A thought for the Day

"I pray to you GOD to forgive me from all my sins, to allow me to glorify you in every possible way."

"The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart."
- Helen Keller -

"Oh, God, open all doors for me. Oh God who answers prayers and answers those who ask you, I am asking you for your help. I am asking you for forgiveness. I am asking you to lighten my way. I am asking you to lift the burden I feel.

Oh God, you who open all doors, please open all doors for me, open all venues for me, open all avenues for me.

God, I trust in you. God, I lay myself in your hands....
There is no God but God, I being a sinner. We are of God, and to God we return".

I prefer to IGNORE the phanatical words of a terrorist and turn instead to the word of God.

There is deceit in the hearts of those who plot evil,
but joy for those who promote peace....
...The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in men who are truthful...
...A truthful witness does not deceive, but a false witness pours out lies...
...The mocker seeks wisdom and finds none,
but knowledge comes easily to the discerning.
Stay away from a foolish man, for you will not find knowledge on his lips....
...There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death...
...A scoundrel plots evil, and his speech is like a scorching fire.

CRB, I agree with you:) :) :) :) .

ATTA and his followers truly committed an unspeakable EVIL. I'm just trying to point out that in doing so, they truly BELIEVED that they were serving GOD:( :( :( :( . Of course, WE can say that they were in the clutches of SATAN, but many in the Islamic world would AGREE.................with THEM, not US:( :( :( :( .........

Grand opportunity

If you take comfort in complaining about your life you'll find plenty to complain about. The more you feel sorry for yourself, the more reasons you'll have to feel sorry for yourself.
But why in the world would you want to get caught in that terrible downward spiral? It will bring you nothing of value.

Sure, life is unfair. But rather than using that as an excuse to give up, see it as a challenge to keep going. If your life was totally fair and predictable, full of nothing but empty pleasures, you'd grow hopelessly bored with it within a week or two.

Nothing can compare to the joy that comes when you truly make a positive difference in spite of the obstacles you face. It doesn't matter what life has handed you. What really matters is what you do with it.

Life is unfair, and because it is unfair you are presented with a grand opportunity. You can find joy and delight and fulfillment anyway. The hardships you must transcend only serve to make the real, genuine experience of living that much more valuable.

Today is a beautiful, wonderful day that is like no other. Rather than searching for something to complain about, look for something to do with it that will make it great.

In Brooklyn, NY, Chush is a school that caters to learning disabled children. Some children remain in Chush for their entire school career, while others can be mainstreamed into conventional schools.

At a Chush fundraising dinner, the father of a Chush child delivered a speech that would never be forgotten by all who attended. After extolling the school and its dedicated staff, he cried out."Where is the perfection in my son Shay? Everything God does is done with perfection. But my child cannot understand things as other children do. My child cannot remember facts and figures as other children do. Where is God's perfection?"

The audience was shocked by the question, pained by the father's anguish and stilled by the piercing query. "I believe," the father answered, "that when God brings a child like this into the world, the perfection that He seeks is in the way people react to this child."

He then told the following story about his son Shay:

One afternoon, Shay and his father walked by a park, where some boys Shay knew were playing baseball. Shay asked, "Do you think they will let me play?" Shay's father knew that the boy was not at all athletic and that most boys would not want him on their team. But Shay's father understood that if his son was chosen to play, it would give him a comfortable sense of belonging. Shay's father approached one of the boys in the field and asked if Shay could play. The boy looked around for guidance from his teammates. Getting none, he took matters into his own hands and said,"We are losing by 6 runs and the game is in the eighth inning. I guess he can be on our team and we'll try to put him up to bat in the ninth inning." Shay's father was ecstatic as Shay smiled broadly. Shay was told to put on a glove and go out to play short center field. In the bottom of the eighth inning, Shay's team scored a few runs, but was still behind by three. In the bottom of the ninth inning, Shay's team scored again and now had two outs and the bases loaded, with the potential winning run on base. Shay was scheduled to be up. Would the team actually let Shay bat at this juncture and give away their chance to win the game? Surprisingly, Shay was given the bat. Everyone knew that it was all but impossible because Shay didn't even know how to hold the bat properly, let alone hit with it. However, as Shay stepped up to the plate, the pitcher moved in a few steps to lob the ball softly so Shay should be able to at least make contact. The first pitch came and Shay swung clumsily and missed. One of Shay's teammates came up to Shay and together they held the bat and faced the pitcher, waiting for the next pitch. The pitcher again took a few steps forward to toss the ball softly toward Shay. As the pitch came in, Shay and his teammate swung at the ball together, and hit a slow ground ball to the pitcher. The pitcher picked up the soft grounder and could have easily thrown the ball to the first baseman. Shay would have been out and that would have ended the game. Instead, the pitcher took the ball and threw it on a high arc to right field, far beyond the reach of the first baseman. Everyone started yelling,"Shay, run to first.Run to first." Never in his life had Shay run to first. He scampered down the baseline, wide-eyed and startled. By the time he reached first base, the right fielder had the ball. He could have thrown the ball to the second baseman that would tag out Shay, who was still running. But the right fielder understood what the pitcher's intentions were, so he threw the ball high and far over the third baseman's head.
Everyone yelled,"Run to second, run to second." Shay ran towards second base as the runners ahead of him deliriously circled the bases toward home. As Shay reached second base, the opposing shortstop ran to him, turned him in the direction of third base and shouted,"Run to third." As Shay rounded third, the boys from both teams ran behind him screaming,"Shay, run home." Shay ran home, stepped on the plate and all 18 boys lifted him onto their shoulders and made him a hero, as he had just hit a "grand slam" and won the game for his team.

