A Ten Day Ride on A Magic Camel - Almost Finished Trip Report

Checking in very quickly to say k_reile has her new baby boy, Caleb, at home with her, and all are doing fine. She reports Caleb had jaundice and needed a little extra time in the hospital, but they're home now. He is a healthy 9 pounds, and she will be posting pictures when she gets the time.

Congratulations to you all!!!

I think Caleb is worthy of three dancing bananas - one for mom, one for dad, and one for him.

Get plenty of rest, and take care of yourself. We'll look forward to seeing him soon.

Congratulations K_reile!

Welcome Caleb!

:woohoo:  :woohoo:  :woohoo:  :woohoo:

Prayers to you and your family. Please thank your husband for sacrificing so much to make sure we are protected.
I will be praying for you and your family, too. Please thank him for me as well!

Thank you all for your prayers. He actually isnt in the Army anymore. He was a soldier for 12 years but this time he is going as a contractor supporting the military. I just got back from dropping him at the airport. Lots of tears and lots of hugs. He should be landing in Doha, Qatar sometime tomorrow afternoon (13 hour flight :scared1: ) then 4 days after that he will take another flight to Baghdad. Im sure I will spending lots of time here with MeMom and Jill hearing tales of everyone favorite place on Earth!:cloud9:

I'm impressed you could carry all those goodies.

Oh, the talents that come out in us when we're in that magical place!

Drink and Snacks in hand you still managed to get great pictures!!
I love your version of the story...too funny!!

I was pleased with the camera. I did get pretty decent pictures, considering I was standing all the way in the back.

Your version of Beauty and the Beast was cracking me up! I think Gaston would pair up nicely with a dancing cupcake!

I have to admit Sulley does look a little disgruntled.

Maybe I could be a writer for the next show?!?!

I like your version of BATB.

It comes from a long line of 'cracked tales' I have written!

Now I haven't seen Beauty and the Beast in a very, very long time, but I remember the story line just slighty different...

It's time for you to get back and see it again!

every time i see chip i will always remember the time he fell on stage and couldn't get up and i almost peed my pants laughing. chip holds a special place in my heart. :lovestruc
different!

nooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! say it ain't so! don't get me wrong - aladdin's in my top 5. but i LOVE this show!!!!!!! now i MUST see it in december in case it goes away forever!

I saw a video of Chip falling. Was it yours, or maybe I just saw it on youtube from someone else?

There's a thread going on right now on the Theme Parks Board about Beauty and the Beast. It was a rumor for a while, then I didn't hear about it for a while, and now they're talking about it again. Who knows?!?! I guess we'll just wait and see.

Great pictures and even greater story of Beauty and the Beast! What a great way to end a Sunday evening! Thanks for the laugh.
Cathy

You are welcome. It's nice to come on the Disboards and have a little fun. It's a nice escape from reality - work, paying bills, etc.

Oh Dawn will just DIE!!! :scared1: This is her very favorite and we didn't get to it this trip

I think we have only missed it on one trip. I think it would be kind of nice if they had different shows on different days - like M-W-F they'd do Beauty & Beast, and T-Th they'd do Aladdin or Tarzan or whatever Disney movies would make good shows, and then weekends do another. I like shows, so seeing 2-3 different ones in one trip would be something I'd enjoy.

great update and pics.

I enjoy Beauty. So sad 4 for a dollar is not there anymore, I liked them.

I want a cup. My goal for December. :rotfl2:

Yes, that is sad about them. I hope they found jobs in other Disney shows. It was being said that they were offered tryouts for other shows in the parks. And I guess there would be no reason they won't continue singing together for their CDs and out at other venues.

The cups make useful souvenirs. I think they're $4.50, maybe, and they're fun Disney reminders when you get back home.

Fantastic take on the show. Don't you just love doing that? It's like watching Mystery Science Theater. (I think that's the name of the show) Or like watching an old Japanese ninja movie with english voice overs. Those shoes were TOO cute! I couldn't wear them to walk all over Disney, but I have to say that wedges are easier and more comfortable to walk in than regular heels. Can't wait to see Dawn and Erica's photos of shoe.

I used to think that was so amusing when I was a kid. I haven't seen a movie like that in years!

I'm sure Erica and Dawn will have a lot of interesting pictures to show us. If you haven't seen Erica's SSE picture, you need to rush over there now. It's quite....um, interesting.

No, it's just funny, actually.

