A Tale As Old As Time - POR Sept '13

Because I'm on a picture kick, I figured I would share some of the clothes and other goodies I've purchased for our trip.

First, here's our ME packet!!

Here are some things I bought to keep the kids entertained, from Party City:

Glow necklaces and lanyards for Jilly

Glow necklaces for Jax

I purchased these trading pins from EBay so Jilly can start trading (I picked out the Chip & Dale ones for myself...but I don't know where I put them...):

My husband's stepmom gave me these to add to Jilly's pin trading collection:

These things I bought as in-room surprises from Mickey and Minnie:

Crafts and socks for Jilly from Target

A Minnie outfit for Jilly from Target

Crafts and socks for Jax from Target

Here are my clothes:

A Hakuna Matata tank to wear to AK from Target

An Animal Tshirt to wear to DHS from Target (boys department)

A Minnie tank from Old Navy

A Minnie and Mickey shirt from Old Navy

A "Keep Calm" Tshirt from RedBubble.com

Here are the very few things I hope to be able to convince Jed to wear:

A Mad Hatter & March Hare Tshirt from RedBubble.com

A Mickey Tshirt from the Disney Store (Amy bought these for her whole family and had an extra)

Here are Jax's clothes:

A Mickey Safari outfit that was passed down from his Cousin Jack (getting a little small but hopefully it will still fit)

A Mickey outfit from Target

A Planes Tshirt from Target

A Cars Tshirt from Old Navy

A Monsters, Inc outfit from Old Navy (on the back it has Mike Wazowski and says "So you better watch your back.)

A Monsters University outfit from Target

And finally, Princess Jilly's royal wardrobe...

A Mickey outfit from Old Navy

A Monsters University outfit from Target

A Monsters University Tshirt from Target

A Mickey outfit from Old Navy

Annnd that's all I got...have a good night!!!

Yes friday the 13 is good luck for us too. we had our first date on friday the 13th. lol. I will have to glance at the threat i might turn green with envy. We talk about renewing our vows at Disney maybe one year we will.

Ooooo that sounds really fun! Maybe when we return I will start planning our fifteen year anniversary...I think renewing our vows on a Disney cruise would be appropriate...:beach:

We don't have a family trip planned, but we have a lot of the same Disney clothes! My DS wore that Monsters University outside from Target to his birthday party (it was a Monsters Inc theme). He still wears it all the time.

Sorry I MIA my daughter and family arrived on thur for 6 days we went to an indoor water park sat and the Michigan Ren faire sun. BBQ at my house mon and they left tue after we spent the day going over our Disney plan, putting on some iron on transfers poppygirl made me and packing all the Disney stuff for her to take home with her.......they will drive to Disney so don't have to worry about weight :)

Your clothing selections look really cute. I really love the AK outfit for your son too bad they don't come in Adult size my DH would love that mickey shirt...:rotfl2:

cute clothes, I like the party city stuff. I will have to go visit my store for some goodies. Its funny mu husband has almost a weeks worth of disney themes shirts for our upcomong trip and I have 1. Earlier in the year I bought my boys some shirts but i found out the hard was that disney shirts some times run small so my boys have our grown what I bought from the online disney store in Januay :scared:

EEEKKKK!! I love new Disney clothes!! Love your shoes too!

I bought three shirts for our trip this summer.. One is a pink Minnie shirt, one is a Peter Pan tank, I love Peter Pan and especially since my mom passed, that line is special to me.. Hence my title :) and I got a shirt with the Disney princesses all in little boxes!!

I have a lady making me the boys matching shirts.. They will have little trucks with little Mickey heads in the back and the wheels are little mickey heads with their names, in Disney font to wear on our first day! Lawson also has a Monsters University shirt that he will probably wear too. Hopefully I can find a couple more cute ones for cheap!

