A spoonful of sugar helps me to keep my mouth shut!

What a terrible evening! :( I'm so sorry to hear about how poorly that family was treated. I can tell it was very tough on you too. I hope your vacation gets better from here.

The next morning was Sunday, and before going to sleep, I arranged for a 7:00 am wake up call, with the reminder to everyone to everyone that this was another ADR that would charge my credit card if we didn't show up for the adr. I had made this adr because it was requested by both Cruella and Pirate. It was the only adr they had requested.
I went to bed and pretended to fall asleep, only because I didn't feel as light hearted as the other three were acting.Even after they all fell asleep,I still was awake.Aside from my mind being restless,I was listening to another night of Cruella snoring..lol.

I talk to God daily, and that night,I brought my concerns to him.And he spoke to me about forgiveness.I knew what I had to do. So the next morning, when the alarm went off,I tried as hard as I could to get back into my Disney mood and be determined that we would all get along and enjoy ourselves.
I got up,and since I had showered the night before,I got ready to go. Everyone else was up and ready pretty quickly as well, and I was impressed.Everyone had showered the night before and it helped speed things up for us all this morning.I suppose my little reminder when the wake up call came about being ready and there on time probaly helped too. The events of the night before seemed to have only affected me ,because everyone else was talkative and in a good mood,so I tried to leave the bad memory behind me and get in a good mood.In the back of my mind,I was hoping that maybe Cruella had wished it never had happened as well.
We all caught the bus to Epcot and were in the park before the opening. The characters came out and we were in the front of the line to greet them.

Since our adr time wasn't until 9:30,I figured we would have time to stop at Soarin and pick up fast passes before heading over to Norway. However as we were standing there,dd asks me since we were in the front, could we maybe try to get in a quick ride on Soarin first and get fast passes for later, and then head to Norway? I was about to tell her I didn't think it was a good idea, but one of the cast members standing there heard her and told her that we probaly could do that, because the PSB was running about 15 minutes behind already. So,I decided that we would go for it if we could get in line right away ,but if we had alot of people ahead of us,we would just get the fast passes for later.
Well, the cast members leads us all to Soarin, and I have to say,a person really needs to be careful and make sure they don't trip and fall to the ground. I was afraid if I did,I would literally get run over by the stampede behind us..lol..But we managed to keep our pace and stayed to the front the whole way.The exception was a teenage boy who cut in front of me,and that was one thing, but once we were in line,he tried to bring three other people who were further back up with him. I wouldn't have said anything over it,but it did frustrate me a bit.Thankfully though, their was another cm standing by who told them if they wanted to be together, they had to go to the back of the line. We got on the first ride, but it wasn't in the front middle section as I hoped,so I decided that for our next ride,we would ask to wait for that, since I wanted Pirate and Cruella to experience the ride int he best way. They still ended up really loving that ride. We grabbed our fast passes and hightailed it over to Norway.By the time we got there,we were already sweating. It was going to be another scorcher that day.
I checked us in,and we were only 4 minutes late, but ended up waiting another six more minutes before getting called to our table. When we went in,there was a family trying to get in with an ADR,and they were checking to see if there was a table available for them.I thought how maybe it wouldn't have been in our best intrest to have risked going on Soarin first, but lucky,we made it and everything turned out fine!

The girls and Belle,my dd's favorite princess.

I enjoyed the breakfast, although I really think they don't give enough food on one platter to feed a family. We had four people, and we each took a very small portion of everything each time.We really didn't have trouble though getting another platter,so I guess it wasn't that big a deal.We all ate a good breakfast, and enjoyed meeting each princess as she stopped by.