BATB Is my Faorite Disney Movie. I can still recite the entire movie. The show on Broadway was fantastic. I also love the one at DHS.. I only was able to see it once though b/c I am obsessed with the thrill rides.
Those woman's shoew are too funny.. I don't understand how people can wear platform sandals when they are going to be walking all day... to each his own.
Happy Birthday Jill

I'd love to see the one on Broadway. Maybe we can all go see it, and Scott can house us for the weekend! :)
Get out those sleeping bags, Scott!!!

Jill calls me numerous times a day to remind me where she will be on her birthday. I'm not going to answer my phone for her any more this week!!!

Hi MeMom and crew! Ive been away for a few days...hubby didnt get his visa in time for his flight and is still in the states. We spent 5 extra days together! I feel so blessed!:lovestruc He will be on his way to Iraq tomorrow night. I loved the update and the pics! Looking forward to the next chapter!

Glad you got those extra days! I hate it when people we love have to be away from us.

she would understand if she checked out the boards herself

im sure i'll get my share of snow this year...i'll make one for you

i loved ur version of Beauty and the Beast. If they replace it with Aladdin would it still be a show?

I should probably come with a warning bumper sticker when I'm at Disney World.
Something like
STOPS AT ALL INTERSECTIONS (and maybe a few hundred other places.) .
I'm pretty sure my bumper is wide enough for a sticker like that, too.

I'm sure you will get tons of snow way up there!

Any show they put in will be very good, I would imagine.

I love your version of Beauty and the Beast. LOL!! We have our popcorn buckets still too and love to eat popcorn out of them at home. Reminds us of Disney for sure!

It is a nice reminder of your trips. I have them at school for pencils, crayons, and colored pencils up on the front table by the sharpener. The kids love them, and I always have my secret, subtle Disney fix right at hand.

Prayers to you and your family. Please thank your husband for sacrificing so much to make sure we are protected.

Hopefully, her Dis friends can help her pass the time with some good pictures and a little laughter.

Glad you got to spend time with Brooklynn this past weekend! Did you ever watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Trick-or-Treat? That is a current fave at our house! So much so, that I can now sing all the songs and I had never seen the show before! Ha!

We were without internet for almost 3 days....I was having DIS withdrawals, but I am now caught up!

Yes, we watched that first, then two rounds of PanPan, and so on. She can sing about every song on every video.

It is amazing how addicted we are to the internet. I am on it a lot for school, and when it's down and I can't immediately pull up something that I want to show the kids, it is frustrating. Then I am just reminded of how lucky we are to have it in the first place.

And I love all the little details you pick up on that I have never noticed. Like the parking lot in the middle of DHS that you can see from the top of TOT! Weird!

I would love to make a trip just to take pictures of the thousands of little weird things there are to notice. I like looking at the signs and the off the wall things.

I will be praying for you and your family, too. Please thank him for me as well!

I also have a picture of someone's unwise shoe choice! I only got one picture, and I only really noticed it because I was sitting down at the bus stop at Pop. I am definitely not a fancy shoe kind of girl, especially at Disney!

I'm tennis shoes and slide-ons all the way when in Disney World.

I would never where those, but she'll have some nice calf muscles after a long day at the parks. I saw a lady one time wearing stilettos around Magic Kingdom.

Hopefully/Maybe she was just going to go to dinner or something and not just walk around a lot. However, nice calf muscles does sound like a good reward for some of the torture.

Congratulations K_reile!

Welcome Caleb!

She'll be posting pictures when she gets a chance. I'm sure she is very tired, right now. I remember those precious days of bringing home a newborn. Exciting, tiring, and wonderful!

Thank you all for your prayers. He actually isnt in the Army anymore. He was a soldier for 12 years but this time he is going as a contractor supporting the military. I just got back from dropping him at the airport. Lots of tears and lots of hugs. A 13 hour flight - yuck!
We hope you will keep hanging around here. We'll try to make your stay enjoyable!

Up where they run,
Up where they stay all day in the sun....

I think I saw almost the exact same ones on TCKK's report this week.

And they lived happily ever after, a normal little family -
the boy, the girl, the dog...
and the Jamaican sea creature.

(His full name - Horatio Thelonious Ignacious Crustaceous Sebastian.
Check Wikipedia to see if it ain't so.)

Back outside, a picture with Pooh, Tigger, and Daahby.

IMG_1840.jpg

Then we went over to the art store, where I finally found the picture I had been wanting for months.

