A Tale of [family madness in] Two Cities - Final Thoughts & PTR Link!

Oh-WOW---you really are back, and I've missed two super-sized updates!

Henry is getting so big---He's losing that little baby look!

I'm not sure how all those people were at AK that day. We were at Epcot, and I could have sworn all the people were there!

Geez Brook, I had missed the previous updates so what a wonderful visit to AK this morning (although I think it was easier for me sitting in my PJ's and drinking coffee than it was for you to brave the cold and those crowds!!) Still, to manage both shows, the safari and EE is a pretty good day!

Wow - did that park empty out! Sounds like a late night in the MK coming up - something I've always wanted to do, but haven't really had the chance. Although we've stayed still about midnight, I want to go one night when it's open really really late!

Thanks for the advice about the wheelchair/scooter. We'll have a car, so we could break the scooter down. I'm just not sure about all the pushing of the chair we'd have to do. May have to talk to DH about that and see if it's even an option. Although, if my dad wanted to walk a while, he could just get out of the chair and push it. Maybe it is a better idea. :confused3

It really did empty out! We were pleasantly surprised. Late night at MK is a lot of fun, if I remember correctly it was open until 3:00 am and then would re-open at 7:00 am!

That was a big benefit of the push chair with Poppa - he needed to stretch his legs sometimes and would opt to walk. Usually then someone would take a turn getting pushed...even Henry. So, if anything someone else could ride the scooter while your dad walked - it's kind of a nice break for the walkers!

AK at night - such a rare sight! :goodvibes This is one of the advantages of crowded season - during low season you have to make it to EEMH otherwise AK closes before sunset...

The PJ is very cute! Is Henry going for a trendy hairstyle or did you just not have time to take him to get a hair cut? ;) Which reminds me: I really like your current haircut. The short hair looks very elegant! :thumbsup2

Also thanks for the Kidani pictures. Once again, they show how much talent you have in taking wonderful pictures! :goodvibes

I love AK at night! There really isn't much to do, but it's such a rare event I love to just be there!

:rotfl: I knew someone would ask about his crazy hair in that picture--it was a mess so it looks even worse than it was. I ALMOST posted "We got him a haircut!" too! :goodvibes His hair was very long, but he preferred it that way-each time we asked him about a haircut he would say "No, I like it long!" we had it trimmed back in Minnesota and he BAWLED the entire time. So I put it off for a while, and it's been in the 90s here in NYC, so we had to get it cut - he was MORE than willing this time! I kinda like it longish, but the really short cut he has now is just better for the summer.

Thank you for the compliment on my hair! I am loving it short, it's so, so easy - I'm ready in 30 minutes for the day and it's so much cooler for the summer.

Your welcome for the Kidani pictures! It's such a beautiful and unique resort.

Once again I love the pictures of AKL...such a gorgeous place!!

Henry looks so cute in his Buzz Lightyear pjs and he is growing up so fast Brook!!!!! He is becoming a little man!

I know! :sad2: It's unreal how fast he's growing up. New words, big sentences, new skills are mastered every single day.

Animal Kingdom looks so cool at night!! Fun!!

I love Henry's pjs. I can't believe how BIG he's getting. Wow. Tell him to slow down. ;)

I do, every single day. I'll tell him you agree with me, 2 against 1! ;)

I always skipped Nemo for FOTLK before March. I won't now. I'll do both!

They are both so great, aren't they? They are such different shows, it's a toss up as to which one I'd rather see!

You didn't answer my question though. Can I still call him Dut Dut? ;)

 I remember reading your question - sorry I missed it. Oh yes, you can call him Dut Dut! I don't mind one bit - it's so cute! He still hasn't lost his word for motorcycle, which is bamo. Someday I know that one will go too. :guilty:

Timon's my guy! Happy that Henry enjoyed him :)

Timon came close a few times to wave at Henry, it was really fun!

Great update. I don't know if I already said it but I am enjoying all the pictures of Kidani. We are hoping to stay there next year in a 2 BR Villa. How did the 2 BR Vila work out for you?

EE sounds like fun at night and will have to try it sometime. Looking forward to seeing how the night at MK was and if you ended up with your corn dog nuggets.

We loved the 2 BR Villa! It was incredibly spacious - and while we didn't really use the 3rd bathroom, it did come in handy a couple times. It's very nice that the balcony extends all the way across the mater and the living room too. It's a great resort! I do wish it had a counter service and a slightly larger selection of "quick foods" in the gift shop, but otherwise it's fantastic.

Absolutely gorgeous pics from around the resort! :lovestruc

That's so awesome that you were able to see FOTLK and ride EE in the dark! It's amazing how much the park emptied out.