Both the castle and the PSB breakfast give free photos with Cinderella (CRT) and Belle( PSB). Kaitlyn (might as well use her real name now as I already used it by mistake in a previous post..haha) has always loved Belle. The girls made an agreement that Kylie(formerly known as Pirate) would keep the free Cinderella picture from the castle, sice that is who she wanted, and Kaitlyn would keep the Belle one. They would each get a smaller picture of the princess they didn't gett he larger one of.
So anyway,Kylie already had her Cinderella photo package. When Kaitlyn recieved the Belle package, she had the brilliant idea(all on her own,I might add) of asking each princess to autograph the other side of the cardboard picture frame. This put Kylie in bad spirits though for awhile, but she quickly recovered.I felt bad for her because this was her first trip. But at the same time,I also felt bad for Kaitlyn because she had never had the chance to get these princesses autographs either yet. And it was her photo package.I asked the server if they happened to have a peice of paper, and she was so nice, and came back with a blank peice of photo paper, what they use to print the smaller photos for the package. Kylie wasn't too thrilled with that though when she saw how nice Kaitlyns frame was looking with all the princess'ss autographs on it,so she didn't want to get thier autographs at all then. My attitude was oh well then.
Kaitlyn decided to make use of the blank photo paper and ask Jasmine to sign it then for one of her friends back home. The waitress also took Kaitlyns photo frame to Belle, and asked her to sign it as well, which was really nice of her to do that I thought.
Anyway, after breakfast,we left and headed back towards Mexico,to wait for World Showcase to open in a few minutes. It was hot outside, and I heard a few complaints about it,as if I could do anything to change that! I was getting so tired of hearing the whinning and complaining about the heat by now.
Anyway,we all head into the Mexican flea market and look around. Cruella liked it in here because she could shop and be cool.

I finally spent the first of my souveneir money so I could buy the girls a passport.Kaitlyn had never done it before and I wanted to surprise them with it.They really enjoyed doing it too.We did spend quite some time there, and I was getting bored after awhile,so I went to find a place to sit and call dh.He asked how things were going after last night, and I told him things felt a bit strained, but that I thought we were each trying our best to get along at least.
Finally everyone was done shopping, and we rode the ride in Mexico before leaving. Then we proceeded back over to Norway to look around and take some pictures in there.

Going to continue this in the next post immediately coming up.

When we got to Japan,I mentioned that I wanted to do the pick a pearl. I had been given some Disney money for a gift from my best friend earlier in the summer, and I intended to use it for that.So I picked a pearl, and had it made into a buttefly necklace, which was perfect as the buttefly has special meaning to the friend who gave me the disney money and I.
The girls decided they wanted to pic a pearl as well, and they each had thiers made into a necklace too. They all turned out very nice.Kylie also bought a tshirt and someother things there.
Here is Kaitlyn picking her pearl.

When we got to China,I wanted to buy my best friend a special gift there because she loves oriental things. I bought her a pretty tea set, which was perfect for her,and had it sent back to our room. Wish I had thought to take a picture of it,but I didn't,and she has it now.She loved it.

We continued on to France, where everyone realized they were famished.I managed to get this one picture of Kaitlyn,in all her grumpiness,(she gets really cranky when she gets hungry...lol) before the whole where does everyone want to eat dilemma began. I regret not planning out our lunch here better, but I really thought it would be easy to grab counter service from wherever.... it has always been easy before, but nobody could agree on anything, and I was trying to keep us all staying together.
File0151.jpg
[/IMG]

The girls also were complaining that they wanted to go back ,eat in Mexico and then go ride Soarin again. After that, they wanted to go swimming ,so I started thinking we should just head back now,as the plan was to do only half of the World showcase today anyway. Then we could stop in Mexico or China ,and grab something to eat there.

However Cruella wanted to continue on,as she was really getting into going to each country and shopping there.Suddenly she pipes up,"I'm gonna make a call here. You girls go back and eat where you want to ,and we will continue on,and meet you back at the resort."
The girls seemed really happy with that plan. They had been wanting to spend time by themselves and hanging around thier moms was not thier idea of fun. I figured going on wasn't in what I had planned for that evening, but I really didn't mind changing plans. It was Cruellas vacation too,and she seemed to be behaving alot better today.Even the complaining had stopped once she realized she was having fun shopping. So we continued on over to the UK,while the girls headed to Mexico for counter service. Cruella and I had fish and chips in the UK, and then spent the rest of the afternoon touring the remaining countries and shopping.

We had company while we were eating our late lunch.