IMG_1842.jpg

I wanted this for my den, and I think it is so neat because it has all the parks on the pails. Not only that, it still has the MGM bucket, so I knew that it was a collector's item and a keeper!

However, they didn't have any to sell. They had the one on display, and they could not sell it. They said that the picture was no longer being printed, but that there would be a new one with the Hollywood Studios pail in the future. I was sad to hear that, because that's the number one souvenir I wanted from this trip.

I saw it at another store and heard the same speech from CMs there. So, in the end, I had to be satisfied with taking pictures of the pictures. I'll probably buy the new one when it comes out. They're not expensive - they're just posters, so they're about twenty dollars.

That's it for this morning. Have a good Wednesday! The weather is getting a little cooler here in the mid-state, so the mornings are very pleasant to wake up to.

I love that picture too!!! So sad that they wouldn't sell it to you----I wonder if any will pop up on ebay?????? Hmmmmmm????

MeMom and MegansMom -

The artist of that print is David Doss. I purchased that very print last Dec. He had a booth also at the Epcot Flower & Garden Show in May.

Ocasionally you will see his prints on eBay. However to see a broader selection, check his web site.

http://www.davidedoss.com/

just a post script - the print is called 'Summer Magic" and per his web site Doss has a few of the smaller size available.

Hope you can get one.

Oh, I love that painting! I've never seen that before. I see so many new things through your pictures, MeMom! I hope you can find the MGM one somewhere.

The mornings are getting much cooler here too. Walks with the dogs in the mornings are so much more pleasant.

fantastic pics.

I love that poster. I want one but I think I want it with DHS name. I was never a fan of the MGM name being there.

I agree about that painting, I saw it in the NYC store and loved it so I have a postcard version of it!

I've looked, but they didn't have it. I'm okay with what I have, though, because I took pictures so close that you can't even see the frame. It just looks like it's a picture of its own, so it's all good.

Thanks for the input. I actually had already looked at that site, and he has some other things I like, too. I would definitely like to visit his display and Flower and Garden Festival!

I think I'm going to wait for the new one to come out and get the poster of that. They said he was going to do an updated version with the Hollywood Studios pail, so whenever you see it come out, please let me know, because I will be purchasing it in poster form.

It is a beautiful morning here in Tennessee. I'm in my classroom listening to Disney music. Every day is one day closer to Thanksgiving break, which means one day closer to our trip!

fantastic pics.

I love that poster. I want one but I think I want it with DHS name. I was never a fan of the MGM name being there.

I think I'm going to do the same, Scott, but I was okay with MGM. Whatever they call it, as long as they let me in, I'm happy!

I thought the same thing when I saw your picture!!

I know, that was pretty funny. I was thinking, "Did I put pictures on her report?", and then I realized we were just copycats! :)

I agree about that painting, I saw it in the NYC store and loved it so I have a postcard version of it!

Maybe I could get Scott to check the next time he happens to visit World of Disney to see if they still have them. I'll take one in postcard size, because that'll be inexpensive, but I think I'll wait on the poster-sized one for when the new one comes out.

Does World of Disney in NYC work like Disney World Merchandising? If I just call and tell them what I want, will they send it? That's how I got my calendars.

P.S. I'm looking forward to a Jill/Brooklynn/Nicole Dis meet happening sometime next week!

**************************

Now, I'm not really officially celebrating anything until Jill returns from her birthday trip, because I don't want to overlook that in any way, but it is October, and as soon as she gets back, I'm going to be really plugging it, because....

WE GO TO DISNEY WORLD NEXT MONTH!

Mickey ::MickeyMo is cooking our turkey, and we're looking very forward to that!

For now, though, we all have to be excited for Jill's birthday :cake: trip, since she leaves on Saturday.

She'll be eating supper at Whispering Canyon, and I'll be eating in

my Wilderness Lodge

kitchen.

Enjoy your last day at work, Jill, if you read this. In two days - count 'em 2 - you'll be flying away to Halloween and birthday fun!

I love that print MeMom. What a bummer that they didn't have any to sell. You would think there was one laying around in storage somewhere in WDW. Have you checked Ebay perhaps? I bought a MGM Christmas ornament online at Ebay after they changed the park's name.

I just wanted to peek in and say that I'm reading and enjoying!! Just a lurker until now :cool1:
My favorite trippies are the ones with oodles of pictures... and this one has oodles and oodles!!!
Thanks for taking the time to give us a little taste of the magic :cloud9: I can't wait to read more!

