A Ten Day Ride on A Magic Camel - Almost Finished Trip Report

Enjoyed the pics from Sci-Fi. I could eat any of the above right now. We ate there last year and its now going to be a favorite. I should have gotten the glow cubes w/cup. Somehow I missed it. That's whats neat about seeing someone elses pics, you can see things you may have missed or over looked. Keep those shopping pics coming too, I'm making a mental list. I'm glad BrooklynnsMommy is having an easy time with her pregnancy. :thumbsup2

We loved the Sci Fi Dine In - the theming was fantastic. Having never seen it before I was literally going "wow, wow wow" as we were led to our table!

I think one of your meals was the same as mine - the chicken sandwich? My Dad had the shrimp pasta which was really nice too!

xxx

I'm late. Great TR. Congrats on the new addition. Brooklynn is adorable.

We love the air-conditioned cheesiness of Sci-Fi!!! I have not seen those souvenir cups before -- very neat!!!

Yeah, we decided to get them because they were unique Disney souvenirs.

i asked him and he said he was "unwavered." and then he added, "as long as they have that <insert dirty word here> in june, i'm not going."

that will be mine and erica's first full day at disney. we will be sure to think about you! :goodvibes

great installment....i love sci fi! we're eating there again in december. did you order a burger? what did you think? i'm getting a shake next time.....i hear they're good!

Oh well, I tried!

The burger was good. All two bites I ate. I am just glad this time I knew enough to get fries instead of that very yucky cucumber-melon salad I had last time.

Great pictures of Sci-Fi. I have always enjoyed eating there. I remember most of the movies that the clips represent, as the Saturday afternoon movie on TV.

I thought of you as we went through Tenn., to bad we went though Knoxville instead of Nashville

Yeah, 'cause I would have fixed you a big old southern style supper! Maybe next time!

Great pictures of Sci-Fi! The sandwiches look yummy!

They were pretty good. I don't know that any of us ate much, though, because we'd been out in that heat.

I went to Ocean City NJ in June for the first time with DBF. He used to go every summer when he was a kid but I had never been. He thought I was crazy because I kept talking about our WDW trip and saying "And they have a boardwalk that is just like the Jersey boardwalks!" He was like, "Um, that's where we are right now. Why are you excited about going somewhere that is a recreation of where we are right now?"

This is one of my favorite things at DHS...Teenagers from Outer Space is one of my favorite films of all time! It's hilarious, featuring everything from space monsters called Gorgons (lobsters held close to the camera lens) and a space-ray that turns people into skeletons. Plus the 'teenagers' all look about 35. I love that Sci-Fi has this poster!
This is why I love your reports...you have a great sense of humor :rotfl2:

The Disney version of anything is always better, of course!

I watched many giant sea creatures, rabbits, aliens, etc. back in the day, too.

If you appreciate my sense of humor, you should be worried! :rotfl:

great update and pics.

Thank you, sir! Now, go back to counting down your days!

I know. I love to see different perspectives of things through other people's pictures, too!

I want the job of doing Disney themes in resorts and parks. What a cool job!

I'm late. Great TR. Congrats on the new addition. Brooklynn is adorable.

We're glad to have you - late or not. I'm sure Jill will appreciate your good thoughts.

After we left here...

IMG_0892.jpg

we walked around a little.

IMG_0896.jpg

Brooklynn was getting tired, so Jill and John decided to go ahead and try to find a bench for the parade. Jill found a good one for us.

One of the survey guys came by to talk to them.

IMG_0898.jpg

Brooklynn did not participate in the survey for obvious reasons.

IMG_0899.jpg

I went into a few shops, because I had time to spare and the shops were there.

Then I decided that we would need something cold to help us sit through the heat until parade time.

IMG_0904.jpg

IMG_0905.jpg

When I brought the ice cream (which had little chance of survival in the heat) back to the bench, this character, Melvin, was beginning to entertain the crowd.

IMG_0906.jpg

There was no doubt that he would be our next Hollywood Hunk.