Finally we finished touring the countries and headed back to Future World.
On the way out,we rode Soarin again, and got the first row, middle section, without even asking for it! Then we went to Mouse Gears, and whoa..we spent quite a long time there, and I got so bored that I started spending some money in there then too. haha. And I will admit, because of the day having gone pretty well ,and my plans had been laid to the die anyway,I had fun shopping there too. Especially when I bought myself some of my favorit cherry sour candy.Yum. On the way out,we stopped to ride Space ship Earth.Cruella didn't realize there was a ride in there and didn't believe me,so I had to proove it.
We caught a bus back to our resort, where we found the girls getting ready to go to the Magic Kingdom for extra magic hours. I envied them so much then.I really wanted to go with them so bad,but my poor feet were screaming by this time, and I knew I wouldn't make it.It was the only extra magic hour night we would be there too,so I was sad,but I knew it was my own fault. I chose to go on with Cruella rather then come back and rest up for the night. The girls however were thrilled. They were getting to go off by themselves again.lol
But just at that moment,Cruella had one of her moments again.
She says"Kylie,I want you home by 11:30."
Well, the girls were already getting a late start to the extra magic hours. It was almost 9:00 pm then.By the time they got to the MK,it would be close to 9:30. So I just mentioned that it would be alright for them to stay until it ended at 12,that they would be safe.Kaitlyn and my older dd have done this before, with no problems.
Cruella's response to me was,"Fine, Kaitlyn can stay out until 12,but Kylie is my daughter, and I want her back here,no later then 11:30."
That ticked me off some.I know she has the right to set the rules for her dd,but really, her dd is 17 and Kaitlyn is almost 17,and we were on Disney property,They weren't going to get into trouble there! But what really frustrated me was that she seemed to have no problem "making a call "earlier in the day, when she decided that my dd could leave us and go back with her daughter when they wanted to leave Epcot. I could have easily have said then,"No,Kaitlyn is going to stay here with me,(because I really don't want to spend any time with you alone...haha) but I didn't say that, even though I did take offense at the time that she decided she could give my dd permission.

It almost made no sense for them to even bother going. My feeling is if you can't trust your 17 year old in Disney World ,how are you going to manage when they are away on thier own in college? I don't ever let Kaitlyn out that late just to hang out,but come on,this was a vacation in Disney World, and it was special. I trust my daughter to go to the Magic Kingdome and then catch the bus back to our resort when the extra magic hours are over.It isn"t complicated.

I had an adr for The Plaza at MK that night ,but since we stayed longer in Epcot, I knew we weren't going to make that adr,and had called to cancel it earlier. But now we were getting hungry again,so we walked up to the foodcourt and got some dinner there, which turned out to be pretty tasty too. Cruella had the roast beef platter, and I had the chicken and ribs platter, and for a counter service meal,it was a good value. For our drinks,we got apple juice for in the morning, and we shared them with the girls for breakfast the next morning.
Then we went to the resorts store, so that Cruella could pick up the merchandise from the day before at Hollywood Studios, and I picked up Kaitlyn's mug.The girls had been there earlier and didn't think of it.So we ask for our packages, giving our names, and that's when we learned our dd's had become well known with the staff in the resort store already. When we asked for the packages ,the guy behind the register says"
"Oh,your Kaitlyn and Kylies moms."

So I say "Yesss...depending on why you want to know? What did they do? " Just joking of course, because the girls are good kids.
Then another lady near by him say."Oh,you mean those two girls who were in here earlier?"
The guy says"Yes....those two girls who were video taping me,"
She starts laughing, and Cruella and I are looking at each other, wondering what our dd's had been up to that was so funny. The guy was no where near thier age,and probaly a father
himself,so he couldn"t have been a "soy lanka"
"Do we need to apologize for them for anything"I ask them. I am thinking our dd's must have been speaking in thier secret code language or something."
They both chime in."Oh,no,they were just goofing off with us. They are a fun pair. They were amussing us,is all."
The woman says," Kaitlyn was telling Kylie about the time your family was here and someone stole a dream fast pass from her and her sister when some people cut in front of them in line.We over heard them taking turns and talking to the camera about it and we thought it was so funny. So we gave them a dream to make up for it."
Oh..I see" I say, laughing ,because I remembered the scandal both my dd's made over it when it happened
."What dream did they get?" I ask.
"Oh,we gave them one of these."
The guy walks over and shows us what the girls got. They each got a pool noodle!
I laughed at that. Maybe you had to be there, but it was funny to me..I think they are probaly the only two people who have ever won pool noodles as a dream giveaway.lol
The lady says,"Oh,those two are hilarious. They had everyone in the store laughing."
The guy behind the register says,"Yeah...they are quite the charmers. "

So we leave then, with our packages, and go back to the room, happy and talking about our dd's and wondering just what was on the video tape they had made with the store people. I love the fact that my dd is such a fun loving person with a good heart, and that even strangers see it and respond to that. She really is a character, and so is Kylie, and when they are together, they just are double the fun.