I also bought my DH last trip a shirt that says "Sorry, ladies but I'm taken and it has Prince Charming!! YAY!!! Okay, sorry for my excitement about Disney clothes.. LOL

Oooo I bet that was a cute party! Jax's first birthday was a Nemo theme, since we called him our little squishy all the time. Jilly thinks we should have a Despicable Me 2 theme for his second.

Sounds like an exciting summer! The Ohio RenFest is starting up this weekend, I think. Last year was the first year we missed in quite some time. It's always a blast!

I bet if they made that outfit in a men's size, my dad would TOTALLY wear it. He has all kinds of fun Hawaiian style shirts that he likes to wear, and Jax is his number one guy, so I know he would love to have matching outfits. :cool1:

That is so funny that your husband has more Disney shirts than you do! I like him already! I did notice that Disney stuff runs pretty small. I don't have too much that actually came from Disney. We do have an outlet not too far from here, but I don't usually find clothes that I love there. I have better luck at Target and Old Navy. They usually have the softer, more vintage styles at affordable prices.

EEEKKKK!! I love new Disney clothes!! Love your shoes too!

Oh my gosh that shirt sounds AWESOME! And the boys' shirts are going to be sooo adorable! I love the Peter Pan reference in your title. I was just telling my best friend the other day about how Peter was my favorite character to meet on our last trip. He was so perfectly in character, and sat down on the ground to talk to Jilly. Loved him!

Thanks for the "EEEKKKK!" This is exactly how I feel every single day when I think about this trip!

Okaaay...so I feel like I'm starting all over again, but now that we have our MagicBands and Fastpass + options, I had to make some changes. So here's a quick rundown of Day 1:

Nothing has changed for the beginning of the day. Although I did discover that I can check-in for our flight 24 hours in advance using Delta's mobile app, so then we can just check our bags curbside or take them to the baggage drop and head straight to security. We will have eboarding passes that will be on my phone, which is good for someone like me who can be a little forgetful...

Once we arrive at the Magic Kingdom, I'm hoping to head straight to the Harmony Barber Shop for Jax's first haircut! If there's time, I'll also get our Disney Rewards Redemption card at the Guest Relations window (from our Disney Visa points). I might wait until later to get that if we're a little pressed for time. We have plenty of gift cards for spending money to get us started. I've also taken note that there is a Baby Care Center located between Casey's Corner and Crystal Palace, in case we need anything for Jax.

I was allowed to make three FP+ selections per day, and I tried to match them up with what Amy had. Keep in mind she will already be there before us, so some of these may be too early for us to make.

Our first FP+ is for Haunted Mansion, and the next is for Splash Mountain. Last is BTMRR, which I'm pretty sure we will have plenty of time to enjoy. I wanted to spend our first afternoon checking out new Fantasyland, but I also want to be able to meet up with Amy and her family. It's all about compromise. Heading to Frontierland will be a good excuse to swing through Adventureland to pick up a Dole Whip anyway...

After that, we'll take the monorail to the Contemporary for our dinner ADR at Chef Mickey's!

After dinner, we'll return to MK. We received a bonus FP+ for Under the Sea, but I also have that one for another day (they seem to give it out whenever you make MK FP+), so we might skip it so we can find a good place to watch Wishes. I figure we'll either watch from the Tomorrowland Bridge area or another spot I heard about near Casey's Corner.

All in all it will be a busy day! I really hope Jax will sleep on the plane since we won't really be stopping for him to take a nap. Luckily our flight isn't too early so we won't have to get him up any earlier than a normal work day. We should be heading back to POR around the time he normally goes to sleep at night, so that should work in our favor too.

So that's our revised day two! Hopefully I can squeeze in some more DIS time in the next couple of days so I can finally finish days 2 through 8! I can't believe we will be there in a little over two weeks!!!!! I have to work super early tomorrow, and then go to a bridal shower for my stepbrother's fiance. After that I'm hoping to visit my other stepbrother and his wife at the hospital because they just had their baby today! She was supposed to be induced on September 13 (perfect timing so my dad and stepmom could see her before leaving for Florida) but she went into labor today! I can't wait to meet her! This is my life...no wonder I can't plan a vacation with time to relax and slow down...