IMG_0907.jpg

Look at the little girl looking back at him.
She's thinking, "Dude, there is NO WAY you are the Next Hollywood Hunk!"

Rita Storey was hilarious.

IMG_0908.jpg

IMG_0909.jpg

Freddy was trying to compete with the aforementioned Hollywood Hunk.

IMG_0911.jpg

IMG_0910.jpg

All three of them were very entertaining.

It was nice to know all of their efforts to be big movie stars were not in vain, because there were real producers roaming the streets!

IMG_0912.jpg

By now, Brooklynn was awake.

It looks like she sees something interesting.

IMG_0913.jpg

What could it be?

Note that she has a travel-sized Sulley in her hand. (You did recognize the blue fur blob, of course, because, as a good Diser, you can identify any Disney character with just the tiniest bit of information.)
When Jill had taken her into a shop earlier, she was tired and crying until she fell asleep. Jill said she had cried after Sulley when she saw him. She loves Michaelsulley and hadn't been able to bring her huge one on the plane. Being of MeMom mind and body, I thought the smaller Sulley would be perfect, so I snuck off and made a quick purchase. When she woke up and saw him, she liked him, so everyone was happy.

Great updates!

I love star wars!!!
That parade looks like so much fun!
My son and I would love to go to Star Wars weekends.:goodvibes
But, My daughter informed me the other day that she never wants to go to Disney in the summer.
She doesn't like the heat. :sad2:

Sci-Fi looks fun!!! We will be eating there in Sept!!!

good to know! i was thinking about getting this next time, but now i know better!

One of the survey guys came by to talk to them.

i did three of these last trip! i was thinking (in vain) that maybe it would result in a dream. wishful thinking.

i seem to see this cop every time i'm at DHS and he always says something smart to me when i see him -- move it along......nothing to see here, young lady -- when i'm just walking along minding my own business. i've also seen him holding up a "wanted" sign with a stick figure drawing. :rotfl:

what a sweet memom!!! :goodvibes

Sci Fi is on my list... I want to go there next trip. I was there a long time ago... and I think it would be lots of fun! I so love all your pictures!

great update and pics.

you take the best pics, especially of things most do not and I love it. :)

the street show looked fun.

I think you and I were posting over the top of each other. I'll go to Disney World in the heat and the rain and the snow! I'll go any time!!!

is there any chance I can get one of those ice cream bars?

That ice cream was dripping down into the napkins and onto my fingers before I ever got back to our bench. I'm ready to go back and stand in line for another one if you are!

I thought it was going to be something like cucumber and cantaloupe just on a plate, and you know how I love my fruit, but the fruit was chopped up with onions and had a vinegar dressing on it, and I just didn't care for it. If you like raw onions and vinegar, you might like it. The fries were good.

Jill did two surveys this time, and like you, we never turn them down. Any possibility of having our name in the system more that might result in something positive - we are in!

As for the cop harrassing you --- he knows trouble when he sees it!!!

the street show looked fun.

Thank you again! These particular street guys were pretty funny!

The pic of Gertie the Dino looks like she is eating the palm tree. Cute pics of Brooklynn sleeping. :cutie: Very thoughtful of you to buy her a smaller plushie. I also did a survey last year. I had the same thoughts it could lead to something too. How selfish am I? We went in July back in 04 and it was extreemly HOT! I wished they had a refillable mug system in the parks like at the resort. We bought alot of drinks and ice creams. I have been told by my kids and mom we will avoiding the summer aswell. :disrocks: I just figured out there are more smiles, I feel dumb now.

Precious Brooklyn sleeping in the stroller! :goodvibes

We had ice cream from Gertie's in June and thoroughly enjoyed it -- I  waffle cones!

He Memom -- Some parts of the Jersey shore are like the BW hotel. Especially Cape May. It is beautiful there. I was in Point Pleasant,... more games and rides than anything else.

You are such a good grandma buying Brooklynn a little sulley. I enjoyed your update! I have not been to sci-fi in a long time. I really like it there... the food is just ok though.

