A Surprise Spring Break Trip filled with Fun and Sun!

Woo Hoo! for an empty park :woohoo: Reminds me of our AK visit on Christmas day, the no lines thing is awesome, definitely worth getting up early for.

You took some really great pictures!

Loved the fishing pictures. My Dad always took me fishing when I was younger and I have very fond memories of that. We take our DD to a little pond down the road too and she loves it. It is a great experience for kids (and adults!).

Your flight debacle would have sent me over the edge. As soon as the pilot would have mentioned needing a "part" I would have freaked out! :scared1: That is NOT what you want to hear from a pilot!!!!

Loved your empty MK pictures. Early morning is the way to go for sure. Not that I know this first hand :rolleyes1, but I've seen it so many times in other people's TRs. Everything looks so pretty with that sunrise glow too. Looks like a beautiful day. Love the picture of your DS on Dumbo! ;) So glad he wasn't "too old" or "too cool" to ride! :thumbsup2

great pics! can't wait to see what other parks you went to, to see if we were there at the same time(:

I'm all caught up & subbing to your TR!! Your pictures on the rides are great!! I'm in college and I would ride Dumbo :), but sadly we only got to go to WDW for one day on my spring break so we chose Hollywood Studios and had a blast!! I'm glad he enjoyed it! Look forward to reading more!

Love the pictures of the WLV---We stayed at the Lodge one time, and loved it ! I think it's such a beautiful place.

I can't believe how empty Main St was !!! Was that not the Monday after Easter? And that picture of Ben enjoying the "baby ride" is great! :)

All in all, it seems like you all have a great morning at MK! :thumbsup2

Wow I think I need a nap after all you got done in the am!!! :rotfl2: It sure was worth it though!! Love your daughter next to Alice while she is signing her autograph book and the picture of the three of them is great!
Isn't the one bedroom awesome! Love the space and of course the washer and dryer! I really like the decor of the room too. :)

Tracy

Yes, a nap indeed!! Just wait, that comes into play in just a little while...

The 1 bedrooms are the way to go! I can see us getting those for years to come. Love all the space and the washer and dryer was perfect!

I'm in! We were there some of the same days as you were so I'm curious to see what you have to say.

We went to EMH at the MK when it opened at 7 too and thought it was DEAD! Good for us though, we were able to do a lot. :thumbsup2

Welcome!! Thanks for joining in! It'll be neat to see if our paths crossed.
What day did you do MK? I wondered if it was dead all week at 7 or just early in the week. It was worth it to get so much done!

Yes, it was definitely worth getting up early for. Now, I wouldn't do it every day but once or twice, I would totally do it.:thumbsup2
Thanks about the pictures!

The kids really enjoyed the fishing. Now that Ellie likes it we'll have to work on more opportunities. I, on the other hand, can't stand it. It doesn't creep me out or anything, and I used to fish when I was younger, but nowadays I just can't handle sitting around and waiting for the fish to bite.:rotfl:

Yes, honestly, I was glad we got a whole 'nother plane. I think flying just isn't for me. Not to say I won't fly, or am scared, but I definitely prefer driving.

I was glad to see Ben get on Dumbo! I didn't gush about it and neither did he...in fact he acted like he didn't enjoy it...but I know that he did!:goodvibes
You really must try rope drop...sometime. Of course, at the time of year you go, it's not as important. But if you went at a more crowded time you would definitely see its appeal!

I love Dumbo and I will ride it as long as Ellie will ride with me. I'll still ride it after that (if she ever stops) but probably not every trip. Don't want to take a ride from a youngin.:goodvibes

DH and I chose DHS as our one day when we were on our honeymoon. It was MGM then and had hardly anything open (no ToT or RNRC) but we still had a blast. It's a fun park!

The lodge is wonderful. So rustic and comfy. One of our faves for sure!