"That day," Shay's father said softly with tears now rolling down his cheeks, "those 18 boys reached their level of God's perfection."

The "god" Atta was talking about, and the "god" mentioned on the Hamas flag is ALLAH, not the Christian God. The Christian God is a God of Love (just ask the people who believe in Him) Allah is not a god of love (just ask the people who believe in him).

Fear knocked. Faith answered. No one was there.

We can never truly go where God is not, and where He is, all is well.

No matter what is happening in your life, know that God is waiting for you with open arms.

God promises a safe landing, not necessarily a calm passage.

Do your best and then sleep in peace...God is awake.

The will of God will never take you where the grace of God cannot protect you.

Thanks, stevets:) . Of course, one could argue that there is really only ONE GOD...............it's just that Christians and Muslims view him quite differently. WHO IS TO SAY THAT ONE RELIGION'S VIEW IS MORE VALID THAN THE OTHER??????

Disney Doll, thank you for sharing that sweet story about Shay. It brightened my day. :)

Leaving aside the matter of truth...I guess it's up to the individual:
you can believe in the God of love or you can believe in the god of, well, the best way to put it is the god of submission. And Allah commands his followers to submit to his will and to force others to submit, by violent means if necessary.

And let me state unequivocally that Christians and muslims do not believe in the same god.

Disney Doll,
Your posts are very comforting. :)

The House

An elderly carpenter was ready to retire. He told his employer-contractor of his plans to leave the house building business and live a more leisurely life with his wife, enjoying his extended family. He would miss the paycheck, but he needed to retire. They could get by.

The contractor was sorry to see his good worker go and asked if he could build just one more house as a personal favor. The carpenter said yes, but in time it was easy to see that his heart wasn't in his work. He resorted to shoddy workmanship and used inferior materials. It was an unfortunate way to end a dedicated career.

When the carpenter finished his work, the employer came to inspect the house. He handed the front door key to the carpenter. "This is your house," he said,"my gift to you."

The carpenter was shocked!!!!What a shame!!! If he had only known he was building his own house, he would have done it all so differently.

So it is with us. We build our lives, a day at a time, often putting less than our best into the building. Then with a shock we realize we have to live in the house we have built. If we could do it over, we'd do it much differently.

But we cannot go back. You are the carpenter. Each day you hammer a nail, place a board, or erect a wall. "Life is a do-it-yourself project," someone has said. Your attitudes and the choices you make today build the "house" you live in tomorrow.

Yes, DD, we are all carpenters, building our houses.

Happiness is here

Happiness is far too valuable to be put off until later, or buried in the past. Happiness is here for you to bring to life in the only place where you can truly experience it, the present moment.
Being happy right now will not make your problems any worse. In fact, it will most likely make things better. Your happiness will not harm or offend anyone else. In fact, it may very well be of much value to others.

Happiness has no prerequisites, no conditions which must first be met, really no requirements at all. Experiencing happiness does not in any way deplete it, but increases the supply of it.

Stop waiting for happiness to come to you and start letting it come from you. And there will always be more than enough to go around.

-- Ralph Marston

Invest yourself

The times when you experience the highest level of fulfillment are the times when you give the most of yourself. The moments that are most meaningful are the moments into which you invest your effort, your energy and your commitment.
If you do just enough to get by, that's precisely what will happen -- you'll just get by. Yet when you truly invest yourself in life, with your time and work and attention, the dividends will be rich indeed.

It is your great fortune to be alive and living, aware and capable on this day that is filled with endless possibilities. You can squander that fortune or you can choose to expand and enlarge it even further.

The best that life has to offer cannot be bought with money. It can only be earned with your time, your effort, your attention and commitment. Accomplishment and fulfillment cannot be purchased off the shelf. They come as a result of what you're willing to give.

Invest the best of yourself in this day, in this moment, in the great experience of living. It's an investment that will continue to pay increasingly valuable returns.

-- Ralph Marston

Something to appreciate

A great way to remain positively focused is to have something positive toward which you can direct your thoughts at a moment's notice. That way, when you catch yourself falling into negative thought patterns you can quickly switch your thoughts somewhere else.
Imagine what would happen if you made a habit, at the beginning of each day, of finding something new to appreciate about yourself, your life, or your world. Then, any time you felt yourself being drawn into negative, destructive thinking, you could immediately put your focus on that day's object of appreciation and gratitude.

Genuine, heartfelt gratitude can have a powerful positive influence on every aspect of your life. It can be an effective counterbalance to all the negativity the world throws your way.

Think right now of something for which you can be truly grateful. Then, the next time you feel yourself being drawn into anger, frustration, spite, envy or despair, shift your focus instead to your ready-made gratitude.

Keep yourself genuinely and realistically positive with sincere gratitude. And each day will bring even more reasons to be thankful.

-- Ralph Marston

"Remind yourself that in this night you will face many challenges. But you have to face them and understand it 100 percent.... Obey GOD, his messenger, and don't fight among yourself where you become weak, and stand fast, GOD will stand with those who stood fast."