I really hope you get your corn dog nuggets!

EE in the dark is like nothing else...you can't even see the track! I loved it!

Glad crowds were a tad lighter for you guys!!

Will you get corn dog nuggets this trip! :confused3 You have to!!!

Wasn't TS3 the best! I loved it! I also am a fellow basketcase. ;)

Corn dog nuggets...we'll see! ;) (I could SO go for some right now!)

TS3 was awesome! I truly did not expect to get that wrapped up in the movie, but they really hit it-good for every age. I want to go see it again!

Oh, I love your little photo tour of Kidani especially the rocking chair detail shot!

Glad the crowds were much more manageable at Animal Kingdom when you returned! We have never ridden Everest at night -- I can only imagine how intense that must be!

Henry's new Buzz pajamas are very cute!

I thought you might like that detail! :goodvibes Those chairs are such a nice touch to the resort, I enjoyed sitting in one soaking up the savannah and the sun.

EE at night is just nuts...you can't hardly see the track, so unless you know the ride by heart, you have no idea where you will turn or drop! :scared1: The view at the top is beautiful though with everything dark and the Tree of Life all it up.

He was very excited about the Buzz jammies! He's just hooked on Toy Story lately - even Cars has taken a back seat.

I'm glad your family got to see a couple of good shows at AK, at least! I loved watching your FOTLK videos, it's almost as good as actually being there! Can you believe I've never done EE? I've either been pregnant, or alone with David every time. :sad2: I'm hoping to be able to go in September.

Love the Buzz pajamas! We are very into Buzz at our house right now too. I hear a lot of "to infinity and beyond!" as well as "don't touch my Buzz Lightyear buttons" It's so funny what they get obsessed with!

We loved TS3 too, I think David spent half of it in my lap though. I didn't expect it to be quite as scary as it was. I forgot tissues- boy was that a mistake!

Oh! I hope you can get to ride EE this time! It's a fantastic ride! It never fails to make me scream and surprise me.

"Don't touch my Buzz Lightyear buttons." :lmao: That's cute! It is funny what they get obsessed with. Henry was SO into Cars, but now hardly gets excited at the sight of McQueen!

I didn't expect TS3 to have scary parts either - thankfully they were over quick! I'm glad we didn't do the 3D otherwise Henry would have been crying I'm sure.

You take really nice photos Brook. AKL has never really appealed to me until lately when I am seeing some of the most gorgeous photos on the TRs I am reading. I'm glad the park cleared out some and you were able to get two of the most wonderful things about Animal Kingdom done. What a great evening! :)

Thank you! I really like AKL because it's darker and seems calmer and cooler. We've only done AKL, WL and CSR (and one night at Pop), so if we are able to get the BW for all our nights in September it will be a real change in atmosphere. I think Joe is more partial to the beachy look. I don't think I'd mind to stay at any of the resorts though...;) :rolleyes1

So has Buzz and Toy Story 3 taken the top spot over Lightening McQueen and Cars for Henry?

Also, do you guys plan on getting his hair cut again at Disney?

Yep! Buzz and Toy Story rule our home! Monsters Inc is close behind - but I think that's only because we don't have a digital copy of Toy Story for the iPad, which Henry often uses to watch his movies. He hasn't watched Cars in quite a while and even yesterday we were at a store and a pack of McQueen stickers dangled right in front of him and he completely ignored them! He still plays with the toys, but isn't quite the die hard he once was. He has switched his request for his birthday cake from Cars to Buzz as well. I have a feeling when Cars 2 comes around we'll be back to that though! :goodvibes

I thought about getting his haircut there, but he was so desperate for one, I didn't want to make him suffer through the summer with such long hair. It was REALLY long this time! Maybe if it's long enough again in September we'll do another cut, they do such a great job there and it's fun!

I'm still so bummed that we didn't get to ride EE in January!! No fair! I love the pictures of you guys all bundled up! You look like we did in January!

All your Kidani pics are fabulous! I LOVE it there so much!!!

It was SO cold! The best day weather wise was NYE-which worked out well because I sat on a beach for 5 hours!

So glad the crowds had thinned out by the time you guys got back to AK! I've never ridden EE at night, I bet that is intense!

Cute pic of Henry in his Buzz jammies, he looks so much more grown up than he did in December! It's amazing how quickly they change isn't it?

It is really intense! And I love it. :goodvibes

Yes! It is...there are some days I swear he grows up right in front of me. I can't believe he's going to be 3 in just 2 months.

Ya for EE at night. I hope to be there in the dark sometime. Love the new Jammies
Yes I took Claire and a friend to see TS3. During that intense moment.. I had Claire on one knee and the friend on the other. And when the yall held hand to accept their fate, the tears were streaming down my face. Same with the end. It was a major tear jerker.