We get back to the room, and by 11:30,our dd's call, and say they are on thier way, that the bus is dropping off at Riverside first. They did that alot during our trip too. What is up with that now anyway?

So the girls get back, and everyone showers and gets ready for bed. All in all,it was a pretty decent day. A moment or two of some frustrating moments, but considering Cruella and I have different personality types,I figured that is to be expected. I go to bed and think maybe things will work out after all.

Sounds like a buch better day! I really enjoyed reading it.

i've really enjoyed reading your trip report, sorry you've had a bad time with Cruella (love the name!!), i hope things get better and you have some good Disney memories. can't wait to hear more xx

Epcot day seemed to go a little better! I hope it keeps looking up, but I'm betting it doesn't...Ugh! It's so hard to forgive sometimes, even when we know we HAVE to. You are a good person for trying!! :thumbsup2

Thanks Meeko! It started off somewhat strained, but got easier as the day wore on,and I think it was all the Disney distractions that helped..lol. There were a few moments here and there, but really the day did go alot better then I was afraid it would.

I saw your signature...your sooo lucky to go to Disney so many times in one year! I am going to start your reading your trip report next, and I can't wait!

Thanks for joining in Tinkerbelle mum! Even though it wasn't the trip I had hoped for,I do have to say I did come back with some good memories, and lessons learned!

Epcot day did go better then I would have imagined after everything happened that second night. As far as forgivness,I am trying, and probaly still working on it somewhat. I have to forgive, because I know I have been forgiven by Christ.
Also, I knew I had to at least make the best of the situation I was in though. One for my daughter, and her friendship with Kylie.
And even for Kylie herself. Could you have imagined what that girls first trip to Disney would have been like if I had taken up on my dh offer? Both the girls would have been so miserable. And thay had been looking forward and so excited for this trip together. I couldn't do that to them.
Besides all that, I realized that ultimatley, it was up to me whether I had a good time on this trip or not. And I determined to myself that I was going to enjoy myself, whether she did or not.Grated ,sometimes it was hard...:rotfl2:

Sounds like your day went a little better then the night before.
I agree with you about lettingDD stay longer at EMH in MK. The only thing Iwouldn't let my DD and her friend do alone was Downtown Disney.

The pool noodle dream, I bet that just made the girls day. My DD became fast friends with a lot of CM's at Pop, she is still friends with some of the younger college girls through myspace. She got a lot of free sundaes at the Pop cafe and a free refillable mug when she told a CM she lost hers.

Seems like you and I are alot alike when it comes to letting things slide, I can't tell you how many times I said to myself on this trip, "Well, it's her vacation too." I missed out on a lot of things I would have liked to do because of it.

I wanted it to be a mother/daughter trip but I spent most of the time without my DD, and DD's friends mom actually kept urgin gthe girls to go do their own thing, and when I complained finally I was told to relax before I ruin everyones vacation.

I am so understanding you and this TR, I can feel your frustration, but hey, live and learn, and at least we know we can at some point go back to Disney and have a do over.

Keep on keeping on with this TR. I can't wait to read more.

Today was our Animal Kingdom day.Since the girls had come back from extra magic hours at the MK, and we had waited up for them, and then taken showers yet,we all got to bed a little before one. So I set the alarm for eight thirty.I had already figured that we would get a late start to a park this morning, because extra magic hours had been the plan for the night before.
So the alarm went off the next morning, but I seemed to be the only one who wanted to get up.So I got ready in no time, and because no one was up yet, decided to hook up to the internet and check my email, and send some pictures to my dh. I did this for a little while, and finally Kaitlyn wakes up and gets ready, and she begins messes with Kylie so she soon wakes up too. And then we all start talking louder and making noise ,hoping to wake up Cruella. Instead she tells us all to lower the noise! It was almost a quarter to ten by this time!

