A Ten Day Ride on A Magic Camel - Almost Finished Trip Report

She's so cute with her glow things!! Does Jill have my phone number? I hope she enjoys her birthday at DHS, i'll be spending mine at work, but at least on the day after my birthday (which we are renaming, my official celebration day) I will in WDW! With my pin and everything!! I can't wait to be in disney for my birthday!!

It seems that this is one of those things that people really like or really are disgusted by. Just depends on who you are. I respect the opinion of the haters, but we like them. If you don't like them, just scroll quickly through the above picture.

i am a hater. however i don't mind seeing pictures of them. it cracks me up how people on the food porn thread get so disgusted by some things. just don't look at it!

And then
there was

The Dad.

there's always one in the crowd!

Is that how you cuss? I really don't know much about cussing. I didn't even let my kids say 'butt' when they were little. I liked behind or bum better. :)
Maybe those of you who cuss can tell me if I spelled it all right. ;)
I can't even use this guy :lmao: when writing, because of the A in LMAO.

i'll ask my little brother. he's an expert on cussing. i'm not saying i don't but generally speaking i have a pretty clean mouth. when i get frustrated or mad i do tend to have a potty mouth, but i'm generally discreet about it. i will say that i don't mind using this guy :lmao: !!!!

To his defense, since I always want to be fair, The Dad may have really been a good dad in normal life. Maybe he had gotten hold of a bad turkey leg or was having a heat stroke or something else that was altering his good dad status.

or maybe he and/or his wife didn't do their disney research beforehand and were having a miserable time. i can totally see how if you're not prepared for disney world, you can be MISERABLE there. especially if you're just there for your kids and don't feel the "magic" yourself. i tell everyone i know that's going to disney, call me ahead of time and let me help you!!!!! if not you may regret it.

Look how happy she is with her little glow thingies.

IMG_1870.jpg

i love glow thingies too!!!!!!!! i totally need to hang out with brooklynn sometime.

by the way, HOPE YOU HAVE A MAGICAL, WONDERFUL, DREAM-FILLED HAPPY BIRTHDAY TRIP, JILL!!!!!!!! :flower3:

O.K, I am a hater of the turkey leg, but I don't begrudge others who enjoy eating meat off the bone. ;) Sorry you had to listen to "the dad". I think that one trip I was "the mom". My older two NEVER stopped fighting! By the third day in I was ready to go ballistic, so I can feel his pain a little. Now the standing in line thing never got to me though. Duh, you're in Disney! Brooklyn looks super excited with her glowing wrists. I want glowing wrists too!

Making fun of that poor dad, and the cursing that came out of your keyboard....shame...shame.

Awww, Brooklyn looks adorable with her little glow things!!!

Have fun for me Jill and Brooklyn!!!!!!!! Have a wonderful birthday in DHS! I would have been spending my birthday there next week as well!!! Enjoy it for the both of us!:goodvibes

That dad story made me laugh. One of the pharmacists I work with told me about a vacation they had taken to Disney World when his girls were younger. They had been camping on the Disney campgrounds, and the people camping next to them sounded like the same story you told.
Apparently the father, the whole time they were there, would not stop yelling and saying "BE HAPPY! I PAID TOO MUCH FOR THIS" and things of that sort. The kids seemed miserable.

I feel bad for the family in that situation (and the father to some degree). Vacation is supposed to be a time to relax, but it's hard to have fun if you don't really want to be there, or as another poster said, just going for the kids.

Brooklynn is so cute with her glow bracelets. No matter how old you are, glow things are always fun. :thumbsup2

I've actually never had a turkey leg, but I'm willing to try one. It is being added on to my mental "must eat at WDW" list, along with Earl of Sandwich. I am not sure when we'll be going back (my parents want to go "somewhere else"-not sure where) but I'm hoping to be able to take my sister there sometime for a girlie trip. :goodvibes

ETA: Happy early birthday and have a WONDERFUL birthday trip, Jill!!

I hope I never act like that if and when we have children!

Brooklynn is so cute!