:rotfl: that's so cute about having Claire on one side and her friend on the other! It was a pretty intense moment!

It really was a tear jerker...when I watch it again I'm going to make sure to have some tissues near by!

Oh-WOW---you really are back, and I've missed two super-sized updates!

Henry is getting so big---He's losing that little baby look!

I'm not sure how all those people were at AK that day. We were at Epcot, and I could have sworn all the people were there!

I'm back!!!! :dance3: I feel like I have so much more time here - it's been great. I'm so happy to be back and update and read TRs!

:lmao: It's amazing how many people fit into those parks, isn't it? I think this day was the worst crowd wise for us.

Henry is starting to loose the baby look - and after his haircut it's even more evident...

Don't you just love DISing in your jammies with coffee? I did the exact same thing this morning. And this afternoon it's Coke Zero. And regular clothes. I did manage to get ready for the day. ;)

It wasn't too bad of a day overall considering the crowds - Nemo, Safari, FOTLK, EE and some general touring.

As you probably all noticed and did a  face at Henry's crazy hair in his Buzz pajamas picture...just to let you know we DID cut that mop! :rotfl:

Back in Minnesota he INSISTED on it being long, we got a trim and he bawled the entire time.

Here however, we don't have central air and it's been in the 90s. He sat really nice and still for the barber.

34766_10150201155090285_500090284_13099847_1597205_n.jpg

We left off putting Henry down for bed and then once again, Joe, KK and I headed off to MK.

I had one agenda item:

  1. Advance swiftly to Casey's.
  2. Find shortest line.
  3. Approach CM and counter and kindly request Corn Dog Nuggets.
  4. Pay CM.
  5. Advance to condiment bar.
  6. Obtain small white paper cup.
  7. Squirt ketchup into small white paper cup.
  8. Proceed to dip Corn Dog Nugget into ketchup.
  9. Repeat with large smile on face.
And that one agenda item was conquered!

But...before we did that...I was freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezing! I had to purchase a hat otherwise I think I would have turned into an icicle that night.

759620308_nLLqY-M.jpg

Do I dare purchase the one with the giant blue pom-pom on top? Would my husband still admit he knew me?

759620321_oQe7g-M.jpg

Better choice.

Along with this purchase, I believe it was this night that I selected a Goofy plush for Henry as a surprise for when he woke up in the morning!

Quickly selected, quickly purchased and we quickly moved onto the Happy Place, commonly known as Casey's.

I followed the directive.

759620323_Kh8nQ-M.jpg

Hello my pretty nuggets of gold! I have missed thee.

759620341_MivCN-M.jpg

We excited Casey's and...

I am certain that PP thought I was something special by wanting pictures of me eating Corn Dog Nuggets in front of the Castle...

Due to all my hype and seriousness about obtaining these little beauties my SIL had to try one. She didn't get it.

Neither does Joe.

It's truly not about the taste...while I DO like them, it's more about the memory they hold. November 2008. Henry's first trip. Sitting on the curb watching Spectro and eating Corn Dog Nuggets while my little baby was ooohing at the floats going by and DEVOURING the nuggets with me. I never thought I would want a hot dog on vacation, I had nixed this place from the get-go...but it's right there, and we were starved...and not giving up our prime curb space...I'm so glad we chose Casey's. It was a magical moment for me!

And I will be eating them in September. ::yes::

As I munched we made our way to Tomorrowland.

759620363_PN5Qm-M.jpg

The Nuggets in Tomorrowland! We then discussed keeping a few of them and the cup and taking pictures of them all over the park that night. But I couldn't stop eating them...

Soon enough they were gone.

759620374_uYd42-M.jpg

Tear. Until next time my friend!

Guess where we were headed to in Tomorrowland?

No, not Space Mountain!

Stitch of course!

Just kidding! ;)

On our way...

759620382_JdjhJ-M.jpg

759620391_LqXrq-M.jpg

Yep, I'm impressed.

759620396_xDfX9-M.jpg

759620415_JreiY-M.jpg

Oh, so THAT'S how I get home...

759620420_V3nWT-M.jpg

Another geek picture. And another opportunity for Joe to comment, "They should have Macs."

759620435_jzWi3-M.jpg

Capturing the time.

759620447_Mith2-M.jpg

Space Mountain back rubs!

I cannot recall how long we waited in line, but I do remember it being just slightly longer than our previous visit. It was well worth it - we all loved it!

After SM none of us were ready to leave the park, and KK wanted to ride some of the classics being it was her first time at Disney World!

759620464_m3VMC-M.jpg

First up, Dumbo!