Yep, that was the Monday after Easter. I was shocked at how empty it was, even for that early. Honestly, I never thought the crowds got that bad. Nothing worse than summer. Of course, we were out of the parks in the middle of the day so that may account for my observations.

You'll have to try it one time. :)

I sure do miss you having a TR going.

We got two nights there, and we loved it, too. We will be staying there again sometime. ::yes::

We pretty much have to go during crowded times, so we don't know anything any different. We don't do rope drop every day, but several times during a 10 day trip. It frees up so much time for the rest of the day.

Walt Disney would have told you to always feel free to ride Dumbo - with or without a kid present. :)

Magic Kingdom con't.

After Goofy's, it's about 9. Our ressie for CP is 10. So, we decide to go on boat trip with our favorite pirate, Captain Jack! We headed over, taking in sights along the way, and basically walked on this ride too. I think it said 10 minute wait but we didn't wait but maybe 2-3 minutes. No pictures, sorry! We shopped in the store when we got off. My kids love this store! Ben was in search of a hat but they only had one and we didn't like it. Ellie got a stuffed dog-like the one in the ride holding keys. He's too cute! She also got a chunky Mickey Head bracelet. Pictures of these things will come up later! While we were shopping, John ran for BTMRR fast passes.

We left POTC and began heading towards Crystal Palace. It was still early but we didn't really have time to go far. As we walked by Jungle Cruise it had a 5 minute wait! Score! We walked right on to a boat. We hadn't ridden this for years so the kids really enjoyed it.
This was our driver. She was just "ok"
DSC_0065.jpg

I made sure to mention to Ellie that all the critters on this ride were fake, unlike the safari at AK. She acted so insulted " I KNOW that mom!" Excuse me!;)

After our trip through the jungle, it was about 9:40 so we decided to just head over to CP to check in.

We chatted with a nice CM who checked us in. He was from Norfolk, which is about 20 minutes from us. The people behind us checking in were from Chesapeake which is the next city over. It was fun!

We waited no more than 5 minutes and they took us in to our seats. We had a nice table near the window. I liked being able to look outside!
DSC_0086.jpg

The characters were on the other side of the restaurant so we had plenty of time to get food. I didn't do good on the food pictures this trip but got some of our first plates here.

Ellie loved the chocolate Mickey waffle here and those french toast puffs...mmmmm.:cloud9:

Tigger was our first character.

Followed shortly by these 2.

DSC_0088.jpg

We then got several more plates and stuffed ourselves silly. Well, except my little bird, Ellie. She ate her cheese, grapes, and Mickey waffle. Finally our last friend joined us.
DSC_0090.jpg

We all really enjoyed this breakfast buffet. We've had dinner here before and we liked breakfast better. My one complaint is that none of the characters were very interactive. They came up, signed, and posed. Not even Tigger was very playful. When we were here for dinner Tigger was bunches of fun. I tried to engage him but he just giggled and walked on. The restaurant was busy but not every table was filled. Maybe they are like that in peak season.:confused3

Now that our bellies were FULL, what would we do???

Welcome!! Thanks for joining in! It'll be neat to see if our paths crossed.

We were at the MK our first full day, which was 4/7. I agree, it was definitely worth getting up early even though we were up early the day before for our flight out!

I love starting a MK day with a breakfast at CP! :goodvibes We've done that several times, so we thought we'd try the dinner for our trip in May.

Lots to comment on....

1. VWL after this summer will be our last DVC at the world to try, and we will need to remedy this. It's just hard to give up the Epcot area....
2. Empty park, Dumbo w/o a line. Now that is some magic! I would love to see that just one time.
3. Conversation with Alice. So cute!
4. You got so much done, yes time for a nap!:thumbsup2

Some of our best mornings have been just like that at the MK!!! When you get one it is heaven!!! We have had a few like that and you are right, it is amazing!!! I love getting a chance to ride with Peter Pan and in Pooh's hunny pot back to back! It is like a kid with a secret on days like that! Secret fun! And you do feel funny, like you are missing something!!! Where IS everybody??!! BUT I don't ask for long, I just keep getting on!!!

