I have loved getting to make our ADRs for our trip to Disney in 2 weeks! The CMs have been asking what will we be celebrating ~ here is the answer!
My family (my mom and myself), well, we have been a foster family for almost the last year. We received a 2 week old baby boy last August. He has been the joy of our lives ever since. Anyway, the afternoon in May before a scheduled visit with the social worker, she called me at work and told me that I would be able to adopt the baby, who was then 9 months old. I asked her if she was kidding me, to which she said she wasn't. I screamed MORE than I have ever done on Tower of Terror! I just started crying! I got off the phone and called my mom at work! She screamed too! I called my friends Sandy and she screamed! I went to my supervisor and with tears in my eyes (and all over my face), SHE screamed! My mom called me back a few minutes later and said, 'Call Carrie! Get him on the reservations!' Carrie is our travel agent. When we booked our Disney trip last November, we didn't put the baby on because we didn't know what was going to happen as far as him being with us. After I talked to my mom the second time, I called the TA, explained the situation and got him on the reservation. Carrie has booked all of trips, she knows what we like and has been very accomodating for everything that we have needed.
When I got off work, I went and picked up the baby from day care and told his teacher and SHE screamed! It was a very loud afternoon! Anyway, during the visit, the social worker told me how everything had played out (sorry I can't go into details). Hopefully it will be by the end of the year for the adoption to be finalized. I'm not sure where we are in the process, except we have had the home study and will sign off on the paperwork the Friday before we leave for Disney. I have to take a resource class in October. Everything else that needs to be done is on someone else's end.
Anyway, the baby just turned a year old last Wednesday. We had his 1st birthday pictures taken yesterday morning and his party yesterday afternoon. When we go to Disney, we're celebrating being a family. We have had t-shirts made for the occasion and we're celebrating at Crystal Palace for breakfast. I am trying to get the baby to say Pooh, but he just looks at me like I'm nuts (which at this point is the truth)! He is beginning to stand, but I'm not sure if he'll be walking by the time we head to Disney.
Soooo in the meantime, we wait on our hotel vouchers and DME tags and finish packing!