The burger was good. the chocolate shake was wonderful!

Great update... my kids love Sci-Fi and the 50's PTC so much that they made me cancel our Fantasmic dinner package so they could eat at those restaurants instead!!!

Hey Memom, I have a question. Do you book a package when you go to DW or do you book things seprately? Also do you buy the dining plan? I want to book our trip soon and I am just wondering how you all do it. Punkin and anyone else can answer this too please. Sorry I don't want to hijack your thread but I am just wondering. Also I will post a picture of my dd later on today so ya'll can see her.

I angled it that way on purpose. I thought it looked cool with her eating the tree. I like to do weird things like that. Sometimes they come out good, and other times they come out just looking weird. :)

Yeah, you pay for the atmosphere more than the food.

We're having breakfast at Cape May on November 30th before we get back on the road home. We've never done it before, so we're looking forward to seeing the characters there. Since it will be my last few Disney minutes until July, there is a slight chance I may drag one of them into the back and steal its costume so no one can find me when it is time to leave.

That's the same wrapping paper I used at Christmas.

And doesn't Drew look absolutely thrilled to be getting a Princess present?!?!?

Great update... my kids love Sci-Fi and the 50's PTC so much that they made me cancel our Fantasmic dinner package so they could eat at those restaurants instead!!!

If they are only doing 2-3 Fantasmic shows a week next summer, we may be booking a dinner package for the first time. So far, we've had no problem ever getting in, but if the cutbacks stay, we'll do it, because we love Fantasmic.

We book things separately. That may not be the best way, but it is the way we do it. We book our rooms far in advance, because I want to be sure we have a room when we want it. We don't do the dining plan because we don't want to be regulated in what we eat. We don't eat a table service every day, and neither Trent nor I drink much of anything but water, so I haven't been convinced yet that it would benefit us. I'd have to look at it all more carefully and figure out what all we were going to order, etc., beforehand, and it just seems easier to me to eat what I want when I want without keeping up with credits. That's my personal opinion. Jill and John considered it for their October trip, and honestly, I'm not sure if they finally decided to get it or not to get it. I'll let her answer.

You can always hijack anything. Everyone can just make themselves at home around here. I like seeing and hearing about all of your families and events and travels (Swans)!

What did Brooklynn see coming down the street?

Block Party Bash.

IMG_0914.jpg

The first time she saw it in March, she didn't.
See it, that is.
She was asleep, and we weren't sitting in a good spot, so we saw a little from afar and just left. We learned from that where we should place ourselves to be able to see it better.

If you have not seen it, this is a very colorful, very active, very LOUD parade.

IMG_0915.jpg

You may recognize this guy.

IMG_0916.jpg

I do not know if he is the same guy who used to sit on top of Toy Story Pizza Planet, but he looks very much like him!

Part parade, part elbow in my way.

IMG_0917.jpg

IMG_0919.jpg

IMG_0920.jpg

Brooklynn's favoritest monster!

IMG_0925.jpg

IMG_0927.jpg

IMG_0928.jpg

Little Boo.

IMG_0929.jpg

Hi, Little Boo!

IMG_0931.jpg

Some monsters have the rhythm.

IMG_0934.jpg

A heart for Brooklynn.

IMG_0935.jpg

Boo looks cute...

IMG_0937.jpg

until you see her whole face close up.

IMG_0938.jpg

Then she looks a bit evil.

Time to leave you in mid-parade, like I so often do. Sorry, but I come in from work and put some things on, and then life calls. I'll go do my real life stuff, and then I'll some back and finish the parade this evening.

Now remember, it is very hot, and you are eating ice cream which is dripping down your waffle cone (waffle cone, Charleston Princess :) ) to your fingers. You are miserable, but happy because you are at the Happiest Place on Earth. Stay right there. I promise not to leave you overnight this time.

Memom, Where were you sitting for the parade that Monsters Inc was the group that stopped in front of you??? They are my DD's favorite Pixar characters...

Boo does look a bit freaky up close :rolleyes1
