A tale of two meals

We've only done one sit down meal during this trip and it was a disappointment. I had hoped to like breakfast at the Kona Cafe as much as I liked dinner during a previous visit. I had tonga toast and it was ok - but way too sugary for me, and there was too much banana making it mushy in the middle. I came away wishing I had eaten some protein and way less sugar.

I did, however, have a great meal tonight - the beef sub at Beaches & Cream. It was kind of like a Philly Cheese Steak. I had it without the peppers. It's simple, but it really hit the spot - not too heavy or fatty, but tasty. I got it with fruit and they bring a small dish of beef juice. That's something I'll come back for.

Agree 100% on the tonga toast...we tried it a few years ago at the Poly counter service & was so sweet that three of us could not finish one serving (and something about the hot mushy banana was not good...we love fresh bananas...love banana bread & muffins. But hot mushy, not so much.) But we love the Big Kahuna breakfast at Kona. Besides all the protein you could wish for, it comes with macadamia nut pancakes topped with crushed pineapple. Now that's good. And not so sweet.

Good to know about the Philly cheese steak...I've always hesitated going to Beaches & Cream and paying table service credit for a burger. But for a good philly cheese steak: well that my get me into Beaches & Cream.:thumbsup2

I have breakfast at Kona this coming Monday and I will not be ordering Tonga Toast - learned that lesson long ago.