Well,I was getting annoyed just waiting all this time for her to get up and ready,so I think about going to the food court for some breakfast and taking the girls with me.At the same time though, this worried me,because if we did that,Cruella would probaly sleep even longer. So I mention it to Kylie,if she would like to go with us to eat breakfast and then head on over to Animal Kingdom awhile, and I tell Cruella she can call us when she gets there to meet us. Well,Cruella didn't like that at all. She gets up in a nasty mood, telling Kylie she isn't going anywhere without her and she can just wait for her." Then she heads to the bathroom.
I am thinking,"Good Lord, please not another bad day, please."
I whisper to Kaity,"let's just go awhile."
But Kaitlyn looks over to Kylie, who is texting a friend, and not looking happy at all.
So I say,Kaity,I need to go check on those MNSSHP tickets, come with me so I have company." I give her the look that tells her she has no choice but to follow.
We walk to the concierge desk, and I am trying to explain to Kaity that she needs to keep in mind that this is a mother daughter trip too,and not just a Kaity/ Kylie trip. That I planned this trip to spend time with her,so we were going to go back to our room, get our things and head out to AK awhile, and we would meet them when they called.
Kaitlyn tells me that Kylie doesn't want to spend much time alone with her mom either."
I guess I am a pushover, because I say I understand that, and I do feel bad for the kid. I know her history though, and it is too long and personal to go into here, but I really do feel like a second mom to her,and she has confided things to me,so really,I can't in good conscience just walk off with my dd and actually enjoy our free time at the AK as I want to,knowing that I left her there to face her mothers wrath because of it.
So I agree that we will wait for Cruella. Maybe I am just being too much a commando, always going, going, going? I didn't think so,but....

At the concierge desk,I inquire about the MNSSHP tickets, and they had some left for the very first party of the season. Friday was going to be mother/daughter day,and I wanted to find something special for my dd and I to do.I really wanted to go too. So I order two,and am about to pay, when Kaitlyn tells me she really doesn't want to go to the party. She says she thinks it is too much money to spend on the tickets. I tell her I worked it in our budget and had plenty. But she still didn't want to go.She says she just doesn"t get into the MK enough to pay that much extra.
So I was bummed and didn't buy the tickets. I asked her what did she want to do. She said,"let's just see what we feel like doing when the time comes."
Well,I wasn't too thrilled with that, but as long as we had the day together,I really didn"t care what we did either, and I told her that.

Back at the room,Cruella was still getting ready, and it was almost 11 by this time.We sat and waited another 20 minutes or so,and finally she was ready, but complaining she was hungry and wanted to stop and eat at the food court yet. I say "well,I really want to eat at Flame tree Barbeque, and since we didn"t go the other night,I was thinking of just waiting and getting lunch there. The girls and I weren't really that hungry because while we were waiting,we snacked on some of the breakfast food we had brought.I suggested she grab something and take it with her to eat.So she did,and finally we are walking to catch a bus, until she gets tot he check in desks and makes another stop to complain about why her hat hadn't been found yet. I was looking in the store at bracelet charms,Kaity was thinking of buying, but then I made the mistake of walking over to Cruella, trying to see what the problem was now.She was taking longer then I wanted her to.When I got there, she was talking to the cast members with a snooty:snooty: and unpleasant attitude, and I felt bad for them. She saw me there and started making remarks about the lousy lost and found system Disney has,but in a louder tone, making sure they would hear. I really hated when she treated people like this, and she seemed to do it alot. I had just been ther earlier, and everyone was no nice, and now they were seeing me there with her. I turned, and went back to join the girls, and was debating whether I should just catch the bus with Kaity after all, when Cruella comes up from behind.
Finally we are ready to catch a bus! And when I think about it,we really didn't detour off of my plans too much. My original plan was that we would have a more relaxed morning and get to AK around this time anyway. It was then that I realized,I needed to back off pushing everyone too.
I don't intend to do it,but I get frustrated sitting in a hotel room,no matter where we are,for any legnth of time. I guess I get bored and restless, and just want to get going and do something.

Anyway,we arrive at AK a little after 12,and as we are walking in,Cruella spots a little store, even before we get to the entrance itself! She heads over there to get a hat,as she is still griping about loosing her hat. We spent almost a half hour in there, while she looked for the right hat.I decided I would get one as well,as my head had burned the day before, and I find one in less then five minutes. Well, after she looked for a hat for almost half an hour, she decideds to buy the exact same hat I bought, when we first entered.I didn't mind her buying the same hat...I minded her wasting all that time looking and then still getting the same hat we saw when we first got there.

Finally we enter the park, and right away, she begins to take lots of pictures of the animals and birds that you see when you first enter. So that took some time. The girls were getting really gretzy and impatient now. They just wanted to get on Mount Everest already!