Wow busy girl....:thumbsup2 but sounds like lot's of fun family time!

Yup! Never a dull moment here! We ended up not visiting the baby yesterday because I've had this cough for weeks and I was afraid of getting her sick. Instead we went to dinner with my mom and stepdad. She is in the process of moving back to Cincy after being in Texas for ten years!!

Moving on to Day 2 with our FP+ updates!

As I stated in an earlier post, this will be the day that Amy and her family spend some time together at AK, and we will meet up with my dad and stepmom at EP.

I've made a new note that the Baby Care Center is located between Test Track and the Mexico Pavilion in the Odyssey Center.

I would still like to spend this day checking out the attractions in Future World. I was able to get FP+ for Mission Space and Test Track before lunch. We still plan on having lunch at Sunshine Seasons (one of our faves from our last trip!), and then we have FP+ for Soarin' in the afternoon. Since Dad and Nancy aren't staying on property, they won't have FP+, but I have a feeling they'd rather hang out with Jax while we ride the thrill rides.

The rest of the plans, including our Garden Grill dinner ADR, are all the same. The only other note I've made is that "Princess and the Frog" is playing at the resort for Movies Under the Stars that evening.

As you might remember, we've been tossing around different ideas for the first part of Day 3. I originally had a lunch ADR at San Angel Inn, then made a breakfast ADR at Cape May Café. I finally decided to cancel the Cape May Café ADR and went back to my original plan of going to EP for lunch. I figured it wouldn't save us much money to cancel another day of park admission, and it will still be less stressful than trying to take two modes of transportation (bus and/or boat) to Cape May Café. Plus Jed really wanted to eat at San Angel Inn.

I went ahead and made a few FP+ for EP that day as well, since I don't really want to be tied down to any reservations during MNSSHP in the evening.

Amy is pretty sure she is not going to go to any parks this day, so that her kids will be well rested for MNSSHP. She didn't have any ADR's this day, so she didn't have to rearrange her plans too much. She will be taking her daughter to BBB after 4 at MK once we can get in with our party tix. My dad and stepmom also won't be visiting a park in the morning. They just have two days left on their No Expiration tix, which they are going to use on the day before and the day after. We bought them MNSSHP tix as a combined "thank-you" for all of the work dad has helped with at our house, and a b-day gift for my stepmom. They were pretty excited!

Anyway, it will be just the four of us heading to EP this day. We'll sleep in a little, and then we have FP+ for Spaceship Earth (originally this was Test Track - but I realized I already had that for the day before while I was typing this and headed over to mydisneyexperience to rearrange our itinerary...I love this whole MyMagic+!), followed by lunch at San Angel Inn, and then back over to FW for FP+ for Turtle Talk with Crush and the Seas with Nemo and Friends. We'll probably also make a stop at the Disney Visa Meet 'n Greet. Can't get too many free 5x7's!!

We should be able to head out of EP early in the afternoon and then head back to POR to get ready for MNSSHP. I'd like to get to MK as close to 4PM as possible so we can ride some rides before the party starts. If we are able to knock out Turtle Talk and the Seas on the previous day, we'll just leave EP after lunch and try to reschedule those two FP+ for something in MK. Actually I'm not sure if we can do that - it might only let us do one park per day. Regardless, if there's anything we can do to free up some time in the afternoon, we'll do it!

No changes to the evening - still planning on partying with the Mouse!!

Coming up next - those elusive Day 3 plans finally revealed!!!!

Where exactly is Peter Pan? Can you believe I have never met him before? I would LOVE to get a pic with him as my little boy knows that his grandma is "Second Star to the right, and straight until morning" :)

SOunds like good plans so far. I need to do the Magic+ and get those cool little bands! :)

When we met him, he was in Fantasyland. I'm pretty sure it was close to the Peter Pan ride. He sat down on the ground next to my daughter and talked to her about Tinkerbell. He told her if she saw Tink, that she should hold her upside down by her feet and shake out some pixie dust. So cute!