Continued in next post

Continued from previous post

And then onward to It's A Small World - which made me twinge with Mommy Guilt since Henry didn't get a chance to ride it. :sad1:

After those two rides we were starting to drag, so we decided to head to to Kidani. We went through the Castle - my picture doesn't even come close to how beautiful it was seeing Main Street all lit up and the giant tree at the end through the Castle! I wish I could have captured it.

759620808_ynP7C-M.jpg

Oh, but before we leave Joe decided he was now hungry. I forgot that he decided to skip dinner back at Kidani. I knew he would get hungry...part of me thinks he did it on purpose so he could get some Disney food since we were eating in the room a lot this trip!

759620830_F6tw6-M.jpg

KK and I really started to fade in here while he munched on his cheeseburger. I remember seeing several sleeping people in here (sorry Jordan, no pics ;)) and I thought about joining them.

After he was done he made mention of wanting a dessert item....and asked to stop at the Main Street Bakery. And I suggested we split an ice cream sandwich, to which he readily agreed. So that is just what we did!

759620856_n58tE-M.jpg

759620866_GodWa-M.jpg

759620871_xJPqp-M.jpg

2 giant cookies, 3 scoops of ice cream...yum.

759620878_btNkf-M.jpg

After we paid we went to the side and tried to figure out how we would split this baby 3 ways. A nice CM came up and saw our predicament, she gave us some tips on how to cut it - which worked perfectly. She's a pro, she said - she sees people do it all the time. She offered to take our picture with the ice cream, but unfortunately the flash didn't go off.

759620894_KbQrP-M.jpg

Yum.

All I can remember from this night was falling asleep on the bus. I tired with all my might to stay awake, I Tweeted/updated Facebook, but I even remember falling asleep while hitting the keys on the cell phone. I was exhausted, it was past 1:00 am and I was starting to run dry from all the park touring and being the "leader" of the group.

Back at Kidani it appears I did stop long enough to admire the tree-and the picture isn't crooked, so I must have been at least slightly awake!

759618199_Rd6ZF-M.jpg

Henry looks so grown up with the haircut!! He is adorable .

I am so happy you got your corndog nuggets. What a wonderful memory to have associated with them.

759620374_uYd42-M.jpg

This picture is just too funny :rotfl2:. The hat is cute. Bill and I need to get one of those ice cream sandwiches someday. Looks like you had a great time at MK.

Such a sweet memory of you and Henry eating corn dog nuggets. I'd love that too :)

Love the corn dog pictures! Those are the ones that will really mean something to you 20 years from now :goodvibes

On our last trip to Disney our first meal were the corn nuggets from Casey's. They were so good. I mentioned that fact to a cousin and she had never been to Casey's and she has been to Disney over 10 times. I was shocked. I then educated her about the joys of the corn nuggets at Casey's. Then watching the light parade on the curb.

Henry's new haircut is adorable!!!

I am in love with your corn dog nugget pictures!!! I think your picture in front of the castle eating those corn dog nuggets may be the BEST Photopass picture I have ever seen!!! :lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:

Oh my gosh Brook! I am totally cracking up at the PP pics of you eating Corn Dog Nuggets in front of the castle :lmao: That photographer must have thought you were insane!

Henry's hair cut is really cute!!

Love your corn dog nugget photos, they are great pictures. Ones that will always put a smile on your face. :thumbsup2

All caught up on the last two updates! Love that you got to ride EE at night. I STILL haven't done it. Ugghhhhh!

Glad you got into FOTLK without any trouble.

Corn dog nuggets and those ice cream sandwiches - still on my must try food list. Hopefully I can get to one of them this September!

So glad you TR is back up and running. It seems so weird to see you guys in hats when its a bagillion degrees out today. Wrong - very wrong!

If I ever try the nuggets, I'll make sure to take a pic for you hehe

Henry looks like himself with the short haircut, just a bigger Henry! ;) Too cute!
I am amazed at the crowds you experienced! Wow! That's a whole lotta people! :scared: I'm glad you made it back to AK at night, it has such a different look. EE in the dark must be pretty wild! I would be screaming too! :thumbsup2
Have you had cooler weather up in NYC? We are not so humid so I think you may have had a break from it too. Are you thrilled to be there now?

Happy
4th of July!

My Mom is here visiting and we had plans for the fireworks, but it's 95 degrees out there today, and they are expecting 3 million people to flood the west side of Manhattan...so we just weren't feeling it. We walked around Times Square, got some ice cream and are now enjoying the air conditioning back at home! If it wasn't so hot I'd suggest we fire up the grill and have a BBQ...but I'm thinking we'll just order delivery instead. :rotfl:

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday!
