The one that drives me up a wall is "loose" when "lose" should be used.
and I added one just for you.

Rediculous!
What about using the wrong word altogether just because they sound the same?
"It doesn't phase" me should be "faze" me.
Mexico and the USA share a "border" not a "boarder".
You "toe" the line not "tow" it unless you are water-skiing.
You "rein" in your spending not "reign" in.
It's a "moot" point rather than a "mute" point.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if the DIS were able to allow us to go in and correct other posters spelling? I keep reading the same wrong words from people so I know they aren't simple typos. Seeing some of the words is making me crazy today!
I'm not perfect and make plenty of spelling mistakes myself and wouldn't be the least bit offended if someone corrected mine.
I've seen similar spelled *simular* 3 times today and I think this is what set me off on this rant. So sorry if I'm offending anyone.

I wish I understood why this bugs some people so much.
Yep saw that one today as well......and yep, I cringed when I saw it. LOL
(I hadn't seen any complaints about spelling today so I thought I'd post one. My day isn't complete if I don't read at ONE thread on spelling mishaps! LOL)
Umm, no. If I wanted to feel superior, I would just come right out and tell people that I thought I was better than they are.

I have so many more important things to worry about. The world is not going to end because someone spelled "dining" wrong.
My son accidentally said "incrazable" (incredible, crazy), and I'm keeping it, for use with friends, but not in general on the DIS, lest someone think I'm serious! I agree...most times you can tell if someone "gets it" or not about correct spelling or word usage, but not always.I like it when it's done in fun. A friend and I will joke about voila/viola and occasionally even say "cello!" just to be silly. But generally you can tell when it's done out of ignorance, laziness, or apathy, and that bugs me.
This kind of makes it sound like you do think you're superior to the other posters just having a little fun on this thread.Umm, no. If I wanted to feel superior, I would just come right out and tell people that I thought I was better than they are.