You got some create morning castle pics... pretty. :goodvibes

Totally worth it! But, we were exhausted by the end.

Mmmmmm, french toast puffs!

I know, right? Let's hop some planes and meet for breakfast!:goodvibes

I think you'll like the dinner. I'm picky... They have some super yummy desserts!:thumbsup2

You really need to give VWL a try. If even for just a couple of nights. It's so calm and relaxing.

I couldn't imagine seeing Dumbo with no line. Sometimes I still can't believe it. The batch that rode behind us wasn't half full!

Alice was really fun. Ellie just kept giggling.

Thanks about the pictures. I thought the sun coming up would be neat on the castle.
We've had mornings where we've been able to go from ride to ride but never quite like that. Not even on our January trips was there no line for anything. I wish they opened at 7 in the summer!

I sure do miss you having a TR going.

I miss Rinky having a TR too!:goodvibes

We did rope drop every day except one last summer I think. It really does give you much more time in the afternoon/evening to do some other things. It helps that most of us are morning people. Ellie just conforms because it's Disney!

You're right about Dumbo MeMom and I will remember that!:goodvibes

I really want to finish up our Magic Kingdom part of this day. It's going to be a busy week at school...

We left Crystal Palace weighing more than we did when we went in by far. We had two sets of fastpasses so as we walked we talked about which we were going to use first. Ellie had promised that she would try BTMRR this trip. She wasn't excited but she didn't back out. She refused to ride Splash again (she rode last summer). The big hill does her in because she enjoyed the rest of the ride. Anyhoo, I thought that riding BTMRR first would be best and so we headed there. We probably had a 5 minute wait in the FP line. I haven't ridden this in years. I really enjoyed it. Ellie did not.:sad2: She hid her head under my arm the whole way and was crying by the end. I don't see where this ride is a big deal, or much more than Goofy's Barnstormer.:confused3 But, she tried it so John and I will continue to take turns sitting out with her.

John volunteered to sit out of Splash so Ben and I headed over to ride. I  this ride! Again, we waited less than 5 minutes in the FP line. We got the front of the log. Ben was thrilled! The ride did not disappoint and we didn't get that wet. Just enough to cool off. Perfect.:cloud9:

We exited and found John and Ellie. Frontierland was packed! We had promised Ben earlier he could do the shooting range so we headed there. While they were playing I walked around and scoped a spot because the parade was getting ready to begin. We didn't see this parade last year so I was looking forward to it. Much nicer standing in the sun in early April than mid/late June.

Right after the parade we felt like some haunting was in order so off we went. We all love this ride!
Posted wait time was 20 minutes standby. I bet we waited 10...or less.

By now the kids were itching to do some swimming so we made our way to the front. Stopped in some shops along the way and then did some shopping in the Emporium.
The Christmas shop.

I looked for Tiana and Naveen but couldn't find them.
You can see the scrim on the castle in this photo.

I liked these little guys. Ellie got one pack of them our last day in DTD. There you can exchange duplicates for ones you already have.
DSC_0134-1.jpg

Ben got a hat in the Emporium also. I got earrings and Ellie got a necklace. I need to take pictures of those. You'll see Ben's hat in future pictures!
We decided to take this back to WL.

It was a great end to an absolutely wonderful morning and afternoon at Magic Kingdom!:goodvibes
Up next: The rest of the afternoon and evening. Who wears out and changes our plans??

Awwww, I'm sorry Ellie didn't like BTMRR, but at least she tried it :thumbsup2

Love the parade pics, one of these days I'll actually sit and watch a Disney parade ;) It looks like it was a gorgeous day!

I'm sure that she will eventually enjoy Big Thunder it's just not her time yet...
Sorry there were tears involved.:sad1:

Your breakfast did look delicious though!
