A Splash Mountain seating question...

I haven't been to DL since '05 - back when everybody would straddle a center-aisle bench on Splash Mountain.

With the new seating system, what is the max vehicle capacity? Specifically, could a smaller adult ride in the back row seat with two small children? I assume that the front 5 seats are limited to one person/seat, even if they are small children?

The issue is this: our party will have 5 adults and 3 kids. The only way I can see us all fitting into one log is if one of the adults sits in the back with my DD4 on one side and my DD7 (who is very petite) on the other.

Would this be allowed, or should I resign myself to splitting up our group when we ride Splash? Nobody in our group is large, if that helps - I'm probably the biggest at 5'9" 165 lbs.

Thanks in advance! :goodvibes

The logs haven't changed since your trip in 2005.

Each log holds only 6 I believe, so you'll have to split up regardless. The back seat does allow for one adult and one small child
to sit together.

ETA: So, I did some Googling and the max capacity is actually 7 if you do have one adult and one child in the back, but you'd still have to split since you have 8 in your party.

Andy Castro posted this pic on his Dateline Disneyland Blog showing a pic of them testing Splash Mountain last week...

It still 5 single seats and 1 2 person bench in the back... Maybe you were thinking of Splash at WDW in which every row is a double seat?

Thanks for posting that. I didn't really trust them, but I had read reports that maybe this long refurb was to change the logs. That photo proves otherwise!

Looks like they did not install the lap bars as they have at WDW.

I can't imagine lap bars would even be possible with the current design of DL's logs. OUCH! :scared:

Thanks for the info! :goodvibes
Sad that we'll have to split up, though. :sad1:

I may have my timeline a little confused regarding the various log updates. I think you're right that the logs were basically the same in '05, I must be thinking of previous trips. I think the big back seat was introduced in early 2005. Not sure about the backrests.

How long has it been since the days of no backrests, when you could put your arms around a small kid or your significant other sitting in front of you?

Anybody have any good info on the history/timeline of the Splash Mountain log seating configuration?

One site I found said it changed in 2002 but I can't confirm.

Don't go starting rumors. :sad2:

Different kinds of ride vehicles demand different safety needs.

The added lap bars to Dudley Do Right at IOA in Orland and the boats aren't that much different. It makes it real difficult for tall people to get in and out. This Page Shows a picture of the lap bars about half way down.
