A Surprise Spring Break Trip filled with Fun and Sun!

You are one sneaky lady! :tiptoe: I'd never be able to surprise my crowd like that! Too funny! Your DS was in total shock! Loved it!

Hi! :wave2: Usually a lurker, but trying to reform! haha!

I love the end of the video when you son says he isnt hungry. Clearly he thinks that if he isnt hungry, he doesnt need to eat, and you all can leave earlier. So cute!

Signing on, the letters in the eggs was a great idea! Can't wait read more :)

Thanks for joining in! I got the letter tile idea from HappyDog and just adapted it to the holiday. So many good ideas to be found on the DIS!:goodvibes

Thanks! I can't believe we pulled it off. We had several near slip-ups! In a way it was very stressful and I doubt I'd try it again. It was fun though!
Ben was in shock for sure. He wasn't really himself the rest of the morning and would just ask "Really?" at totally random times.

What a fun video!

Thanks! We've watched it several times now. Brings a smile to my face each time!

Welcome and thanks for joining in!! I love having folks comment!!:goodvibes

My SIL kept saying that they won't want to eat after they find out! Ben got over it quickly though. After we stopped recording we gave him a timetable for the day so he knew what was happening. He got his appetite back after that! Trust me, he doesn't miss many meals!;)

What a great video! That is a great idea, putting the tiles in the eggs!

Thanks! Another great idea snagged here on the DIS from HappyDog!

Love it Stacy! Such a cute video :goodvibes

Thanks Michelle!:)

I'm here to hear all about it.

The video's great! Ben is so funny --He gets so excited about flying! and Ellie is so sweet going, "Thank you, thank you ,thank you!" :)

I love it! The video was so funny-and it made me tear up at the same time! Thanks for sharing such a cool moment with us.:goodvibes

Memom - where did you find that "ring around the rosie" smilie?!! Cute!

It's called Best Smileys. Erica (Vandyfan10) told me about it.

Ben got over it quickly though. After we stopped recording we gave him a timetable for the day so he knew what was happening.

I know he was keeping you to that timetable, too! :cool1:

Thanks for sharing the fun video. :)

Hi Michelle! Ben's reaction was funny and not what we thought it'd be. I thought for sure he'd start shouting or doing like Ellie. Goes to show that he's growing up and thinking on a different level...worried about his park bag!!:rotfl:

Thanks Maggie! I get teary watching it too. Hard to believe that last Sunday it was all beginning! This week flew by!!

I know he was keeping you to that timetable, too! :cool1:

Thanks for sharing the fun video. :)

Thanks MeMom! Yes, he kept tabs on the time all day. When we got all of our stuff together and started putting it in the car he actually got in the car. He wanted to just wait there even though we still had a while before we left. Poor kid was so ready to go!!

Departure!

The big reveal, as I mentioned, took place quite early. After they knew we cleared the table and prepared to eat the yummy breakfast that Laura had prepared. We had cinnamon crumb cake, hashbrown casserole, sausage, bacon, biscuits, and it seems like I am missing something else because there was so much food!! We ate until we were stuffed!

Then we cleaned up and the adults got dressed for the day. It was a gorgeous day so we walked to the front of their neighborhood and down a path to a little stream to do some fishing. Laura and her husband, Rich, are very outdoorsy (John and I are not..;)) so the kids enjoy getting to do this kind of stuff with them. Ben got right into it and caught a fish or two. Sydney, who does this often with them, started catching some too. Poor Ellie was struggling with herself-to fish or not to fish. John kept asking her and this only made her more upset and she ended up crying. I felt badly for her and yet also mildly frustrated because I didn't understand the crying-you either fish or you don't.:confused3 Anyways, I talked to her a bit and then with some coaxing from Laura she ended up fishing and loving it!! Rich was trying to catch a catfish and in the end it was Ellie that caught it.

Soon it was nearing lunch time and Sydney and Ben were ready to go! Ellie, now in love with fishing, didn't want to leave but she relented and we headed back to Laura's house. Most of us took the same path but Laura and Ellie went a different way and she was thrilled to go with her auntie Laura.