I am grossed out by the turkey legs in real life, but they are very Disney to me, so I don't mind pics of them. :thumbsup2

As always another great update MeMom. Sorry about the Dad. It seems there is one of those in every crowd. I do have to say the story made me laugh because my brother makes fun of people who do that. My brother and I have stood together in lots of lines so your story brought me back to my youth. :goodvibes I do miss my family as it has been a year since I have seen my brother sorry I digress. I also want to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY JILL

Great update! I have to admit that I had one of those "The Dad" moments on our first Disney trip. Not that bad though. Just lost my temper for one short moment at Epcot. I guess I just got tired of the whining, but the girls were only four and seven and were on total overload. We decided it was time for a break. Luckily that was the year we were at the BCV with friends so I let everyone else walk back to the room and then enjoyed some quiet time walking around World Showcase. That night ended up being perfectly magical for us. After the girls and DH rested, they decided to walk back over to Epcot. I don't remember if I even had my cell phone with me, but I do know that DH did not call me. We just "magically" ended up running into each other while I was walking over the bridge from France toward the International Gateway (I think that's what it's called - the entrance from the Boardwalk/Beach Club area). We ended up meeting on the bridge and stayed to watch Illuminations from there. I think that's why it's my favorite night time show. It makes me cry every time because I think of that night and how a stressful afternoon turned into a magical night. Just one of the reasons I love Disney so much! Sorry for rambling.

Happy Birthday, Jill! No better place to be on your b-day. We were there for my oldest daughter's birthday in August three years ago and she chose Fantasmic for her birthday night too. Have fun!

Alice

Turkey legs....yum! We have to have one sometime on our trip! They are so good!

Brooklynn looks so cute with her glow bracelets!

Sorry you had a run in with an unhappy Dad. We usually have to take a mid-day break to make DH happy, he does much better with a little rest!

It seems that this is one of those things that people really like or really are disgusted by. Just depends on who you are. I respect the opinion of the haters, but we like them. If you don't like them, just scroll quickly through the above picture.

What?
It's too late for that?!?!
Oops.

I've said it before, but I have to say it again....I love your sense of humor!
And the picture of Brooklyn getting excited for Fantasmic is adorable :cutie:

We saw the same Disney on Ice show not long after you!

I loved your animal kingdom lodge photos. So many amazing details. I would love to stay there. I would definately love to take Hannah there.

Your tot photo with your camera in front of you is too funny. :lmao:

I know my kids spent hours making tents all over the house with sheets, and they had great fun with that.

We cut shapes in sandwiches with cookie cutters.

We made up songs.
Well, I made up songs, and they went along with me.

When they had chickenpox, I made chickenpox cakes - round cakes with faces drawn on with their hair and eye colors and lots of little red dots all over them.

We'd have movie nights and just all pull out the sleeping bags and blankets and pile up on the floor and watch Disney movies until everyone had fallen asleep.

We'd decorate the windows and doors at Halloween and Christmas and Easter.

We made snowmen and dressed them up and watched them fade away after a day or two, since we don't get much snow around here.

On Thanksgiving Day, we watched the parade together and ate cinnamon rolls, made pinecone turkeys, and Jill made sweet little name cards out of construction paper.

You don't have to have much money or talent to be happy with kids.
I know that to be a fact, because I had neither talent nor money!

Sounds like lots of fun! Sounds like you still have a lot of fun!

Pleeeease! I'd rather read a book upside down and backwards than go out with you, Gaston!

Cogsworth: We're having a great time!

Lumiere: Let me shed some light on this. You better make the best of this opportunity, mister, because not too many smart, great-looking girls come out here in these deep, dark, deserted woods to deal with a hairy ape like you.
All: Yeah, what he said!

Okay, that may not be exactly the way the show played out.

Sulley fussed at me because I had not made it back in time and he had had to sit through the show treatless!

IMG_1813.jpg

We like to get the popcorn buckets and mugs as souvenirs. We use the buckets for crayons and toys and assorted other things.
We use the mugs to drink from....duh.