Here he is showing her how to find Neverland...

Posing for a super cute pic...

And signing her copy of Peter Pan.

OMM (Oh My Mickey!) I can't believe we're leaving in six days and I still haven't posted all of our plans! It's been another busy week for us...last Friday was the rehearsal dinner for my cousin's wedding and my ten year wedding anniversary (my husband got me gorgeous flowers and a Kindle!), then Saturday was the wedding. Jilly was the flower girl, and it was the nicest wedding I've ever attended. The day started off meeting at a hotel downtown and walking to the salon, where all of the girls had their hair done, then going back to the hotel to have lunch and finish getting ready. Then we took a bus to a couple of photo locations, then went to the wedding, and then to the reception. It was at the Bell Event Center, which is a former cathedral that has been transformed into a reception hall. Soooo gorgeous! During the reception, I talked to some of my family members who will be in Disney during part of our trip (they leave tomorrow!) which of course got me even more excited!

Anyway, that's just part of the reason I've been so slow to update my PTR, but I won't bore you with the rest of the details.

Before I move on to Day 4, I have to tell you about some more changes for Days 2 & 3. I fiddled around with MDE for a bit, and finally decided to move my San Angel Inn lunch ADR to Day 2 (so we'll have ADR's for lunch and dinner that day). This gives us the ability to still keep San Angel Inn in our plans, and have a park-free day before MNSSHP. As for the FP+ selections we had at EP, I don't think it's anything we won't be able to squeeze into our other two days at EP with the low crowd levels.

We will either do CS at POR or head over to DTD for lunch that day. I'm hoping this will give us enough down time to be able to stay at MK from 4PM to midnight for MNSSHP. I'm feeling really good about this plan, finally!

Sooo...on to Day 4!

Since we'll be up pretty late for MNSSHP, we aren't going to try to make "rope drop" at Epcot this day. I do have a FP+ for Journey Into Imagination, so I'm hoping we can get to the park before that expires. Next we're heading over to the World Showcase to have a late breakfast with the princesses at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall. Our ADR is still before the opening time for WS, so I'm hoping to get a few good pictures before the crowds rush in! We'll be joined by Amy and the rest of her family.

My dad and stepmom will be meeting up with us at some point after our brunch. Before leaving the WS, I'd like to see the Jeweled Dragon Acrobats perform. We missed them on our last trip, so Jilly hasn't seen them. I'd also like to meet the Wonderland friends in the UK. We have another FP+ for Soarin' but we may skip it if we feel like we need a mid-day break. If we do take a break, we'll have CS dinner at POR and then head back to EP in time for our FP+ for Illuminations. If we don't need the mid-day break, we'll probably have dinner at the Tangierine Café. It was one of our favorite places to eat on our last visit!

I'm excited to see what kind of viewing area they have set up for the Illuminations FP+. It's nice because we don't have to find a spot super early and just sit there wasting precious park time. I should have plenty of time to stop for a Grey Goose Slush in France...

So that's our Day 4 plan! Coming up...Day 5!

I'll try to keep these daily plans rolling, even though I should be cleaning my house and getting in some more packing time. :rolleyes1

Day 5 brings us all to Disney's Hollywood Studios (except for my dad and stepmom, they'll be heading back home). We hope to be up early enough for rope drop. I've made a note in my daily plans that there is a Baby Care Center located to the left as you enter the park. This will be helpful if we decide to skip our mid-day break and need some down time. We will obviously head to TSM to pick up some paper FP's and maybe ride standby, but we also have FP+ just in case. We'll squeeze in as many attractions as we can before lunch. Amy and her family are having lunch at the Sci-Fi later, but we'll be having CS at either Starring Rolls or Studio Catering Co. (Side Note - our original plans were to go to Studio Catering Co. all together and then check out the Honey, I Shrunk the Kids playground, but sadly it will be closed for refurbishment.) After lunch we have FP+ for the Stunt Show.

