A Tale As Old As Time - POR Sept '13

No real update here...I'm just so excited that we're leaving in JUST FOUR DAYS!!

I know I didn't start my PTR until fairly recently, but ever since we left Disney on our trip in 2010, I have been dreaming of the day we would go back. Amy and I spent countless conversations fantasizing about the day our families would go together. Amy almost went with her family last year, but a family emergency kept her home. Right away we started making preparations for a joint trip this year, hoping it would be good timing with our kids' ages. FINALLY, back in March, we convinced our husbands to let us make our hotel reservations. We promised them we would cancel if we didn't think it would work out, and be able to get a full refund. We immediately started planning out our park days and figuring out our dining selections. I started picking up a few hundred dollars in Disney giftcards at work every month or so. Before we knew it, Amy's 180-day mark hit and she was able to call and get our joint ADR's (all except for that BOG one that I was able to score the next day, which replaced an Ohana ADR she had made instead). The next day I was calling and was able to get everything else that I wanted. Then, in May, Disney finally released the free dining offer for Disney Visa cardholders. You can bet I was on the phone at exactly 7AM, talking to a cast member as I was walking into work!! I knew there was no going back after that. My husband still says we won't go if the house isn't clean...he doesn't have faith in my powers of procrastination!

Well, I'm going to get together my room request fax for POR, and then get back to cleaning and packing. Won't my DH be surprised when he comes home???

Tonight I'm going to my MIL's house to make Jaxon's MNSSHP costume!!

I wish I was talented enough to make costumes!! Would save me so much money!! We got Landen's Woody shirt from Etsy and it arrived Saturday... I am waiting on my Snow White Apron, DH's Incredible tee and Lawson will be Jake from Jake and the Neverland Pirates... EEEEKKK.. So excited for you!!

Amy, her mom and I are wearing tutus that Amy made, Minnie Mouse ear headbands (from the Disney store), and screen print Minnie shirts that we made at my sister's condo during our girls' weekend in Louisville. My headband has cheetah print ears and a black feather with a white silk rosette and some rhinestones. My shirt is black with a white Minnie head and pink bow with rhinestones. Amy has a pirate themed headband and her black shirt has a white Minnie head with a red glitter bow. Her mom's headband has a top hat and her shirt is pink with a black Minnie head. I think Amy put pearls on the bow.

Jilly is wearing a Pocahontas costume from the Disney store. I made her some "ankle bracelets" out of a suede-looking fabric that I cut into fringe and embellished with gold and turquoise pony beads (to match the fringe on the dress). She's going to wear them over some pale gold slip-on shoes to make it look like she is wearing moccasin boots.

Jax is going to be Meeko. I bought grey shorts and a tshirt. Jed's mom sewed on an off-white wool felt "bib," made him dark grey, light grey, and off-white ears that are attached to a headband, and made a stuffed light grey and dark grey tail that attaches to a black belt.

I wanted both of their costumes to be pretty light and simple so they stay comfortable at the MNSSHP. I wish I could post a pic, but I already packed them! I'll have to post a few pics after the party! You'll just have to wait four more days. I can't wait to see pics of all your cute costumes next month!!!

Wow, the costumes sound great!! I cant wait to see them.. I wish I were going to Disney this week!! Originally, we had booked Sept 21-23 but then cancelled it and rebooked for October.. It was the same dates as last year!