Once back home I started chopping the eggs the kids had dyed the day before for egg salad and when Laura got back (their path was longer), she started getting out the rest of the leftovers for lunch. We all stuffed ourselves silly again and yet there still seemed to be tons of food!

We lounged around a bit and around 2 we packed our bags in earnest. We planned on leaving around 3 for the airport. Rich and John loaded the car and poor Ben went and got in so Ellie followed him to wait!! We talked them back inside and they watched some TV to pass the time. We were all ready to go!!

Our airport fiasco is next!!

:welcome: Tracy! Thanks so much for coming over!!

It was contagious, wasn't it! They figured it out much faster than I thought they would. You could just see Ben's wheels turning.

Airport fiasco coming right up...:headache:

I think that I know some of this from facebook, but I'll not breathe a word.....:upsidedow

Yep, I did express my frustration on FB that night! I'll post about it now!

Departure...part 2 (and 3:headache:)

As planned, we headed out for the airport right at 3. Laura is only a 25-30 minute drive from there and we didn't hit any traffic. Found the Airtran door and out we went. There was no line at the counter so we checked in and gave them our one bag. Made it through security with no problem (whew!) and found our gate.

The kids and I went and got a drink from Starbucks and some more gum. Then John and Ben went and got a snack from Auntie Ann's Pretzels. Ellie and I were still full from lunch. Here we are looking so excited and ready to go!

Don't they all look so happy??
Pretty soon they announced that our flight was full so we could check any other bags for free. So John went and checked our small suitcase just so we didn't have to deal with it. Shortly after that they began boarding. We were towards the front of the plane so we got on towards the end.

See how happy we are to be on the plane??

IMG_0772.jpg

We sat there a good few minutes. Then the captain came on and said that there was a problem and that we were a "No Go to Fly". My heart sank.:sad2: He said they were calling Orlando to see if they had the part they needed. This confused me because how was that going to help??:confused3 We waited a little while longer and then he came back on and said that they had found the part and it was being driven in...2 hours. Then it would take 1-2 hours for them to fix it. So, off the plane we went. Ben and Ellie started to tear up so John and I went into "it's going to be ok, we'll get there" mode. Inside, my heart was breaking too!! The flight was already late and now it seemed like we might not even make it there that night!

We got off and found seats in the terminal again. John got in line for food vouchers. Before he even got up there they made an announcement. They were getting the plane that was coming in at 7 and making it our plane. It was supposed to go to Atlanta. Well, we were thrilled. Those folks going to Atlanta were H.O.T!:mad: I did feel badly for them because they kept announcing about connecting flights being missed, hotel vouchers either there or in Atlanta. It was a mess for them. For us though it meant we got on our new plane around 7:10!:dance3:

Got off the ground this time and uneventful flight except Ellie's two trips to the bathroom. Girl never goes but when we fly...twice!
Landed around 10. Got our luggage and made our way to ME. Got on the bus right away. Then sat. And sat. And sat. Driver said they make him wait 35 minutes. I think that is ridonkulous!

Finally made it to WL. No one there checking in at that time. Got our room and such. Then made the

walk to our villa.
I should've counted steps!! It was sooooo far!!
All we did was open suitcases, find PJ's and toothbrushes, and hit the bed. We had an early day at MK scheduled!! It was 12:10 when we turned off the light. Alarm set for o'dark:30!

Up next: our villa and will we make it to rope drop for MK? (7:00 am:scared1:)

The kids look like they had so much fun fishing, but I bet it was almost torture for them to have to wait all day before you could leave!

Oh my, that stinks about the flight, but at least you didn't have to wait 4 more hours like you originally thought. And then having to wait forever on the ME bus, I would have been exhausted.

This is so FUNNY!!! I just finally got my tail over here, and when I saw the scrabble tiles, I was telling myself, wow, someone else thought about using scrabble tiles too... :lmao:

HOW FUN!!!! Looking forward to reading along!!!

UGH! What a drag with the flights, but better late than never! :thumbsup2 I have missed a few airplane fiascos this year, so I am glad that you made it despite the delay. Good to get some sleep I am sure. Looking forward to your first day in the MK! :goodvibes