If we decide to take a mid-day break, we'll leave as soon as the Stunt Show is over and spend a couple of hours at POR. Our family will head back in time for dinner at 50's Prime Time Café (Amy's family will either eat at POR or have CS at DHS). We'll then meet back up for Fantasmic! I'm super excited that we got FP+ for this. I think it was one of the longest lines we waited in last time, so I'm happy that we don't have to worry about waiting in line for an hour. Hopefully we can squeeze in a ride on Tower of Terror before it starts!

After Fantasmic we'll head straight to our beds at POR. We really want to be up early the next day for the Welcome Show at MK!!

I'm really hoping we can skip our mid-day break this day, since it's our only day at DHS and there are a lot of attractions we'd like to experience. We'll probably skip Beauty and the Beast, Indiana Jones, and American Idol this trip (we enjoy all of them but they take up a lot of time). I'm also not very concerned about the Backlot Tour or the Great Movie Ride this time. We didn't do Star Tours or Muppets 3D last time, so those are high priority. I'm determined to get my Chicken Little (Jilly) to try out ToT and RnRC, but we'll see...

So that's Day 5! Next up is Day 6!

Moving right along to Day 6!

As I stated in my previous post, our plans are to make it to MK in time for the Welcome Show with Amy and her family. I'm pretty sure I had never seen it before our last trip (thank you disboards) and it was so amazing to experience it with our DD.

While the rest of the crowd heads to the right toward Fantasyland, we'll head to the left to grab a FP for Splash Mountain (or ride it if we feel like getting wet first thing in the morning). We'll then head over to POTC for our FP+ (we didn't get to ride this on our last trip, so it will be Jilly's first time). We'll check out any Frontierland or Adventureland attractions we haven't done yet until we get hungry. If we haven't met Tiana by this time (maybe at the MNSSHP?) we'll definitely get in line in Liberty Square, then our family will have lunch at Columbia Harbour House while Amy and her family go to the Liberty Tree Tavern for their lunch ADR. (I was able to get a FP for lunch at BOG, but I think that would spoil it for our dinner that night, so that's why we're doing CHH instead. Also, we wanted to try CHH last time and never made it there.)

After lunch, we've scheduled time for a mid-day break. I would like to make sure we at least leave time to go back to POR and change into a dress (the blue one from my shopping update) and get freshened up for dinner at BOG. We have a pretty early dinner ADR (still can't believe I was able to get this for our party of 10!) so we should have time for more rides after dinner. We have a FP+ for Enchanted Tales with Belle, and then FP+ for the Electrical Parade. There are two times for Celebrate the Magic, so we'll probably check that out and then head back to POR once MK closes.

Amy and her family are leaving the next day, so I'm sure we'll want to stay until the last possible second...:sad1:

I'll post plans for our final park day in the next update!

Ok I'm going to try to squeeze in this one last park day update before DS is ready for lunch! I am such a procrastinator, but I can really shine in those last few precious hours! :lmao:

As I stated previously, Amy and her family will be making the sad journey home this day, so we'll be heading to AK with our little family. Last time we did AK on our first full park day, and now we're doing it on our last. I figured this would be the best day because the park is open until 6 (it's only open until 5 the week before), it has a really low crowd prediction, and we can probably stay from open to close without a break and then have the evening to wind down, pack, do some shopping at DTD, swimming at POR, or whatever else sounds enjoyable.

We'll head to the park as soon as it opens, and of course head straight to the Kilamanjaro Safari. We won't have to fight the crowds though (if there are any), because we have FP+. We'll be able to take our time and check out some of the sights and animals along the way, and also find the Baby Care Center on Discovery Island near the bridge to Africa. After the Safari, we'll head over to Tusker House for our breakfast ADR.