I love your version of b&tb. :rotfl2:

Poor Sulley.

We just brought home a popcorn bucket and I am looking forward to using it at home, probably for popcorn!

The streets of Hollywood look cool at night.

IMG_1854.jpg

They really do.

On a side note:Jill has chosen to be in Hollywood Studios on her birthday evening to eat at Toy Story Pizza Planet and see Fantasmic, so Sunday night, she'll be looking up at this.

Have a Happy Birthday Jill, and a great trip!

He needed some of Brooklynn's happiness.

Look how happy she is with her little glow thingies.

IMG_1870.jpg

She does look happy!!! And ready to enjoy the show!

Hi MeMom,

So my son's birthday wasn't as elaboratly themed as your parties but I thought I would share the cake I made for him. I was nervous when he told me he wanted a Mater cake but I was pretty pleased with how it turned out.

054.jpg

Your cake turned out great!

Checking in very quickly to say k_reile has her new baby boy, Caleb, at home with her, and all are doing fine. She reports Caleb had jaundice and needed a little extra time in the hospital, but they're home now. He is a healthy 9 pounds, and she will be posting pictures when she gets the time.

Congratulations!!!

She's so cute with her glow things!! Does Jill have my phone number? With my pin and everything!! I can't wait to be in disney for my birthday!!

I'm giving it to her tonight. The last couple of times I've talked to her, she's been in the car and couldn't write it down. She'll have it safely in her phone by the time she leaves.

Happiness to both of you for getting to make a birthday trip! I'll be there on mine in July, too!

or maybe he and/or his wife didn't do their disney research beforehand and were having a miserable time. i can totally see how if you're not prepared for disney world, you can be MISERABLE there. especially if you're just there for your kids and don't feel the "magic" yourself. i tell everyone i know that's going to disney, call me ahead of time and let me help you!!!!! if not you may regret it.

Yeah, maybe it was just a really bad day. I hope so. I know for some people Disney World is just not their thing. He might have been a completely different guy if had been out on a fishing boat or skiing or playing video games or whatever it is that makes him happy.

I'm sure Brooklynn would enjoy hanging out. She fell down a flight of stairs at the dogsitter's house last night, but Jill says she's okay. She said it was pretty scary to watch her tumbling down twenty hardwood steps. They watched her carefully during the night and called the doctor this morning, just to be sure they were doing the right thing before they got on their plane tomorrow, but she says she seems to be fine.

That Dad -- whew! Sounds like one of a kind, that's for sure!

Brooklyn is too cute with her glow thingies!

She loved her cheapie glow toys! When she gets bigger, I'm sure there will be a time that we'll get her one of the ones they sell in the crowds, just for the thrill of it, but for now, she's good with the cheap stuff.

O.K, I am a hater of the turkey leg, but I don't begrudge others who enjoy eating meat off the bone. ;) Sorry you had to listen to "the dad". I think that one trip I was "the mom". Brooklyn looks super excited with her glowing wrists. I want glowing wrists too!

I wonder if someone came on here and wrote about you?!?!? ;)
There was this mean old woman blah, blah, blah......

Making fun of that poor dad, and the cursing that came out of your keyboard....shame...shame.

You didn't think that could come out of an innocent little keyboard like mine, I know.
I still don't know if I spelled it right! :rotfl:

Awww, Brooklyn looks adorable with her little glow things!!!

Have fun for me Jill and Brooklyn!!!!!!!! Have a wonderful birthday in DHS! I would have been spending my birthday there next week as well!!! Enjoy it for the both of us!:goodvibes

I wish you guys could have met. Maybe on a future trip. :)

Everyone has their own idea of a nice vacation, too. If you made me go on a golfing trip or to a racetrack, I would be miserable. I would hope I could take it nicely for the good of the group and not be a grouch, but I would probably be miserable.

Brooklynn is so cute with her glow bracelets. No matter how old you are, glow things are always fun. :thumbsup2

I definitely hope a girl trip happens for you. They are so fun!!!

