I think so too D' not sure what the rates will be for July but if I budget really well I may be able to pull off 2 maybe 3 nights Just checked the website if I booked 2 nights right now it would be $274 3 nights about $350 ? will have to get in touch with Fred and tell him he needs approval for the dates asap
Otherwise I have to just sit on my hands

I think there are summer discounts out there too? Not sure if POP qualifies though.

yes that was with a 15 % discount I think the mods/deluxes have a 30 % disc that time period....still out of the budget though....tell me about Shades of Green or any military discount any other resorts did the vet have to be war time ?

so looked into SOG and although DH is a vet (USAF) doesn't meet any of the qualifications Still leaning toward POP but just out of curiousity started looking at the resorts at DTD/Hotel Plaza and Palm Pkwy They seem to be running pretty decent rates for mid July not sure what I'm going to do yet

Thanks Ruth yes you are right about that we'll see what happens lots of other things going on right now to really think about anything,,,,we'll see, haven't had a REAL vacation since 2008

So happy you get a vacation!!! totally deserved!!! Running.. Umm NO. Unless there is a man with a chain saw i am NOT running. Or unless i am late for dinner!

If I could run I'd be right there with you for the marathon. Unfortunately, I broke my ankle very badly 10 years ago and I can't run at all. If I need to go fast it's more of a hop/skip because I don't have full motion in that ankle. I was doing dance programs like Zumba (modified so I wasn't using the ankle too much) to stay in shape but started having some serious problems with my hip on the same side as the bad ankle. So now I just ride a stationary bike each night.

I realized too that I will actually be at Disney the week before the marathon. My cousin's getting married on Feb 10th at Sea Breeze Point so we will be there Feb 8th - 14th. As of right now it looks like there will be close to 40 people coming for the wedding. Luckily I'm just in charge of planning for me, Mom, Brother & SIL. I'm still trying to get DH to come just for the wedding but as of right now he's doing the "I'm going there in October, you're not dragging me back again four months later".

All of your plans for July sound great. I'm sure where ever you end up you will have a great time. DH & I are staying at POP in October. He picked there because he in permenantly stuck in the 80s and therefore wants to stay in that section.

a few updates:

as some of you know my Aunt Mary (in her early 80's) had leg surgery on Thurs she had a problem with blood flow (not a diabetic but has been through much in the past year, a simple splinter entering her foot became infected when after it was removed a teeny piece of dog hair...and she is am immaculate housekeeper...got in there and caused an infection.....) fast forward from there, she had 2 surgeries resulting in the loss of 2 toes...this is her 3rd surgery

Between the pain, the 4 to 6 hr surgery and a problem stabilizing her BP I have been a wreck and my cousin up there is carrying a lot by herself Times like this I HATE living so far away....anyway God willing she will come through this and THEN I am planning to get up there the next time Fred is home...its been too long and its time'

Please add Aunt Mary to your thoughts and prayers

I am coming along eating Bayer Back & Body every 6 hrs like Jelly Beans and slithering around with Bio-Freeze like a filly in training for the race of a life-time (or in my case walking...baby steps baby steps)

Soooo MY PTR will now concentrate on sharing the remainder of Fred being home, plans for NY July(the word plans is starting to make me cringe.....maybe just need to call them hopes & dreams), meeting D' Dee and T ? in Aug and then the additional Dismeet Oct

Will update when I can and OH ! Have a partner for the Princess 1/2 marathon (who runs BIG marathons all the times and is a sweetheart and so helpful to me) one of my dear Physical Therapists, who gets me over the hump all the time (HE is a real Prince !)

What is really odd, is that we were having a discussion at lunch (you'd have to be there to actually hear some of these discussions!) about splinters and the damage they can cause.

I hope your trip to NY in July works out. Depending on the dates, I might be able to plan a trip to NY at the same time. I need to go visit my youngest dd anyway and want to see my oldest dd's goddaughter on Broadway (Matilda) if the timing works out. Kate (the oldest dd) was in NYC this past weekend and saw her gd perform and said she cried during the curtain call!

BTW - I'll be at WDW in September - you can come have a piece of birthday cake with me!

Have been pricing between Orlando and JFK (preferred) or Orlando and Macarthur in Islip (hate that ittty bitty airport JetBlue doesn't go there and they are my favorite BUT depending on fares, we'll see right now cheap if I want to go via tim-buck-two with hour long layovers but direct non-stop is through the roof

Someday would love to join you for the gds performance and lunch at The Pig & Whistle if you've never been its a must !! http://www.pignwhistlets.com/ simply amazing, atmosphere, food, terrific and a family tradition every time we ventured "into the city"

Where does DD live? I've got the youngest in Selden, but Aunt is staying at cousins' in Hauppauge (has been pretty much since Hurricane Sandy and all the physical issues started too)
I will definitely take you up on the BD cake though

Yeah helluva thing with the splinter and especially the teeniest finest piece of microscopic dog hair, it makes me paranoid sometimes I am constantly stubbing toes, pulling splinters out of my feet, we have 7 dogs and I am NOT the housekeeper my Aunt is reminds us all to be careful

I've never been to the Pig & Whistle! My dd (I call her Shannon, she calls herself Izze ) lives in Astoria and works in Manhattan.
