A Stinky Situation

Over the last few weeks, I've found dog poop bags in my yard that were apparently tossed over the fence. It's disgusting and I hate cleaning up other people's responsibilities. A couple bags have burst and the contents were scattered on my lawn.

The sidewalk by my house is very popular with dog walkers. Most people are good citizens and clean up after their dogs, and take the poop home. I think this is the work of one particular bad apple. I want to catch the culprit but unless I stand watch at the window 24/7, I don't think it's possible. Any advice or ideas about how to deal with this problem? Thanks!

People are such pigs! How rude and disrespectful!

What about a security camera on or near the fence? If you don't want to spend that much $$, how about one of those fake cameras? You could then put up a sign saying security camera in use.

You live in Jersey? If you do I'll lend you my DH. Very few people pick up after their dogs in my neighborhood. After stepping in other people's dog crap one too many times, DH spent about a week watching out the window. Anytime anyone's dog started to do their business on our lawn he was out there screaming at them. There was definitely one person that was a repeat offender.

Needless to say, it's been a good year since any strange dog has crapped in our yard. In fact, most people walk their dogs on the other side of the street now.

I think I will try the security camera option if this continues. I wonder if I can use my webcam in some sort of surveillance setup. Does anyone have any experience with that?

Just throw a security camera up there without hooking it up. Chances are they won't question if it is working.

We actually did this about 2 years ago....but we put up a WORKING one. We never needed it though, as once the camera went up....no more poop in the yard.

We still have the camera, in case we ever need it again.

It's a shame you can't sit in your yard waiting for a bag to be chucked over only to quickly return fire, hitting the person with it!