The plan for after breakfast is to head to Conservation Station/Rafiki's Planet Watch. Jilly loved meeting the characters and petting and learning about the animals there last time. After that we'll take the train back and head toward Discovery Island for our FP+ to meet Favorite Disney Pals at Adventurer's Outpost.

Next we'll head to Asia to walk the Maharaja Jungle Trek (we missed this last time) and then ride Expedition Everest with our FP+. Since Jax is too little for this one, and we won't have any other family or friends with us, I'm hoping to convince Jilly to ride it so Jed and I can use the Parent Swap and each ride with her. Jed has never ridden it because he doesn't like to ride things by himself and Jilly was too little last time. I rode it once last time and loved it!

After that I'm hoping we have time to check out Dinoland, see the Festival of the Lion King, and meet Chip & Dale (our mascots!!) in Camp Minnie-Mickey. We'll probably skip the parade this time (one of our favorites, but we've seen it a few times, and it's always so hot!!) along with Finding Nemo (not really one of my favorites) so that we have a little more time for other attractions. Jilly was scared to death when we saw It's Tough to Be a Bug last time, so we probably won't torture Jax and her with it on this trip. I know people say this is a one day park, but we really love it and I wish we had another day here. Some year we'll do the ten-day trip that I've always dreamed of...

Once AK closes, or we run out of energy (whichever comes first), we'll head back to POR. We'll decide then if we want to hang out at POR or head to DTD for dinner. Either choice will be a wonderful way to spend our last evening in Disney!

The next day ME will probably pick us up around 10:00 AM, so we'll just use up any leftover snack or CS credits at POR and take one last stroll along the Sassagoula River. Even though I'm disappointed that our departing flight was moved up a few hours, taking away the possibility of a morning in a park, I'm glad that we will get home by dinner time. That way Jilly can finish up any school work she has left and get a good night's sleep before going back to school the next morning!

So that's it, I finally got our daily plans posted, just days before we leave. There's still time to add any suggestions, and they will be greatly appreciated!
:disrocks:

Thanks for posting the Peter Pan pic.. I hope we can find him there!! :) Sounds like you have wonderful plans! I know you are getting so excited! Let me know if you get Jilly on some of the scarier rides.. I am hoping Lawson wants to go on some bigger rides! He loved Splash, Dinosaur and Kali River Rapids so hopefully he will be a daredevil with me!

You're so welcome! It's one of my favorites. If we see Peter again this trip I will definitely take note for you. I'm hoping the MDE app will really be helpful when it comes to meeting our favorite characters!

No real update here...I'm just so excited that we're leaving in JUST FOUR DAYS!!

I know I didn't start my PTR until fairly recently, but ever since we left Disney on our trip in 2010, I have been dreaming of the day we would go back. Amy and I spent countless conversations fantasizing about the day our families would go together. Amy almost went with her family last year, but a family emergency kept her home. Right away we started making preparations for a joint trip this year, hoping it would be good timing with our kids' ages. FINALLY, back in March, we convinced our husbands to let us make our hotel reservations. We promised them we would cancel if we didn't think it would work out, and be able to get a full refund. We immediately started planning out our park days and figuring out our dining selections. I started picking up a few hundred dollars in Disney giftcards at work every month or so. Before we knew it, Amy's 180-day mark hit and she was able to call and get our joint ADR's (all except for that BOG one that I was able to score the next day, which replaced an Ohana ADR she had made instead). The next day I was calling and was able to get everything else that I wanted. Then, in May, Disney finally released the free dining offer for Disney Visa cardholders. You can bet I was on the phone at exactly 7AM, talking to a cast member as I was walking into work!! I knew there was no going back after that. My husband still says we won't go if the house isn't clean...he doesn't have faith in my powers of procrastination! :rotfl:

Well, I'm going to get together my room request fax for POR, and then get back to cleaning and packing. Won't my DH be surprised when he comes home???

Tonight I'm going to my MIL's house to make Jaxon's MNSSHP costume!!

Have a very Magical day everyone!!