Cruella was really in no hurry though, since she doesn't do roller coasters, and she kept stopping, finding more pictures she wanted to take,so I told her to take her time, and we would just walk over to Mount Everest, and she could meet us there. She had a map.:rotfl: I didn't hold anything against her for wanting to take pictures, because it was her vacation too,and she could do what she wanted.I understood wanting to take pictures in a place like this park, never having been there before and all,so I had no problem with that, but the girls couldn't care less ,and I had enough scenery pictures already at home,so I was as anxious as the girls :thumbsup2
So off we went. The line was about a 15 to 20 minute wait, not too sure, but it didn't feel like we waited very long, thankfully. The girls got the front seat, and were thrilled over that, and I sat right behind them.
When we came out,Cruella was waiting for us,eating a popsicle. That made me realize we forgot to eat lunch,so I mentioned it to everyone, and the girls really wanted to ride dinosaur first. I did too,so off we went that way. It was leterally a walk on!I have to say,not to seem as if I am advertising for Tour Guide Mike, but I follwed his plans when I figured out what park we would go to each day,and it really did pay off! We hardly had any lines. I think the week we went was helpful too,as it seemed everyone who was going for free dining had either gone earlier at the start of it,before school started,or they were planning to go in September. The schools where we live didn't start until Sept 8th,and I wanted to book this trip before the start of school, since the girls are seniors now,and it wouldn't be good for them to take off.Anyway,I think I picked a great week. We hardly had crowds unless we were in DTD,or when it got closer to Labor Day weekend.
Anyway, the girls rode Dinasaur twice,I rode only once because I had to go to the rest room.Cruella didn't ride at all,and took picturesinstead, and then went to get a cup of coffee. When the girls were done thier second ride,we all decided to go get lunch.Well,I was looking at the map because I forgot where Flame tree barbeque was exactly, and that is when Cruella finds Rain Forest Cafe. She wants to go eat lunch there she says.
So I go into the whole adr thing again, and that Rain Forest Cafe doesn't take dining credits, blah, blah, blah. Well, the girls want to go there too,and next thing I know,we are heading there and asking if they have room for us. And they do. Seriously,I wasn't thrilled over going here at all.It was screwing up my plans again. I had an adr for Whispering Canyon for 6:40 that night, and we had these dining credits to use,and now we had topay out of pocket again, and we really didn't need another table service at this time.Don't get me wrong, had she actually told me she wanted to eat here when I was planning the trip,I would have gladly worked it into our schedule, but now it was just throwing everything off!
Anyway,we order, and have our lunch, and Cruella gets her cocktail, and now she begins to be happy and more relaxed again. After our lunch, with a price that got Cruella all tensed up again, we end up in the gift store, where we spend another eternity shopping. Kaitlyn and I got bored so we began taking pictures again.(Which I will upload before the next post, since I seem to have forgotten to upload those photobucket for some reason)
Cruella did have a moment of nice here however,as she bought Kaitlyn and Kylie each a t-shirt.I was shocked, especially after her complaints about our very expensive lunch.
After lunch,we head to ride the safari, and then we do A Bugs Life. On the way out, I see the Flights of Wonder show, and mention I want to do that.
The girls decide to skip on that, and they go get a drink while Cruella and I go in.
When the show was over, the girls want to head back to our resort and swim for awhile. I really didn't want to go just yet,but I also knew we had a dinner adr at Whispering Canyon, and I wanted to freshen up before then.So we all head back to the resort, and the girls swim for awhile, and Cruella gets her shower first, and I get mine, and we get ready for dinner.
Until,Cruella doesn't understand why we are going to another resort to have dinner when we could just stay in ours and eat. And relax. Oh boy!
And the girls, they just wanted to go to DTD and go to Disney Quest again!

