This is both a personal one and from many of my DVC colleagues.
As many of you will know I recently started work for DVC as an ASA ( the people who are usually the first contact with potential members, we are the ones who staff the info centres at the resorts and parks).
I had a day last week where the weather was not playing nice (bucketing down with rain all day) and I was outside at AK near camp minnie mickey. It was a pretty unpleasant time and it was getting me down a bit, park was virtually empty so no one to talk to, soaking wet and prety cold. During the course of the afternoon I had at least 3 DVC members come up to me and say how much they appreciated their DVC membership and wanted to say how much they appreciated the people who had been their first contact with DVC. They went on to let me know some of the wonderful things they had done with their memberships and how much it had enabled them to do with their families. It gave me a real lift to hear the stories from these families and helped me to get back up to where I needed to be when I had a few guests come up and ask me about DVC later that afternoon.
I talked to many of my colleagues over the next couple of days and everyone said how much they appreciate members coming up, saying hi and letting us know the fun they have had with their membership. It makes a big difference for us to know what we are doing can make a huge difference to families from all over the world. It keeps us motivated to help potential members to take those first steps to becoming members, and it gives a great lift at the times when things aren't perfect and reminds us of what DVC is all about.
Thanks guys, we know we can make a difference to your lives, but ( while it certainly isn't about the money) it's what we're paid to do , you can definately make a difference to our day and we very much appreciate when you take the time to do so.
