come. There are plans to make, places to go, people to see, and projects to do. Tomorrow can begin with hope and strength and energy directed to all our forthcoming events.

I can see tomorrow as a new beginning.

Unaffordable

Every moment spent in negativity is paid for with something truly priceless. That something is life. It is completely impossible to ever replace even a single minute spent on negative thinking. And not only does negative thinking represent lost opportunity, it is also quite destructive in its own right.
In short, negative thinking is an extravagant, wasteful indulgence. It is indeed a hollow luxury that few people, if any, can afford.

The good news is that it is also unnecessary. For even in the most difficult, seemingly hopeless situations, negative thinking is completely optional. At no point, under no circumstance, in no situation are you ever required to waste your life with negative thoughts. You can find a positive approach, a positive response to any situation, no matter what it may be.

How many minutes, hours or days of your life do you wish to throw away on negative, defeating thoughts? The price of negativity is way too high, and thankfully, you don't need it at all.

The real essence

Success eludes many people because they define it too narrowly. They see it only in superficial terms of money, or fame, or power, and completely miss the real essence of success.
If you strive solely for material wealth, or influence, or the praise of others, then you're merely pursuing the empty shell of success, without ever attaining success itself. Such an approach rarely ever works, and even when it does it quickly crumbles.

Real success comes from adding value to the world in your own special way. And every day presents you with an abundance of opportunities for doing that.

Today is no exception. This very day, you can be as successful as the world's most widely acclaimed billionaire, simply by using what you have, to do what you can.

Success is found in directing your life toward a meaningful purpose. No amount of money, or power, or fame can ever equal that.

-- Ralph Marston