Now,I took a bit of offense at this moment here, and kind of lost it. I was annoyed because I really wanted to go to Whispering Canyon. Actually,I really wanted to go to all the adr's I had set up. It was me who had gotten up at 6:30 am on our 90 day mark, and it was me who would search the online reservation system in search of getting the places we wanted,or switching things around to fit the parks we would be in,ect..and to be honest,I booked this trip in part because of the free dining. Normally when my family comes,we eat at the same places, because my dh and dd's are very picky eaters.I have always wanted to try places like Boma, and Ohana's,ect.
Okay anyway,I was frustrated and just went with the moment, and cancelled the adr.And I still regret doing that.
So the girls head off to DTD,which made me even more annoyed at them, because it seemed they would always leave me with Cruella. I wanted them to have a wonderul trip together, and I know they took advantage of that somewhat.
So I was sitting on the bed, pouting a bit,and decided I was going to go out somewhere. Then Cruella decideds to join me too, because she is bored after all! Well,of course our adr is cancelled ,and now she decides she wants to go out somewhere after all!
I tell her I am going to just go over to explore Hollywood Studios some more. So we head over there, and again, she wants to look in some stores. We are in the park for less then an hour, and it begins to rain...no I mean pour! And thunder and lightning. We had just left the store, when the rain come, but luckily,we are close to another,so we duck inside and she looks around that store then, but I don't mind this time so much since it was coming down really hard outside. It lasted for awhile,so then we dash across the street and join the rest of the park crows under some umbrellas, seeking shelter from the storm and trying to eat a soggy dinner. I had no intention of eating dinner like that,so we just ordered a soft drink and waited out the storm, and I called my dh awhile to talk to him. Finally the storm was over, and I was hoping to see if we could get into 50;s Prime time, but they would only take us at the counter, and I didn't want to do that. So we asked for Hollywood and Vine, and again, the answer was no. I went to guest services to see if there was any place available, and the only place was at Narcooses's and it was in 25 miutes, and we were really not going to make that,or even looking decent enough .We looked like drowned rats.Anyway,we just went back to the resort, and grabbed something,I think I had a meatball sandwich which I wasn't too impressed with.Perhaps it was because I knew we could have had a great time if we had gone to Whispering Canyon like I had planned! This is what happens when you mess with months of planning! I was in a really bad mood, because the night just turned out very wrong. We ate and went back to our room, and I decided to do some laundry and sit in the jacuzzi. Cruella wanted to do laundry too,but she went swimming instead. Soon the girls came back and we all went swimming, while finishing up the laundry.
I went back to the room, took a shower and watched some tv before falling asleep. Cruella decided her hair doesn't come out good, when she showers at night,so she needed to take her shower in the morning. I went to bed knowing that we would get another late start the next day.

I didn't really take too many pictures today. We didn't spend much time doing anything at AK,besides shopping and eating, and the few attractions we did manage to do. Whatever pictures I do have, other then what I have here already,I will upload on my next post. Thanks for reading this far my friends!

Here is Kaitlyn trying to hide from Kylie and surprise her.

Thank you Ty! Having you read my trip report is really an honor, because you are such an excellent trip report writer, and so funny! I am really enjoying reading yours! (even if everyone I work with thinks I am a lunatic..haha)

You know, your trip with your daughter and her friend and her friends mom...wow...what a coincidence! And yes,my dd and her friend would always go off and do thier own thing too,and many times Cruella seemed to encourage it. But your right...I may not know when just now,but I do know that I will get back there again. My oldest dd and I are talking about taking a trip together in early 2011,and she promised me no friends!!! :rotfl:

It must have been so rough for all your plans to get thrown away as the trip went on. That has to be every trip planner's nightmare! And all that shopping! :( I do have to say though, I just can't picture Cruella at Whispering Canyon. With all the shenanagins and all it just doesn't seem like her kind of thing. I can just picture her screaming at the servers when they bring dozens of catsup botthles to the table to something.

I saw your signature...your sooo lucky to go to Disney so many times in one year! I am going to start your reading your trip report next, and I can't wait!

Thanks Lisa. Hope you enjoy it. :)

When I started reading your TR, I thought this is interesting. I continued to read to see what travelling with people other than your family was like. As the report continued, I started cringing. I started thinking what if this woman or her daughter reads your report or anyone that knows them as their pictures were posted.

I'm assuming your daughter's friend is close to her mother and if they have problems as you alluded to (indicating the daughter talked to you) she is still her mother. It seems sad to bash someone relentlessly for things like shopping, snoring. picture taking, sleeping in, wanting an alcoholic drink make up routines, being upset about the airline, losing her hat and complaining about the heat. Honestly, if you handle these situations in a better fashion, great. But, people are different and that is what makes us individuals for all our faults and virtues. It seems the bench incident was extremely poor behavior but who among us is not ashamed of things done or said in our past. Disney veterns know all to well about the long lines, standing on the bus after a long day, the heat, etc. We know this and go back for more. A first time would certainly be overwhelmed.