Jill & Brooklynn princess: have an awesome trip, whose luckier than you to have a birthday at Disney :cool1:

Happy Birthday

The streets of Hollywood look cool at night.

Did you notice the sign?
No problem. I'll shop with anybody - star or not!

You can buy merchandise that tells about your personality, if you'd like.

Did you find yours?

A nighttime view of one of our favorite rides.

IMG_1860.jpg

The plan for the rest of the evening was to get turkey legs and watch Fantasmic. That's pretty much what happened.

Keep the pretty much in mind, because there could have been more or there could have been less.

We will see.

What shall we have?

IMG_1862.jpg

How about one of these?

IMG_1863.jpg

It seems that this is one of those things that people really like or really are disgusted by. Just depends on who you are. I respect the opinion of the haters, but we like them. If you don't like them, just scroll quickly through the above picture.

What?
It's too late for that?!?!
Oops.

Here's our feast.

IMG_1864.jpg

Nutrition at its finest.

We went ahead and got near where the line started and just sat on the rock wall to eat.

On a side note:Jill has chosen to be in Hollywood Studios on her birthday evening to eat at Toy Story Pizza Planet and see Fantasmic, so Sunday night, she'll be looking up at this.

IMG_1866.jpg

(Brat.)

The wait for Fantasmic was interesting. We were right up at the front, maybe the third layer of people back. When we were let in, some people rushed, but most just walked normally. We tried to stay as far to the right as possible, as that is what you are supposed to do if you have a stroller with you.

We made the walk to the the next stopping point, and the crowd stilled, standing bumper to bumper in the heat. 99.9% of the people were just fine. There was an occasional wail of a small child, quickly hushed by a food item, a light-up toy, or a pacifier. No one was bothered by that.

People stood talking to their own groups.
Some began, as you tend to do in Disney World more than any other place I know of, to talk to other groups.
Strangers - enjoying new company - sharing experiences of their present and past Disney trips and such.

And then
there was

The Dad.

The kind that spends a large amount of currency to bring his family to Disney World...

and then spends the entire trip reminding them of how @#$%^ much currency he spent....

and they better @$#% well appreciate it.

Is that how you cuss? I really don't know much about cussing. I didn't even let my kids say 'butt' when they were little. I liked behind or bum better. :)
Maybe those of you who cuss can tell me if I spelled it all right. ;)
I can't even use this guy :lmao: when writing, because of the A in LMAO.

Back to The Dad.
He was, to say the least, not a happy camper.
Or in this case, not a happy Fantasmic waiter-in-liner-person.

He was hot. We know that, because he told his kids and all of us.
He was tired. He told his kids and us.
He had a sore thumb. There is a reason that we know that. It is much like the reasons we knew he was hot and tired.

It started with general griping. Don't do this and don't do that and it's hot and how much longer and why the h#$% don't they let us up farther and such.

At some point during the wait, The Dad's four year old son hit the sore thumb.
"AWWWW!!!! THAT'S MY SORE THUMB! YOU HIT MY SORE THUMB!"
"Calm down."
"WELL, HOW WOULD YOU LIKE IT IF SOMEBODY HIT YOUR SORE THUMB?"
"He's four. He didn't mean to."

There were several more sentences that included the word THUMB.

The rest of the time he was standing there, he was GRIPING, in that volume, about one thing and then another. It was both sad and funny at the same time. Sad for his kids, but you had to just chuckle at the fool he was making of himself.

The couple standing next to me started snickering. The guy said he was sure glad he wasn't one of that guy's kids. Then he started doing little spoofs of the guy. He was saying it low enough that only those right around us could hear. He was too scared of the guy to chance saying it loud enough for him to hear.

Luckily, just seconds before the crowd surely would have begun holding hands and singing "Let There Be Peace on Earth" or "Kumbayah" or something else that would have offset the negative vibes hovering around us...

and before the sore thumb could suffer any more damage in the crowd,
we were moving.

The entire crowd was happy to be moving and happy that they were not going home with The Dad.

To his defense, since I always want to be fair, The Dad may have really been a good dad in normal life. Maybe he had gotten hold of a bad turkey leg or was having a heat stroke or something else that was altering his good dad status. All I know is, I will hope that he is not always like that, for the wife and kids' sakes.

He needed some of Brooklynn's happiness.

Look how happy she is with her little glow thingies.