I hope I never act like that if and when we have children!

Brooklynn is so cute!

I don't think you will ever be like that guy was on that night. Like I said, I'm not trying to be mean, but he really did need some guidance on his coping skills that night.

We'll remember to have our turkey legs eaten by the time we meet up with you in November. :)

It's good to come to this forum and have a laugh.

Ramble on! I love hearing your personal Disney stories.

Turkey legs....yum! We have to have one sometime on our trip! They are so good!

Brooklynn looks so cute with her glow bracelets!

Sorry you had a run in with an unhappy Dad. We usually have to take a mid-day break to make DH happy, he does much better with a little rest!

We think they're so good, too.

Mid-day breaks are nice, and we have made good use of many of them. Makes for a refreshed soul for the evening.

I've said it before, but I have to say it again....I love your sense of humor!
And the picture of Brooklyn getting excited for Fantasmic is adorable :cutie:

She'll be glowing again Sunday night for her Mommy's birthday!

Thanks for all the birthday wishes for Jill. I don't know if she'll get on the computer today, so I'll send her your greetings. She had a doctor's appointment today - the baby is all good - and she has a lot of things to do to get ready, as you all well know.

It is Finally Friday, as we call Fridays in the teaching world. This has been a relatively good week, with the exception of one of my students being suspended for behavior issues throughout the building and on the bus. These kids have so many needs. We have some really sweet, sweet kids who get lost in the shuffle sometimes, and I feel sorry for them. When you get them one on one, even the ones with serious issues are usually a pleasure to be around. It is a mission to help them, and I hope I am doing some good somewhere along the way. There is so much more to it than the actual dispensing of information here at our school. It does make us sad that kids who are so young already have so many issues and so many strikes against them.

Anyway, it's been a decent week, and I am thankful for that,
and for my weekend,
and for my sons,
and for my daughter who is getting to spend her birthday in her favorite place with her family.

Looks like Thankful Thursday spilled over into Friday.

Have a good weekend, all!

That's it for this morning. Have a good Wednesday! The weather is getting a little cooler here in the mid-state, so the mornings are very pleasant to wake up to.

Its getting cold up here too. I would love to hang out with Brooklynn and the the whole gang one day too. Least Grumpy Dad didnt ruin everyone's happiness, especially not brooklynn's.

 Have a safe and wonderful birthday trip Jill!

Hey MeMom
What age group do you work with? Do you work with special needs kids or a regular classroom?
I'm sure you're great... I was just curious.:)

She fell down a flight of stairs at the dogsitter's house last night, but Jill says she's okay. She said it was pretty scary to watch her tumbling down twenty hardwood steps. They watched her carefully during the night and called the doctor this morning, just to be sure they were doing the right thing before they got on their plane tomorrow, but she says she seems to be fine.

oh, poor baby!!! i hope she's not too banged up. that's one thing i'm not looking forward to as a parent - seeing my kid get hurt! but it's part of being an active little kid!

Great update MeMom! I always read those stories about parents with a sense of humor but with a little fear that it might be me or DH I'm reading about ;) I'm positive we were never as bad as that Dad but I know I lost the Disney magic once or twice

Your sense of humor and comments about swearing had me :lmao: (If only it were that easy to make it go away!!)

How long will the brat...I mean Jill be gone on this trip? I'm sure you have said before but when is the new arrival expected?

oh, poor baby!!! i hope she's not too banged up. that's one thing i'm not looking forward to as a parent - seeing my kid get hurt! but it's part of being an active little kid!

I was just thinking today about how tomorrow is the 4 year anniversary of my little guys big surgery (heart defect repair when he was 2 weeks old). I was thinking about how stressed out I was sitting in his hospital room looking at his tiny sedated body hooked up to dozens of monitors and IV's and praying for him to hang on to life. You would never know today watching him run around doing all the rough and tumble boy things that he is the same kid.

Sorry OT I know, you just got me thinking again.

speaking of little baby boys...I'm anxious to hear how Caleb is doing