One thing I know is that Disney is a lot of fun but apparently the other mom had no idea what to expect. A first timer would be extremely overwhelmed by the sheer size of Disney. Sharing a room with others who are not extremely close to you is a pretty good sign of a problem in the making (so personal).

It sounds like you tried to be patient at first but this trip had disaster written all over it from the get go. It is difficult to get families to agree on things to do at Disney but the thought of two different personalities who are not even friends but more acquaintences trying to navagate Disney seems like a nightmare.

Hopefully, your daughters are still friends. And if this mother had other melt downs on this trip, I hope her daughter does not have to read about it. Afterall, according to you she has a great kid so she must be doing something right.

Wow...just WOW!!! LOL...this is wha Disney would be like with my MIL!!!:lmao:

I admire your patience...I would have LOST it! I have a very low tolerence for ignorant people and people who are more indecisive than me...and that is saying A LOT...Seriously...ask me what I'm making for dinner...It'll change 3 times before then!

But I'm so glad your girls had such a great time. My best friend's father has a time share in Orlando (NOT a DVC one:snooty: LOL) and some of my best memories of our "teenagehood" are those weekend trips. (grew up in Tampa, so never really got the whole week long Disney trip:sad1:)

This is like a trainwreck-- I don't want to look, but I can't not! You are an infinitely more patient person than I am, because I don't think I would have lasted a day with Cruella. I'd have been booking Pop and ditching her with a quickness. She was stuck to you like glue too! I hope there were enough good moments to make it not a total disaster for you.

You know,I never even gave that a thought, but you have a good point there! I thought not going to WC was a bad thing, but perhaps the night would have gone a whole lot worse if we had gone! I really never thought of this! Thanks...your perspective at least makes me think of that night in a different way now.

Our dd's are still very best friends, and I wouldn't have wrote this trip report had I had any fear that they would see this.Cruella couldn't even bother to read my emails I would send her with questions for our trip or take a look at the Dis site I sent her to help pick our adr's. Even when she was late with her payment, she couldn't even bother to call me up and tell me that she had been layed off several weeks before.I had to call her to find out what was going on.I knew she was aware of the final payment date, because I sent her messages all sorts of ways to remind her of it.She could have told me what was going on.
As for bashing her,I don't feel I am doing that at all.I am simply telling what happened on my trip and my feelings about it. When she was taking pictures,I always understood that.If the girls were with us,I would tell her to take her time and she could meet us later. As far as the heat, well I have never been to Florida in August before either, but I knew it would be hot and humid. She should have taken that into consideration in my opinion. What good did complaining all the time do?
As far as sleeping in,or wanting a drink,or whatever else she wanted to do,that was also fine with me.We had a rule that we could do whatever we wanted at anytime,no one had to go with my plan. She could have made her own plans for her and her dd. I would have preferred that at times!
But she didn't. And then to want to sleep in,that is fine with me,but at the same time, don't expect everyone else to wait for you either. And if you choose to read on from here, you will see how out of hand her self centerness got.
Yes,I do agree,I should never have went with her,but at the same time,20/20 hindsight doesn't change things. And despite what you say about everyone doing something in our past we are ashamed of, well that is true, but I do not go around being so rude to innocent people, and this is something she did practically every day, although not to that degree with the women and child. But she would treat the cast members like they were beneath her.So I don't believe that she was ashamed of her behavior from that second night at all. And as you will see, this will proove true on our very last day in Disney.
Anyway,I do understand what your saying, but you don't know me. I am not a mean person, and I don't go around bashing people for normal things. I wrote this trip report as honestly as I could, giving Cruella her due when things went well. When I came back from my trip,I would often look back on this time with some inner perspective to see if I was being unreasonable in any way. Even during the trip,I always kept it in mind that this was thier first time in Disney, and that I didn't want to be too commando or pushy.I changed many things around for thier benefit. The reason I even wrote this trip report was get other peoples perspectives on it. I was really excited to see Disney through the eyes of new people, and I wanted them to love it as much as I did.I wanted to know what I could have done differently to have made that happen.
But thanks for your honest opinion. I don't agree with everything you said, but I repsect what you said anyway.
